Crackdown 2 set in future Pacific City, has “entirely new map”
Crackdown 2 was one of the big announcements of E3 2009. With so many gamers waiting for a sequel, including myself, it sure shocked us when Microsoft launched the trailer. The game’s currently in development at Ruffian Games, not RealTime Worlds like the first game. However, Ruffian consists of former RealTime workers.
A new interview with the game reveals some new details about Crackdown 2, including just how many of the original team are working on the sequel.
“Close to half of our team worked on the original game” said creative director Billy Thompson. “We’ve got core members from every discipline who worked on it, the majority of the design team, and, depending on whom you speak to, some of the best coders and most talented artists. But there are still guys at Realtime we want to be friends with, so we don’t want to get dragged into a slanging match.”
According to Ruffian, the game’s set in the same Pacific City that the first game took place in. However, Ruffian says that the game’s set farther into the future than Crackdown resulting in players to “look at it as being an entirely new map”.
So, we await first gameplay of this upcoming gem now.
