Microsoft Acquires BigPark, New Xbox 360 Exclusive in Development for E3 Reveal
Microsoft has announced that the company is going to acquire Vancouver-based developer, BigPark, an “interactive online entertainment company.” The company consists of veterans whom have worked on games such as Need for Speed, SSX, and NBA Street. Their first project, however, was a game called Wizard Defense, free-to-play here.
BigPark is now developing a title exclusively for Xbox 360, which will be revealed next month at E3 2009.
“We’re looking forward to being part of the Microsoft Game Studios team, where we believe we can successfully contribute to shaping key Microsoft initiatives through fresh and engaging consumer experiences,” said Wil Mozell , studio president and co-founder of BigPark.
BigPark’s Xbox 360 title will not only be revealed at E3 next month, but it will be playable as well. The game’s been in development for over a year, BigPark told JoyStiq, and be in line with what they’ve released before. The game’s said to be “very new and different” and that it would break some rules.
