Metal Gear Online Gets “Race Mission” Mode and “Patriot” Feature this Month
Konami is going to be pumping out even more content for the PlayStation 3‘s Metal Gear Online, with the ‘SCENE’ expansion recently released, more is on the way, this time free.
On May 12, 2009, a new game mode will be available for play called “Race Mission”. This mode pits two teams against each other, with the Blue Team searching for and protecting the KEROTAN target, and the Red Team searching for and protecting the GA-KO target. Each time a team passes a check point with its target in hand, a new checkpoint will be generated. If a team drops its target and the target is not retrieved within a set period of time, the target’s position will be reset and the checkpoint will change.
Following on May 26, 2009, a new feature titled “Patriot” will be available on Metal Gear Online. This feature will select a few players every week and give them exclusive access to a 5.56mm Hand Rifle with infinite ammo and no reload. If players become a Patriot, they will have access to these unique features until the next ranking update.
Konami teases more to come as the one-year anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 4‘s release approaches. That’s June 12, 2009 folks.
