In what started as a rumor ended up confirmed by 3D Realms webmaster Joe Siegler. The rumor started as a reliable source told Shacknews the studio was closing down due to funding issues. However, when Siegler finally commented, he did not said it wasn’t due to marketing.
“It’s not a marketing thing. It’s true. I have nothing further to say at this time.” said Joe Siegler.
Siegler was unaware of a shutdown just yesterday, however, so it’s very unexpected. It’s a damn shame.
Even though 3D Realms is shutting down, it will not affect development of the portable Duke Nukem Trilogy, confirmed Apogee Software and Deep Silver.
