Tekken 6 director Katsuhiro Harada said today that Xbox 360 owners should not fear an inferior version of the fighter when it launches on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this year.
“We want to dispel any fears that fans might have that the 360 version will be inferior [to the PS3 version],” said Harada. “We are making progress every day and we’re quite confident.”
Harada says that bringing Tekken 6 to the Xbox 360 has been a “big challenge” since it was originally designed for an arcade board with a similar architecture to the PlayStation 3.
They believed the game had much potential on the PlayStation 3, however.
“As far as [the PS3’s] potential goes, this is something we really noticed when developing Bloodline Rebellion. In the Tekken Project, when we talk about dividing the processing we say to “SPU itâ€. If you use the SPU’s capabilities properly and optimize the code accordingly you can pull a lot out of the hardware.”
