Katamari Forever in 1080p, New Story and Levels
Namco Bandai’s bringing the Japanese game of mindless fun, also known as Katamari, to the PlayStation 3 this Fall. Along with a 1080p upgrade, the game will feature a new story, new graphics, new levels, and remixed music from the original Katamari Damacy, released a while back on the PS2.
The new story goes like this: the King of All Cosmos is in a coma, so the Robo King steps in his place. Robo King goes crazy and the King of All Cosmos loses his memory. That’s where the new Robo King levels kick in as well as the levels from the original Katamari Damacy from the PS2, but this time upgraded in 1080p HD and new gameplay rules. Playing through the levels will restory the King of All Cosmos’ memory and wake him from his coma.
What Katamari Forever is doing different from Katamari Damacy besides HD graphics is adding new visual styles. These styles include Comic, Wood, Classic etc. and give the whole game a different feel. For those who seek out every little detail of every level in the game, Namco Bandai’s adding in new hidden items in each level for players to find.
Katamari Forever will feature some SIXAXIS support. If you flick the controller up, he will jump. However, you can do this simpler by just tapping R2/L2.
Katamari Forever will release in Fall 2009 exclusively for PlayStation 3 and will feature local co-op and multiplayer game modes and trophies for all you collectors. Check out a handful of new screens at the gallery.
