Factor 5’s Second PS3 Project Was a Space Odyssey
Sony had a nice little friendship before the more than terrible LAIR shipped for the PlayStation 3. Factor 5 created the game under SCEA because they allowed them to make their own game rather than creating a franchise game owned by Sony. However, LAIR was plagued with development issues, staff departures, quality issues and delays.
Due to these issues with LAIR, SCEA terminated the partnership between themselves and Factor 5. A project that was already in development beofre the terminatinon, which was untitled, was put on hold. As of yet, it can be safely said as cancelled.
The game looked like a Space Odyssey type game. The concept artwork shows us a futuristic factory/city in the background, ships, laser-shooting, and a mothership-looking meteor crashing. It’s sad that it’s cancelled. Even though LAIR was terrible, Factor 5 was a good developer. I believe they could’ve redeemed themselves, judging from this artwork.
There’s nothing to say that they’re officially gone now, but with Brash Entertainment recently dropping them from their Superman game, their future looks dry.
