Crystal Defenders Launches on Xbox LIVE Arcade

Square Enix has released Crystal Defenders on the Xbox LIVE Arcade today, providing gamers with tower-of-defense action in a Final Fantasy-like fashion. The Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the game comes with a new interface optimized for consoles, leaderboards, and other new features.

The game was also released on the Japanese PlayStation Network today, so we’re guessing this will release on the US PlayStation Network tomorrow for you PlayStation 3 owners waiting for your first Square Enix game. As for now, the launch trailer and press release can be seen here.

Version Update for iPhone & iPod touch Applications Coming Soon

LOS ANGELES (March 11, 2009) – Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in North America, announced today that the defensive simulation game, CRYSTAL DEFENDERS™, previously released for the iPod® and iPhone® 3G/iPod touch, is now available worldwide for download via Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. In addition, a major version update for the iPhone 3G/iPod touch versions is currently in development and is scheduled for release in the following weeks.

Featuring jobs and locations from the popular FINAL FANTASY TACTICS® series, this unique defensive simulation game requires players to strategically deploy units to fend off encroaching enemy hordes and prevent them from stealing their party’s crystals.

The Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 version includes several improvements to the interface and a new design optimized for consoles. A worldwide ranking system allows players to upload their scores to leaderboards and see how they stack up against other players around the globe. These and other new features are sure to increase excitement and enhance replayability.
