Over at the Tokyo Game Show in Japan, Kentaro Motomura, Producer of White Knight Chronicles, has given his keynote on the PLAYSTATION 3 RPG.
The game features solo and 4-player online co-op. The story involves a “Wizard” who raids the kingdom looking for the power of “Knight”.
A young man named Leonard escapes into a cellar and finds a mysterious set of armor, which transforms him into the White Knight, and he defeates the Wizard’s enormous monster. However, the princess was kidnapped during the battle. Leonard sets off with his newfound power to find the kidnapped princess.
The trailer also shows us other characters, such as huge monsters, and of course the White Knight. Ther eis also a Black Knight, Dragon Knight, and more.
Leonard is a young man who works for a wine merchant before being drawn into the events detailed above. Cisna is the aforementioned princess. Yulie and Eldore provide support to Leonard. Yulie is a childhood friend of Leonard, while Eldore is a mysterious warrior lending advice to Leonard.
The game’s battle system works like so: players freely register commands into “function palettes”. You create your own combos to be used in active-time battles using simple controls. There are many possible combinations.
Character customization is also present. In the solo mode, you’ll play as Leonard. However, when online, you’ll play as your created character with many customization options. You’ll also get to select your type such as warrior, mage, etc.
Players can share money, items, and levels earned in one mode into the other with each other. There are a lot more elements to this that will be revealed later, Motomura-san explained.
Motomura-san says that there will be “a huge number” of online quests. You’re basically getting two RPGs in one.
