A new FAQ for the upcoming v2.40 firmware has been posted on the PlayStation.Blog. We took the liberty of summing it up for you.

• They are currently evaluating the opportunity for in-game voice chat, but they focused more on text chat for this update.

• In order to browse the internet, you must exit the game.

• You can only access the XMB when playing PLAYSTATION 3 titles. In the future you will be able to access it during movie playaback.

• You cannot change anything in the display settings while in-game.

• Sound output changes can be made while in-game.

• You cannot access the PLAYSTATION Store while in-game, but you may view your downloads.

• Custom soundtracks must be added in by developers, and it is up to them whether to patch old games to include it.

• Cross-game invites are not in the v2.40 update.

• They are working with developers to make sure trophies are included in all future titles.

• Trophies are attached to gamers’ PLAYSTATION Network ID’s, and they are not retroactive.

• They are evaluating opportunities to expand where trophies can be viewed such as a PC.

• Developers have no limit to how many trophies they can put in their game, but they must balance out the trophies.

• Getting a trophy doesn’t make a noise.

I predict a spike in sales of Pixel Junk Monsters and Super Stardust on July 2nd. I’m buying Stardust for that main reason but I’ve been thinking about it for a while anyway.

And I know you guys are bummed about more games not having trophies but in about 6 months I think most every game on the market will have trophy support.

What I’m more curious about is the incentives that come with trophies. Eric didn’t talk about that. Someone said discounts in the PSN Store. Maybe, but what else?

@incred i heard there might be prizes too
