Sony confirms dates for some upcoming PS Vita games.

PlayStation Vita

The PS Vita slim model (PCH-2000 series) is coming to North America this spring for $199.99 via a Borderlands 2 bundle, Sony Computer Entertainment America announced.

The bunlde will incldue a PS Vita slim, a copy of Borderlands 2 with all six add-on DLC packs, and an eight gigabyte memory card.

The slim model is 20 percent slimmer and 15 percent lighter than the original PS Vita and uses an LCD display rather than an OLED. It first launched in Japan late last year, and debuted in the United Kingdom on Friday.

Borderlands 2 will feature cross-save compatibility with the PlayStation 3 version. The PS Vita game includeds all six downloadable content packs, including: ‘Captain Scarlett’ and ‘Her Pirate’s Booty,’ ‘Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage,’ ‘Psycho Character Class,’ ‘Mechromancer Character Class,’ ‘Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1’ and the ‘Collector’s Edition Pack.’

Outside of the slim announcement, Sony also confirmed a few PS Vita release dates. The God of War Collection, which includes the first two God of War games, will launch on May 6. And finally, Invizimals and Murasaki Baby can be considered confirmed for release in North America.

That’s actually a pretty neat bundle.

Edit: And now I actually read the entire thing and see the awesome bit on other games coming at the bottom. Fantastic news!

  • Martian Wong

I got my bundle already with AC: L. But I hope this bundle will attract more people to get a Vita.

  • Karysonson

Ok, I’m getting a vita now.
    Any recommendations for games?

    • MrFinalgamer

Tearaway and Gravity Rush are an amazing start. the 2 best games for the platform that show what the systems mechanics are capable off. there’s also (as much as i have my grudges against it) Persona 4 which is amazing. Uncharted is great and so is Killzone. Ys: Memories of Celceta is truly a magical game too. also Dangan ronpa (coming out tomorrow) which looks like an amazing visual novel. those are all the games on top of my head right now

    • Solomon_Kano

      – Gravity Rush
      – Gravity Rush
      – Gravity Rush

      • DarthBrian

I bought that game before I even had a Vita.

        I still don’t have a Vita.

        • Solomon_Kano

Well, at least you’ll be set for a good time as soon as you get one!

        • MrFinalgamer

make sure to get the DLC too!

          • crimsonidol

That were some fun (and some stressful) missions with great costumes. I prefered the spy-one.

        • Elvick

At least you’re doing it right. ;3

Gravity Rush is worth it. Love it. Tearaway overtook GR as my favorite Vita game though.

      • OverlordZetta

        – Overhyped.
        – Glad I didn’t pay for it.
        – Probably not getting the sequel.

Really though, the game is really awesome for the first three quarters but then it just gets so annoying and tedious that it sucks the joy right out of it.

        • Solomon_Kano

          O… kay.

      • crimsonidol

Damn Disqus. Can only upvote once.

Have to look at the trailer for the sequel again. Everyone has to:

      Hotline Miami

    • tubers

A month of Plus to try out the freebies and get a good “dipping” on the system’s offers.. a larger memory card would help but 4 GB can be serviceable if you’re fine transferring stuff back and forth a PS3 or PC.

It’s a low risk system testing (PS+ and a memory card).

At least this bundle has 8 GB if you plan on getting the 2K BL Bundle.

  • MrFinalgamer

hmm, while i’m insanely exited for Borderlands 2, i do want to see some footage, and i thought there was more DLC than just that! don’t tell me they’ll sell that separately.
also nice to see Sly finally confirmed, hopefully it’s not as bad a port as Jak, and GoW better be 60 frames or solid 30 minimum.

  • Budgiecat

But I dont want Boringlands 2

How much for just the Vita?

    • $18114340

      Sell BL2.

      • Budgiecat

Why do I have to go through the trouble of that. They wont just sell the console by itself?

        • $18114340

They will eventually, but it probably won’t go below $200 unless it’s a temporary discount.

          • Budgiecat

            what?? That doesn’t sound right..

      • DarthBrian

What if it comes pre-installed on the memory card or as a download code? :p

        • Budgiecat

ahh! You mean they would pull a Nintendo Wii U Zelda Bundle move??

        • $18114340

Then enjoy the game for what it’s worth, because I doubt Sony is going to pull the price of the Vita by itself lower than $200… they can afford to lose out on software sales for one game, but they can’t skimp on the profit margin for the hardware of the console.

I tend to think of bundled-in games as being a free bonus (which is what they want you to do, but hey). Typically they aren’t the kinds of games I’m that interested in anyway.

    • MrKappa

Watch it buddy, them’s fighting words.

    • 罪罰

It’s a good deal, just sell the shit game and you have 8gbs and a spanking brand new vita.

    • karmacoma

I agree, I don’t care about Borderlands 2 either. But in the end, it’s a free game. Vita Slim will probably end up being the same price alone, since the original Vita + Walking Dead Bundle was the same price as the standalone Vita 3G, which was the same price as the Vita Wi-Fi. Unless the Slim is massively cheaper to produce, it looks like $199 is the default Vita price for the present.

  • Invisbin

My vita fell in water a month ago…this would be an awesome upgrade.

    • TheExile285

      Damn, that sucks man :(

      • Invisbin

I took it as an act of God. I was coming home from an interview and it literally just spawned out of thin air as i got out the car. I wasn’t even mad.

  • DarthBrian

Guess I’m gonna need to buy a Vita before the OLED ones disappear.

    • Elvick

Guess I’m going to need to replace mine. (I nicked the screen ):… works fine, but it bugs me :P)

      • DarthBrian

How could you damage that beautiful screen, you inhuman monster? :(

        • Elvick

          I dropped scissors and instead of it landing on the floor, it decided to attack my Vita. D;

          • DarthBrian

I hope you punished the evil scissors.

      • Raiyu

I’m in the same boat, has a small dent in it. Not really noticeable but it’s there :(

        • Elvick

Mine also has a groove/dent on the side after I dropped my Vita on my laptop. ):

I felt terrible about it for a week. Now it’s just ‘I feel bad’ every time I see either thing. And it’s been a long time too. :

      • MrFinalgamer

me too, every time there’s a beautiful, colorful scene in any game, i just see that ONE scratch….ugh

    • ayb_91

They won’t because the people who are interested in best quality of products still live in this planet.

      • MrFinalgamer

        tell that to SCEE

  • Elvick

FUCK YES INVIZIMALS I AM SO HAPPY. edit; unless it’s digital only or some b/s…. /edit

Now, is SCEA going to advertise the dern thing?

If there was ever a time to retroactive make ads for a game already launched, now is the time Sony… (SCEA). Do some late ads for Killzone: Mercenary. Stat.

Nice that Borderlands has all the DLC.

Also… SLY COLLECTION CONFIRMATION FINALLY JEBUZ, Triple plat here I come. Now Ratchet needs to be done.

    • crimsonidol

About Invizimals: As far as I know it only gets a physical release in Europe (Amazon lists it over here).

      • Elvick

I asked on the PS Blog, and it seems like there’s not a decision either way. So I’ll still hope for retail. If not, I’ll import.

  • Forty

Sly Collection, aww yes, was putting off getting the PS3 version in the hopes this would show up. Brilliant.

  • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

Yes!!! Can’t wait to see what they have for PS Vita at GDC 2014.

  • TheBlackRabbit

eh nah i have the original already

  • EruwaY

I’m curious, what are the pros and cons of each version? Planning on buying a Vita but still don’t know which one is the best buy.

    • MrFinalgamer

the new model has 1 gb of internal memory (which sadly is useless if you use a memory card), it’s a lot thinner and lighter, the rear touch pad has been reduced, it has approximately 1 more hour of battery, and has the LCD screen
the old one does not have any of the improvements mentioned above, but does have the OLED. so it really boils down to whether you want a better screen, or every thing else mentioned above.

    • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

Get the Original PS Vita for the OLED Screen and Better Sexy Design. The Slim screen is LCD and the design doesn’t look as good as the Original model and Sony just created a slim version to cut down on the Production cost.

      • LordKaiser

OLED is beautiful till it’s colors begin to degrade like the blue.

    • César H. Sandoval

      New one is also cheaper.

      • bloodiOS

You can get the OLED model bundled with 8GB memory card at Best Buy for only $189.99.

        • César H. Sandoval

Really? then what’s the point? LOL disregard my previous post..

          • icecoffemix

It’s cheaper to make for Sony. :P

    • bloodiOS

I believe the Vita-2000 is smaller, lighter, and also has better grip. It uses standard Micro USB connector instead of the proprietary one that the Vita-1000 uses. It has 1GB of internal storage, but I’ve heard that it can’t use be in tandem with memory cards. It has an extra hour of battery life (so 5-6 hours total) but I believe Engadget said they got something like 8-12 hours out of it, so who knows. The screen is LCD but according to Eurogamer, it’s IPS LCD, and since my iPhone has IPS screen, I have to say that its quality is quite good. But of course, the Vita-1000 has “DAT OLED”, with the added benefits of getting clouding and image retention and all that jazz ;)

  • HighBrowDrifter

Ahhh!…Now I have to buy a second Vita! And a PS4 with Infamous SS! And Toukiden! Watchdogs, The Order 1886, Driveclub, Uncharted, etc. AHHHHH!!! MY WALLET!

    • Budgiecat

      Don’t forget J-Stars…

      • HighBrowDrifter

Oh the agony my wallet must endure…..R.I.P

  • Rikimaru

What I want is God Eater 2. Nao. Please. Please. GOD EATER 2.

  • shogunknight

Thats quite a good offer, very good infact

  • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)
  • Audie Bakerson

I’m still not getting one till I can use a micro SD in it or it hits dirt cheep price (<$100).

Funny how efforts to deter pirates deterred paying customers more…

    • tubers

So maybe 3-4 years time from now or even sooner (mobile age).

I think that’s about the time the PSP hit $ 99 back then.

At least the library would be as ripe as it gets by then.

      • Audie Bakerson

Then hopefully someone makes a microSD adapter before that. I’m not buying a system THEN spending half (Yep. Half) of the unit’s cost on mandatory storage.

  • Karl Josef

    Guys….. CROSSSAVE
    yeaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh >.<

  • new_tradition

Really tempting. 8gb is not a bad memory card size, although the bundled game being a DD probably makes it more like 5-6 gbs worth of space, but we’ll see I guess…

So if this is the bundle price, how much will just the stand alone system cost?

  • SuperLuigi

200.00 and only black? Lame. I wanted another vita to play some games with the wife like lbp. Also wanted a more portable vita.

  • Vyse Legendaire

Piss poor LCD screen = lolz. Buy your Vita 1000s now while you can.

    • bloodiOS

Ah, yes, IPS is “piss poor” now…
Makes me wish the PSP, 3DS, or even the Xperia Z would’ve had such a “piss poor” screen instead >.>

      • Vyse Legendaire

You would be correct to assume that each of those consoles has a piss-poor, cheap and eye-cancerous screen.

        • bloodiOS

Ah, yes, but not the Vita-2000. Also, the Xperia Z isn’t even a console and despite having TN screen, it’s still far from being piss poor.

      • karmacoma

Seriously. Have people never seen an IPS screen? It’s amazing how everyone’s clowning this new Vita without ever even seeing it.

    • LordKaiser

W8 till the blue of your OLED gets wached out in just a few years.

  • LordKaiser

SEGA fans may avoid this bundle at all cost.

    • Igloo

      Why is that?

  • Elvick

Oh, and what is with SCEA and SCEE and their hatred of colors?

    I mean come on.

  • Matt Dickinson

What colors would people most like in the U.S. and elsewhere? Like blue? Yellow? Good spring colors.
