The apostles, now in high-resolution.

The latest set of Drakengard 3 screenshots show off the new “apostle” characters who will fight alongside main character Zero.

We detailed the group of four in full earlier this week.

With the absence of AA and AF. I seriously hope that we would, at the very least, get a solid 60FPS performance out of this game (wouldn’t mind some screen-tearing either.) In any case, even though personally, I don’t think the game look pretty or anything, it definitely isn’t fugly either.

Exactly! I would trade AA and AF for solid 60FPS.

the art really reminds me of The Last Story :)

im getting this, i just want some dark and mind fuckingly good story :P

How do you folks think these graphics fare against NIER ?

Big fan of Nier and I know gfx are not everything but DG 3 strikes me as poor coding especially this late in the gen.

I’ll give NieR maybe a point more than what I’m seeing here, but I think it’s fair to say NieR didn’t have the greatest graphics either.

Although I feel like arguing the rough edges we’re seeing here won’t be as noticeable in mid-movement, so I wouldn’t consider these bad graphics either.

Also, maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but I think these screen shots look better than the first batch released, so I think that’s something.

    • DrForbidden

These current screenshots actually look much better and much more polished than the stuff earlier. Still, I think Nier had better graphics than this, on average.

Looks like an AAA Vita game.. dat jaggies..

  • kenshee

It improved quite a lot, this is certainly a more … acceptable level of graphics.

Not to say that there’s some sort of minimum bar, but it would have been a pretty big minus on every review if it didn’t improve.
Now I could see it being described as nothing great, but does the job and doesn’t hinder the enjoyment for gameplay and story, which is what we came for :)

Definitely looks a lot better than it did previously…

  • Karl Josef

it’s really looks like ps vita graphics.

    • yuina

Vita can certainly do better than this.

  • Pekola

If I recall, they were about to start the texture work as of march? I’m guessing they won’t be using AA or AF, but do they even have the resources to do so?

If they do, it might not be a bad idea to send Yoko Taro a little tweet lol (wishful thinking)

I hope they keep polishing the game. I’m so hyped and glad it looks better than it did before. Now they just need to localize it.

  • Lelouch Vi Britannia

the visuals will only continue to improve for Drakengard 3 as far as screenshots go.

I really wonder if it’s such a smart idea to release these screens of what is average/below average graphics—

Don’t take me wrong; I don’t care about graphics at all. It’s genuinely the last thing I consider in terms of “review.” But really; with games these days that make sure every blade of grass is upright and swaying physically-correct to wind elements, and making sure that every enemy’s foot is, indeed, resting on the ground— I mean, they’re putting this title out there to the extreme antagonism and skepticism of modern gamers, and really most modern gamers like to, at least, believe they give a shit in terms of graphics (although it’s genuinely unimportant).

I dunno. I’m hooked; this is a type of game I’d absolutely chow down with, and fully intend to do so. But I really wonder if S-E is not making a giant mistake by releasing these screens one after another. Sure, they’ve “improved” in some ways, but really— I mean, I think they’re putting a bullet right in their own head by this.
