Fan-run Yakuza 5 localization campaign launched

Like & Share for Yakuza 5's overseas release.

March 18, 2013 / 09:19 PM EDT / (@salromano)

Sega is already doing it for Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F, and so a fan is following suit with a “Like & Share” Facebook campaign for Yakuza 5‘s localization, hoping it’ll attraction the attention needed to get Sega on board with releasing the sequel overseas. If you want to see the PlayStation 3 gangster game released out west, head over to the page, like it, and share it with friends.

Thanks for the tip, Ron.

Let the Yakuzafan owner know about this blog post and he’s very excited for this attention. We really badly need this game, as we have a close knit community that loves this series so much!

  • PrinceHeir

you know they should add Yakuza HD Collection too so we can experience the Yakuza goodness in one go!!

    • rockman29

First two games are still my favourite, and that is saying a lot because 3 and 4 are pretty damn awesome.

    • KnifeAndFork

      yesss

      And Shenmue HD Collection

      and Shenmue III

    • MosquitoLemon

I love me some Yakuza, but dear god, I already played the first two for a million hours. The one thing I want is a complete version of 3!

  • MrKappa

This shouldn’t even be a question but Sega has been lagging and falling behind on localizing their games.
It would be nice if they brought the HD collection over while we were waiting for this… and I wouldn’t mind getting Miku over here either.

  • KIngpigeon96

I would like this and Miku to get localized but the chance is kind of low.

  • Xenovelgr

If they can bring Dead Souls here, they should be able to bring 5 here

  • Kobracon

Wait is this really necessary? I’m sure this will come eventually. Sega is prolly busy with Phantasy Star Online 2 localization. I’d give it a year till we get it.

    • DrForbidden

^This. I’m not sure why the localisation of Yakuza games is even in question. The only one Sega failed to localise is Kenzan (and the PSP Kurohyou games), and they always appear a year or so after the Japanese release. Yakuza games are currently one of Sega’s best moneyspinners.

      • Kobracon

Exactly! They can’t be THAT stup-……y’know what? I’m not gonna jinx it. Nope. Not gonna finish that sentence.

Let’s just keep believing. Positive thoughts! For the record, I hope they are about finished with PSO 2. I want that game so bad!

          • Kobracon

You, me both, Zero. Let’s trade IDs once its out and quest together :D

            • http://twitter.com/GematsuZero Zero

Sure thing. =) I’m a long time old school PSO fan. I played the original games on Dreamcast up until they released the game on gamecube, which I played until I finally decided to move on to Final Fantasy 11.

After the Phantasy Star Universe debacle, I was starting to think a true sequel to PSO was never going to happen. Then, Sega got me super excited when they announce it in a teaser trailer a few years back. I actually got to play a bit of the Japanese version of PSO 2. I was loving it, but I forced myself to stop playing and wait for a possible localization announcement. Thankfully, Sega decided to do just that, but it’s been super quiet since the localization announcement.

I’m starting to get impatient, lol… The game has added and updated several times since then, with new/great looking content. I just need to scratch my Phantasy Start Online itch badly. =P

              • Kobracon

I never played the first (never got a Dreamcast :/ ) but I saw some vids of the new one and it looks great! I played the PSP game and I enjoyed the combat.

I can handle the quest grinding aspect since the events and maps themselves are randomized. But the thing I love the most (besides the mecha Cast race) is the fact that you basically never have to quest alone thanks to calling NPCs allies either from the story or NPC versions of your FRIENDS! That blew my mind.

Why dont Sega make PSO 2 for console so cross play could happen with Vita

            • http://twitter.com/GematsuZero Zero

Good question. I’d say that is mostly up to Sega. I’m not sure they felt like making the game for PS3 was worth the cost? It’s tough to know without more info.

    • Noctis_nox

There’s no harm in it. Maybe SEGA will take notice and localize this faster and sooner.
WIn-win. I don’t see any problem with it.

Talking of localization I would love for them to localize the Shining games that they have been releasing and PSO 2 as well.

  • Skerj

I’d join the campaign if it weren’t on Facebook. I’ll fight the beast forever, forever. You hear me!?

  • Kurisu Makise

Came to do my duty as a fan. Say can we get one of these started for VC3, maybe? Please? =(

    • Speedo Redempteur

NO need to do one for VC3 ..it’s a lost cause and is already in the middle of a fan translation.

      • Kurisu Makise

Yeah but that means I’ve got to keep my 1000 around and grab a JP copy on disc, ugh =( Owning 2/3 Valkyria’s is so much sadness.

  • Robertson Ponce

come on sega bring yakuza 5 to the west please these games are awesome please give the fan what they want

  • Adol Christian

Considering the financial state Sega are in. I think they have done a pretty decent job with localization. Sure I would like the Shining PSP titles and VC3 but you can’t always get what you want.

  • Solomon_Kano

Seriously? The game’s only been out for 3 months. It’s far too early for this. I mean, it won’t hurt, but let’s not act like the game’s release is in question just 3 months after its JP release.

I mean, it’s pretty much the only other series Sega brings west. Why the doubt?
