VG247 rumor claims no Share button on PS4 controller

But the touch-pad and similar controller shape are go.

February 13, 2013 / 09:39 AM EDT / (@salromano)

The PlayStation 4 controller will be “more or less” the same shape as the current DualShock 3 and include a front touch-pad in place of now-moved Start and Select buttons, according to a VG247 source.

This rumor has been previously reported by Kotaku and Edge, whose reports both mentioned a new “Share” button on the controller. According to VG247′s source, this button is non-existant.

The latest rumors suggest the console will come bundled with a “Dual Camera,” utilize Gaikai and have expanded social features, and launch at over $400.

PlayStation 4 is expected to be unveiled at PlayStation Meeting 2013 in New York City next Wednesday, February 20.

The share feature is probably in the OS rather than the controller.

Yeah there are already a few PS3 games that can do this like Wipe out and PS HOME.

    • DrForbidden

Agreed. It makes no sense to waste a button by designating it as a share button when the controller barely has space to accommodate a touchpad.

      i don’t get this share feature O___O

i don’t even know if the PS3 had it X__X

“over 400 dollars” Sony, you’re making the same mistake, why don’t you make it 300-400 dollars?

    • MrRobbyM

400-450 is a nice starting price for launch if you ask me. The price will drop a year or so after launch. It’s not like everyone goes out and buys a console at release. More than 450 would be a mistake though.

      • Pyrofrost

I’m calling 2 versions of the console, a standard version priced at $400 USD and a premium version priced at $500 USD.

        • MrRobbyM

          That’s also likely.

        • shogunknight

yep, that might be the case. The problem lies at what the $400 version wont have that the $500 has

          • Learii

hm maybe the $500 have dual camera bundle with it XD

            • zakou

The triple camera ones sell for 599 USD

              • shogunknight

$600 for a Triple camera?? Definitely not buying that, Leariis suggestion might be Sonys option. I would prefer $400 version having a smaller hard drive while any price above $400 would be the 500gb version. Wishful thinking

Yes, let’s act like this was an ANNOUNCEMENT instead of RUMOR.

      *sigh*

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

Not as bad as 600 dollars… But let’s not believe anything till they actually announce the price….

  • zakou

Because sharing what we do or play is more important than gaming itself XD

    • ShinAsura

      I like sharing

      • zakou

Images/videos of gameplay that will spam the facebook wall that nobody will care about after 2 weeks? Sure :3

Nah jk i also like sharing but i would rather start a Youtube channel and post gameplay videos there of stuff like glitches/buggs etc, so i hope the PS4 can record gameplay, if it can only share last 15 min of gameplay or screen shots then meh.

  • shogunknight

Oh ooo!! The rumors are starting to shape itself, “launch at over $400″…..its ok, better than launch at over $500.
    The concepts coming to shape

    Vita d-pad or bust

  • Prodigy-X

    Probably apart of the OS.

Wait, where the hell would they move the Start/Select buttons to if there’s a touch screen in the center? I thought Start/Select were just gonna be touch buttons.
