Tecmo Koei and Omega Force have launched the official website for Toukiden, their Tokyo Game Show-announced, recently revealed PS Vita and PSP Monster Hunter-like action / history hunting game.

We summarized the game’s story and first mechanical details yesterday. It follows the Mononofu warriors out to purge the world from the Demons swallowing the land.

The site opening includes the first high-res screenshots. View the set at the gallery.

I must say, game looks very pretty. They should’ve kept it PS V exclusive….unless Sony wanted PSP owners to know how way better the game is on PSV?!

Since PSP still makes money, it’s probably better to show the clear upgrade path by keeping it exclusive to their handhelds for the short term, then go PSV only upon the next release. Also, that Bow and Arrow, yes *_*!

LOL. I remember back when they released a port of Tony Hawk 3 (and maybe even 4?) for the PS1, long after the PS2 had been established.

To be fair though, it’s just the graphics that are better. There are even some low-res ports (Tekken 6 stands out) that are actually better on the PSP because they fix certain elements from the console release. Probably not the case here, but I won’t complain.

Im starting to get tired of the MH clones.

more clones, the better. the genre needs more competitive franchises. Otherwise everyone will just flock to monster hunter and capcom won’t do much to make it better

        that is fair

we do need more games in different genres than fps

i can definitely agree with this

It’s not a black and white thing either. Monster Hunter is fundamentally a multiplayer game, so its clones exclude people who only play single-player games. Yet there are several main-hub/repetitive locations/large-monster hack/slash games that aren’t multiplayer-focused, or at least provide a good single-player experience (Lord of Apocalypse, for example). I’m all for having more of those, same as I am Dynasty Warriors/Basara clones.

It gave birth to God Eater, which is a game I prefer over MH….
