Rumor: Ubisoft, EA have Xbox Next target kits; Major Sony studio shifts to PS4 development
The next-generation rumors continue.

Ubisoft Montreal is developing on early dev kits for the next generation Xbox, according to an Edge source. Dev kits should reach all studios by Christmas, and the console should release by late 2012, the source informed.

Ubisoft isn’t the only studio in possession of the kit, however. Other major developers, including certain EA studios, hold a kit, which are said to be PCs containing off-the-shelf components provided by Microsoft.

When contacted, Ubisoft declined to comment.

One “major Sony-owned studio” has ceased PlayStation 3 development, and has shifted focus to developing for its successor, the source added. The same studio is also assisting development of the graphics technology in the new hardware.

Previous rumors have suggested the next Xbox be smaller and cheaper than Xbox 360, that it will be called Xbox Loop, and launch in 2013. A PlayStation 4 rumor proposed first games for the system are already early in development.

No need to hurry actually, current console still have much graphical power. Uncharted 3 and Gears of War 3 had beautiful visual, it’s much better if the developer push the true power of PS3 and Xbox 360.

@Rafi: Really? I think both of them are pretty much what the consoles are capable of doing

        @canoners:
Almost all new graphic engine like Frostbite 2, Cry Engine 3 and Creation Engine can ran well in the console. Maybe more less detail on console but it’s still looks good.

@Rafi: The longer they push back now, the better the PC titles will look. Battlefield 3 is a shining example. The console version doesn’t come close to the PC version. You can’t jlook at graphical fidelity. You need to look at every factor that can take advantage of a more powerful system. The console versions got reduced character counts compared to the PC version. They can also do better A.I. Why does everyone always think JUST graphics?

Gears 3 and Uncharted 3 are the pinnacle of what we will see. Nobody will be “wowed” much more graphically here on out and even those games werent leaps above the prior game.

@Keegs79: Graphics / FPS / Animations / lightning etc it all depends on the developer actually, imo Final Fantasy Versus 13 has overall better animations, better graphics and just look overall better than anything i have seen.

In the end its up to the developer and consumer what they like but yeah after 5 years of PS3 and 6 years of 360 existence, TODAY there just one game that shows “true” difference between consoles and PC, and thats cause most developers dont push games so hard since less people own powerfull pcs.

Also im guessing that not even you or anyone you know can run BAttlefield 3 at ultra high -.- this game is the most demanding game ever released.

    New consoles: stay back!!

    Talk to me in 2014.

@Sal Romano: Definately agree. It would feel somewhat abrupt to end this generation in 2012, as if the systems weren’t really ready for replacement (apart from perhaps the Wii). I will get excited, naturally, at the concept of new hardware, but the 360 launch was a real horror and I just hope nothing is rushed to market. I’m fine with the PS3 and 360 as they are for as long as they hold up as they are doing.

@TezChi: Yes, and GTA V, Halo 4, Last Guardian, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and others major games still coming next year…I don’t believe in a next gen before end of 2013

Maybe great if Sony & Microsoft make their current console technology node to 11nm because it will make both console more life longer, cooler and of course, cheaper then support the developer to made them more understand the power of PS3 and Xbox 360.

I hope this rumor is true. I’m not getting a 360 because I know the next one is around the corner.
