In a series first, Konami will release a free update for Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2016 on April 27 that updates player data for the 2017 season, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.
The update will also include a new “Championship Mode” and other minor adjustments. In Championship Mode, players will participate in an official online tournament and compete to earn points, which can be used to obtain various rewards.
Here’s a brief Q&A regarding the 2017 player data update:
What happens to the 2016 season data after you update?
Current player data remains the same, and player data for the 2017 season is added. When you start the game, you can choose which data to use. If you choose the 2017 season data, the pennant schedules and such will also reflect the new season.
After the update, can I still use my previous save data?
Save data will remain the same, so you can continue to use it if you play in the 2016 season. Data will be automatically carried over to the 2017 season, but since some of the included players are different, some data will not carry over.
Will there just be update support without releasing a new title from now on?
We’re not quite at the stage where we can say much. We’re currently preparing a new title for next year. We’re planning to release a physical version, so I hope you can look forward to it.
What future developments can you share?
We’re preparing various things. We’ll start with updating the player data, so please enjoy Powerful Pro in 2017 as well.
Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2016 is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan.
Thanks, Hachima Kikou.
