Final Fantasy designer appointed CyDesignation company director

More details about Yoshida's new project coming soon.

Akihiko Yoshida

Akihiko Yoshida, best known for his art and character design on major RPGs such as Tactics Ogre, Vagrant Story, the Final Fantasy series, and more recently Bravely Default, has become a company director for CyDesignation.

CyDesignation is a subsidiary of Cygames, a company most known for developing The Idolmaster: Cinderella Girls and Rage of Bahamut—although the former has a greater business focus on game planning and production specifically. Despite his involvement on the business administration side of things, Yoshida still intends to sticks to his roots and contribute creatively to game development, with the company announcing his involvement in the development of a new title as art director.

Yoshida also had a few words to share about the occasion with the publication.

“It brings me great pride and honor to be working for CyDesignation as a director,” he said. “Although it must admit that it’s not without some trepidation, too. Regardless, I’m still a creator at heart and I look forward to continuing to create inventive, meaningful content with the help of friends I’ve come to know and a fantastic team made up of some of the industry’s brightest and most surprising and talented developers.”

A new title under Yoshida’s art direction will be announced soon, Cygames teased. While the company doesn’t explicitly confirm as much, it’s possible said new game is the PlayStation 4 title Cygames teased last month.
