Senran Kagura 2 Spirit Den Mode trailer

New footage shows off what to expect from the game's challenge mode.

Marvelous pushed out a handful of screenshots for Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson on the 3DS today, as well as a video showcasing the previously revealed Spirit Den Mode.

Spirit Den Mode, as we discussed a few weeks ago when Famitsu initially broke word about it, is a challenge mode in which players are tasked with clearing a series of enemy-filled rooms without being able to refill on health between rounds. Although there are said to be over 100 rooms in all to clear, players are allowed to commence subsequent attempts in the mode at any point that they’ve already previously beaten, meaning that not all 100 rooms have to tackled in one go. Ten high-tier enemy spirits are also said to be lying in wait, but those who persist and come out on top are set to be rewarded with a weapon for their efforts.

Also briefly mentioned in the Marvelous’ press release included with today’s media is the fact that similarly to how the girls’ clothing can be torn apart, the four new main enemy spirits each have points on their bodies that are individually destructible. What happens when things start falling apart, the publisher states, is something players will have to see for themselves.

Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson arrives on the 3DS in Japan on August 7.
