Hi, everyone! It’s Sal here (or as I’ve just randomly renamed myself in the tagline, Mr. Gematsu) with a rare, non-news story.
E3 2014 starts tomorrow. I’m not in Los Angeles, nor is anyone on Gematsu’s behalf. As a matter of fact, I haven’t been to E3 since 2011. And I probably won’t go back until we have at least a few more people on the Sal-o-clock staff—if that ever happens.
Those who’ve been with Gematsu for a while should know how our E3 coverage works. But I’d like to outline some things for those who haven’t been, as well as share some community-related announcements.
Basically, this is how tomorrow will play out: 15-30 minutes before each press conference, we’ll post a live stream. Once the press conference begins, we’ll post each announcement as they’re made. These posts will be bare at first, containing only what we can gather from the on-stage announcement, but will develop as press releases and official assets are sent out as the conference comes to a close. We won’t be making separate posts for these, because I’m sure you don’t want to see:
Some posts might take a while to fully update. I’m one guy handling all this, so cut me some slack, eh? Sometimes, you’ll get a situation where—for some reason or another—one company decides to take half-an-hour to send out their official items after a press conference. It’s annoying, and I hope it doesn’t happen. But it’s not something that hasn’t happened in the past. So don’t abandon me, because I love you guys. <3 Also, like always, we'll have all the screenshots and video up in watermark-free high-definition, so that's a nice plus. I'll be around all day Monday and Tuesday for coverage. On Wednesday and Thursday mornings, I have some things to take care of that I unfortunately can't get out of, but should be back to keep up coverage by the afternoon. So apologies in advance for the quiet hours. Moving on to the community stuff. Our press conference live stream posts, as users with us last year might remember, are also our E3 live threads. Our friendly neighborhood moderator Zero will be joining in on the discussion for each press conference, and we'll be giving away small prizes all week, with a bigger prize to follow in Friday's Open Forum #100. So be sure to join us for a chance to win! And because our coverage is pretty friggin' awesome. We'll be monitoring and picking out some of our favorite comments, and those selected will have a chance to win a prize. As for the Open Forum #100 prize, we'll share more when Friday's thread goes live. And that's that. Let's hope this E3 is a good one!
