Well they rushed the release last time and it turned out great for them (not so much for consumers), they gained a lot of ground, wouldn’t surprise me if they did it again.

Sadly, there are. Just as they bought a system with a 40-something percent failure rate. That requires you to pay for online play that is worse than what is free on PC. And what required many additional purchases to match the feature set of the PS3, that would total well over the PS3’s price. Hell, even the Wii had some features the 360 didn’t (wifi).

If MS had made the PS3 and Sony made the 360, the PS3 would have sold. The ‘360’ by Sony wouldn’t have stayed in the market. MS has the power to sell a crap product. (don’t get me wrong, there’s some good games on the system, but there is no denying the launch 360 was a shitty product anything that fails so often is) There is no way Sony would get away with that kind of bullshit. People didn’t even see value in the price of the PS3, even though it was there. Yet they saw value in something that failed almost as often as it didn’t (in America).

Exactly! It’s just a rumor guys. It may not be the best news to hear but it is still a rumor. Honestly I want to see if what the Next Xbox and PS4 have to offer first. I know the PS4 has been revealed but I am still not sold on it.

I’ve seen enough. I’ve seen plenty of awful decisions that haven’t been refuted, and that speaks volumes to me. It tells me that these things are going to happen and that I will not want this console.

Not really a scam, since the prices and charges are all upfront for you to see. Thing is, even if you bought a non-subscription model, you’d still have to pay for monthly online play. That’s the kicker there. In the end, the price difference may not be very significant given the XBL subscription charges.

That’s why MS WANTS you to sign yourself to 2 years of subscription. That’s where they can get to rip you off. Whether or not you use up your ‘online quota’ each month, you are still obliged to pay for the full month.

It wouldn’t be a gaming console. We don’t call PC’s or cell phones gaming machines even though they both play games. The next box is the same thing. It’ll be marketed as “a device that does everything, oh and also it plays games too!” If they want to change the original purpose of the device so be it but it’s going to be hard. People associate Xbox with video games. Plus I can’t see many devs continuing giving Microsoft timed exclusives or supporting them at all. If I was a dev I wouldn’t put my game on a device that it’s consumer base isn’t primarily gaming based or let alone give that device exclusive content.
