Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut

Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut will release for the PlayStation 3 in the UK on April 26, Rising Star Games has announced.

Previously released on Xbox 360 – and on PlayStation 3 in Japan only – in 2010, the director’s cut is said to include “a complete graphic overhaul with new HD textures”, a new scenario from game director Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, reworked controls and downloadable content – as well as a slew of other improvements, according to the game’s developer.

GAME, Amazon and a selection of independent retailers will offer exclusive downloadable content for pre-orders of the title.

A free 30-day trial membership of PlayStation Plus will be included in boxed retail copies, although only for a limited time.

Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut will also be released on PlayStation 3 on April 30 in North America.

lol i got you confused with zero (similar avatar) = = i knew this is something zero wouldn’t say xD so i was like wtf?

      • I guess it’s time for me to change my avatar lol.

        • Kurisu Makise

but now I don’t recognize you anymore! Ah but anywho, anyone have any uh impressions for Deadly PRemonition, I missed it the first time and April 30th is relatively healthy breathing room. Oh and what’s the price on the NA release?

          • That was one of my older avatars. I’ve decided to switch to Jude from Xillia.

I didn’t get to play Deadly Premonition when it first released on Xbox 360 in 2010ish. I’m going to pick it up this time around, it might look a bit dated visually, but it seems to be a really unique take on survival horror. I’ve watched some of the gameplay videos, and it looks like the type of game I’d enjoy.

I’m pretty sure its going to be $39.99. It’s been up on amazon for a bit.

            • Kurisu Makise

Thank you Zero, a Jude avatar suits you. Let us be excited for Xillia together <3 Now for Deadly Premonition, Survival Horror, 39.99, SOLD! Ah April's starting to look crowded though, might let it ease up a bit in early May, since only Revelations is coming in that month now, while I've got The Last of Us in June.

              • =) Thanks!

I might have to pick up Revelations as well. I finally got a 3DS, but it seems like the console version is a better choice.

I’ve had a very love/hate relationship with the Resident Evil series for a few years now. I think Revelations looks to be the best RE game created in quite a while, but this is just my opinion.

That relationship I have with RE attracted to me to Deadly Premonition. I’ve sorta been looking for my style of survival horror in video games for several years now. I was honestly stunned that I managed to miss out on this game before, I didn’t even know about it to be honest.

I’ve very excited for The Last of Us! Naughty Dog is one of my favorite studios, and they have been since the Crash days. I’m a huge Uncharted fan, and I could just go on and on here. xD

                • Kurisu Makise

I’ve never had a love/hate relationship with RE since I got into RE pretty late. I jumped on the RE5 demo when it was first released way back but I was still in Square-Enix/RPG only mode so I didn’t end up picking it up until Gold Edition and that was like a year or two after the Gold Edition was released even. From there, I didn’t even play it till 2012 so I’m extremely late to the party. That’s probably why I’m obsessed with it now xD

I’m excited to play Revelations because the small taste of playing as Jill in RE5: Gold wasn’t enough. So if you’re getting it (on PS3 that is), then I’d be glad to play with you. Meanwhile The Last of Us will most likely surpass our expectations of Survival entirely. And if Deadly Premonition has a different feel then that’ll just feed the growing appetite ^0^

                  • I used to be just like that. I only played JRPGs and that was pretty much it. I finally got a PC in like 2003, which is when I really started trying out more MMORPGs. I still stuck with Japanese games though, for the most part.

(Basically – If it didn’t have Squaresoft on it, I was skeptical. Which means I probably didn’t play it.)

I would play a few non RPGs here and there, but not very much. (Most of those games were still Japanese. Stuff like Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Super Smash Bros, Street Fighter etc.) It wasn’t until around 2005 when I really started to give other genres a real chance. I kinda opened up myself to a bunch of other games, and it was a good decision. I still love JRPGs, they will always be my favorite genre in video games.

I enjoy a wide variety of games now days, and it makes me sad to think I would have likely passed up games like Uncharted when I was younger.

                    • Kurisu Makise

You pretty much told the story of my life (in gaming) as I mentioned on Open Forum xD (seriously, that’s scary, right down to the Square Soft/Square Enix logo) Though I Think the Indiana Jones feel of Uncharted might have at least made me give it a shot, don’t think I would have straight passed it. Certainly if it looked like Gears of War I definitely would have back in those days. 2005 was a good time for change, I also got hooked on handhelds the next year and wasted most of this gen just like Japan did ahaha D=

                    • (I thought I remembered reading that on the open forum. I don’t always have time to reply, and I read lots of comments, sorry about that.)

I’m late to the portable party. Trying to play catch up. =/

I’ve done the majority of my gaming on PS3 this generation. Life hasn’t allowed me as much time to play games though, I completed way more games in previous generations.

I didn’t mean to ignore the invitation to play RE. I just can’t be for sure, with my erratic schedule, along with my very inconsistent internet. I can’t hardly play online, with all the connection dropping and stuff. =/

                    • Kurisu Makise

No worries, no worries. If the stars align and we’re able to enjoy Revelations together; awesome! If not I’m sure there’ll be opportunities for other games at some point. Being late to the portable party isn’t too bad since you can for the most part play through most of the good titles on Sony side and all the titles on Nintendo side. Once you’re fully hooked on portable gaming, you’ll wish Vita gets even more ports just so you’re not tethered to the TV xD And if not at least there’ll be Remote Play on PS4. It’s a shame Deadly Premonition will miss that potential chance, oh well I’ve got a bit more TV time than I used to for now.

                    • I just need Square-Enix to upload more games to the PSN. I’ve been wanting to play Birth By Sleep for a long time now. I’m getting a Vita though, so i need it to be digital in order to play it. =/

                    • Solomon_Kano

This. So much this. My PSP’s analog nub is damaged, so I haven’t been able to finish BBS. Being able to play it on my Vita would be nice. That and the other handful of SE games not on PSN for whatever reason (Star Ocean 1/2, the Valkyrie Profile games, FF1/2, etc.).

                    • That sucks. They need to get with the program and start uploading more games to PSN. I bet Crisis Core and Birth By Sleep would skyrocket to best selling PSP games quickly. The other games you mentioned would do quite well too.

I hope it’s not some stupid licensing thing, that would really suck.

                    • Solomon_Kano

You’ve just reminded me that I have Crisis Core. I never really got far in that game, again due to my analog. They’d definitely see good sales of they were out up on PSN. I know people whose PSPs have died, had a PSPgo, or only have a Vita that would love them.

I’m hoping it’s not a licensing thing either, but I can’t imagine what else would be stopping them. Dissidia 012, BBS, and The 3rd Birthday all came out in the same year, I think, but BBS is the only one that isn’t on PSN. So it’s not a release timing thing.

                    • I forgot about the 3rd Birthday. I might have to check it out when I get the Vita.

                    • Solomon_Kano

I need to get it myself. I’ve heard good things. I wanna finish the Parasite Eve games first though. Backlog. Ugh.

                    • I played the original games years ago. The first game will always hold a special place in my heart, along with Aya.

                    • Solomon_Kano

Hm. A warning then: I hear T3B’s story is horrible by the series’ standards and that it ruins Aya’s character. But then that was hyperbole by a guy who used to troll Andriasang, so take it with a grain of salt lol. I hear it’s gameplay is great either way, though.

                    • Kurisu Makise

I wish we could multi-reply, oh wait maybe we can let’s see… @Solomon_Kano:disqus just wait for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMix, BBS will be exposed to you then =P! Though Square Enix does need to start uploading the rest of their stuff. Crisis Core on PSN or an HD port to Vita would be nice assuming they did something about the music. Then there’s Valkyrie Profile Lenneth, what’s the excuse there?

  • Bloodios

It’s wonderful how I’ve gotten close (and am going to) have a full year of free PlayStation Plus, all thanks to these various 3-months-bonus offers.
