Buy it on one system, get it free on the other.

Hotline Miami is heading to PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 this spring as a Cross-Buy game, publisher Devolver Digital has announced.

Developer Dennaton Games revealed last year that it had been “talking to Sony” about the possibily of the game appearing on Sony devices, saying they would need “someone to port it” for them.

Released on PC last year, the 2D top-down action game went on to sell over 300,000 copies, prompting a sequel which is now in development.

The game’s Cross-Buy feature will allow players to purchase a single copy of the game and play it on both platforms.

  • Yesss, I’m ecstatic over this news! My crappy laptop can’t run anything these days, so I was hoping so bad for a PS3 version. Cannot wait.

  • Sevyne

Now this is fantastic. Cross-buy too? Sign me up!

  • Awesome!

  • uhawww

I don’t get all the excitement for this game. Are modern gamers all that blood-thirsty? Never played the game but based on trailer footage it looks like an over the top gory, bloody, violent, mindless point and click shooter. Not really my cup of tea.

    • Vampires have needs, too, man. =/

      • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

ok, now I can hit the sheets (or the futon, in my case). That made my day XD

    • uhawww

Check some gameplay footage. It’s actually a very high-energy fast-paced strategic endeavor. After the first few stages, it actually becomes a very engaging matter of planning and executing (pun intended). It is FAR from mindless. Also, the soundtrack is amazing.

ok, so it’s not a mindless gorefest, but a strategic top-down mass murder simulator with an amazing soundtrack, got it ^^

well, to be honest, most action adventure games are about mass murdering loads of “baddies”. this seems more focused. Now I get what the fuss is all about. great that it’s cross-buy and I’m all the more happy that Sony made it happen, as I understand the developers could not port it themselves and asked Sony for help.

  • I have it on Steam, but I think I would rather play it on the Vita. (I haven’t had the chance to play my PC version yet.)

  • Wasn’t interested because of its high violence and bloodshed… Since it has Crossbuy, I’ll take a look at it…
