Enhanced port adds additional content, high-def visuals.

After multiple leaks, Capcom has confirmed Resident Evil: Revelations, initially launched for 3DS in February last year, will make the jump to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC digital download on May 21 in North America and on May 24 in Europe for $49.99 (consoles) / $39.99 (PC). A digital version will also be available for PlayStation 3 on May 21, with Xbox 360 and Wii U digital versions to follow.

The enhanced port will add additional content, including a “terrifying new enemy, extra difficulty mode, and improvements to Raid Mode such as new weapons, skill sets, and the opportunity to play as Hunk and other characters,” as well as “high quality HD visuals, enhanced lighting effects, and an immersive sound experience,” according to Capcom. Raid Mode is an online co-op or solo mode where players take on hordes of enemies across a variety of missions while leveling up and earning weapon upgrades.

In Japan, the game is known as Biohazard Revelations: Unveiled Edition. View the first screenshots at the gallery. Watch the debut trailer below.

So it will launch for every platform but Vita.

    Good ***king job CAPCOM.

    • It is a bit odd. I’m sure they could have ported it. I understand a lot of RE fans are upset over the whole RE PSP debacle, so a PS Vita port is the least they could do, I would think.

      • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

They could show at least some support for the platform. MT framework would be stunning on that OLED.

      • KurisuMakise

I’m curious about this myself, every platform but PS Vita…what happened there? Even PSN via PS3 is getting a digital version. Sounds like easy money, yet Capcom has indeed ignored the platform outside of ports of their fighting games. Something isn’t adding up.

    • Prodigy-X

You know Capcom hates PlayStation for some reason and will never give them a exclusive game unless Sony pays them or bring a game to the PS Vita. That is why Capcom is a bunch of ***wipes.

  • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

dafuq is the Vita version? They made a 3DS version ffs. Revelaitions (sic ^^) is still visually the most impressive title on 3DS (shows how awesome NT Framework really is juxtaposed with UE3) so they could make Vita’s OLED sing. They could make it fucking sing!

    • Bloodios

I personally think that it would be better for Capcom to develop another Resident Evil exclusively for the Vita, or at the very least, a cross-platform project for both the 3DS and the Vita.

Revelations is already being ported to various higher specs consoles, so I don’t think a Vita version would really do the system any good at this point. If given a condition where there is a choice without any compromise, wouldn’t most people prefer to buy the game for their more powerful consoles? For the people who prefer portability, the Vita might be a good choice but then there is the fact is that the 3DS version is already released way before this. The 3DS is cheaper, and its sales is greater than the Vita, so the probability of people owning a 3DS is obviously higher than a Vita. There is also a likely possibility of the people who own the Vita already had a PS3 in possession. So, portability-wise, the might-have-existed Vita version suffers the disadvantage of having the 3DS version being released before it, while specs-wise, it isn’t comparable to home consoles, and sales-wise, it simply can’t compare to either 3DS, PS3 or Xbox 360. Also, people might demand cross-buys being an option for owners of both the PS3 and Vita, but I don’t think Capcom would find that or any of the reasons I mentioned above to be profitable enough to warrant a Vita version for Revelations.

      • I would agree on this sadly…

The only way to make the Vita version shine it to include cross-buy… Since it’s Capcom we’re talking about, I find that unlikely to happen…

        • KurisuMakise

It wouldn’t have been hard to Cross-Buy this title, it made too much sense considering the platforms it’s coming for as well. As for profitability? I’m sure the extra marketing Sony would have given the title if it was Cross-buy would have made up for it, it’s not like the 3DS version sold that well in NA anyway. Plus they did it for UMvC3 and SFxT (porting to Vita).

          • Factor in the 3DS’s majority of consumers consist of children and NA isn’t a handheld-loving country, I find that hardly surprising…

            • KurisuMakise

Indeed, though it’s not to say NA doesn’t love handhelds, it’s that the majority of the market is best served between Social Network games, as well as mobile games. Hardcore gamers haven’t quite embraced the idea of not being tethered to their TV, at least not in significant amounts. Hopefully that slowly changes a bit and prices come down for everything. I feel $20-$29.99 is the real sweet spot and anything higher is just unreasonable. Actually even for this on PS3 I think it’s price is too high.

              • I thought they like to sit down and play in one place only…I find $20-$29.99 price tag impossible unless you’re referring to ports and smaller games…

For a year old handheld game… Yes, I thought the price is too high as well…

                • KurisuMakise

I was referring to handheld games specifically, projects like Birth by Sleep and Revelations (when it’s not a year old port). You also might be right about being in one place, nothing wrong with the comfy couch but I’ve been hoping people would embrace the “comfy bed” or “When significant other is on TV” or “Not enough time to finish the campaign at home but wow this commute to work, could do it then” attitude =(

  • PrinceHeir

    awesome :D

also can we get the Mercenaries 3D or just make a full mercenaries game with RE6 mechanics but more refine.

i still think Jill here looks like Sheva from RE5 :P

    • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

just imagine how gorgeous that backside will look in HD ^^

      • Ali

Already had my fill from Chris’s in RE6, this’ll be a dream :O

      • PrinceHeir

        that ass?? :P

  • DesmaX

lol, US$50 for a HD Remaster

    • MrKappa

It wouldn’t be Capcom if they didn’t sell it for that price. HD RE4 and CVX are still going for $20 after all.

  • zakou

Digital download? no retail release for consoles? ps3? o.o

    • I don’t think you read the article correctly. xD

      • zakou

xD i get panic attacks when i see games being digital downloads and the word “retail” version is nowhere to be found.

  • NCloud

I would like a Vita version, but after Capcom not releasing RE on the hugely successful PSP….. I don’t think we will see any RE title on the Vita

  • Looks like my WiiU will make its way out of the closet very soon.

  • Charlie

Capcom. You are slowly, but surely redeeming yourself.

  • Bloodios

high quality HD visuals, enhanced lighting effects, and an immersive sound experience

Let’s just hope that it is as good as they are making it out to be…

    • DrForbidden

It will no doubt be better, but marketing speak is marketing speak. Take it with a grain of salt. Remember RE4 HD and don’t get your hope up too high.

  • Should I wait for this version, or purchase the 3DS version? I was planning on trying to pick it up for my new 3DS soonish.

    • DrForbidden

The only advantage the 3DS version would have is the 3D. The Unveiled edition gets additional content. I’d say wait for the PS3/X360 version, but then I’m a completionist to a fault.

    • Then you should ask yourself; Do you like going anywhere or sitting down at your comfy home instead? Portability or additional content?

  • Zohar127

Am I the only one that just get depressed by anything RE related these days?

    • DrForbidden

Revelations is apparently the best RE game since RE4. Not saying much, but that’s something, at least.
