"And it's on," says Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson.

Xbox LIVE’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb has posted a timer counting down to E3 2013 on his blog, with the tagline, “And it’s on.”

Microsoft is heavily believed to be revealing the next Xbox at E3, which occurs in June. PlayStation 4 is also expected to make an appearance. Expect a great show.

  • A bit early don’t you think?

    • Raiyu

      a bit? lol

    • They are exited to bring out the next XBOX its been a long 7 years I think we are all exited… I hope it aint a let down lol.

      • Dean Winchester

i’m guessing you mean “Excited” but I like your word better.

Every year when MS took the stage at E3 I promptly “EXITED”.

    • Dean Winchester

When you have ZERO games to announce you set up a countdown to a gaming expo that everyone already knows the date for. It helps build up false hope until their big reveal of NO GAMES just like the last 3 E3’s they “attended”.

MS is the ass end of a sad joke in the games industry.

      • Rezar

Regardless their strategy works. I do agree with you that Microsoft is a joke, look at what happened to Rareware who are stuck making Kinect games.

  • Kou

Probably next XBOX. Nothing else would be worth hyping this far ahead. On another note, PS3 sales are gonna pass 360s at any time….that won’t look so great for 360 since it launched a year earlier. I wonder if Microsoft is gonna follow their strategy again this time by trying to launch before the PS4 just to have a higher number of sales over longer time again.

    • KingOptimusOrigins111

Won’t happen. If they both are coming out at the same time and they are both priced at $399 then you can expect it to be a hard choice for consumers. I don’t think Microsoft Next Xbox has chance of leading over Sony’s Next PlayStation because Microsoft Xbox won’t get any exclusive content just like the Next PlayStation because majority of the third party developers are probably going to advertise on all platforms the game is available for.

      • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Yea, you just forgot one little piece of information: Sony have around 5x more exclusive top-tier studios than MS so your argument is not really valid. 3rd parties generally work on a multi-platform basis unless MS’s greens are involved, so it’s nothing to write home about.

Obviously Sony will have the highest number of high quality exclusives next gen. While Nintendo have high-quality 1st parties, Sony have high-quality and quantity. Sony’s 1st party studios have proven already that they can indeed keep up with and sometimes even surpass Nintendo’s best studios.

        • KingOptimusOrigins111

I wasn’t talking about first party I was talking about third party look closer, so your argument is not really valid.

          • And why would 1st party games not be relevant to the discussion?

You were actually talking about lack of exclusive content on the next platforms, which won’t really happen because first and second-party developers will provide both consoles with those. The fact third-party developers will stick to multiplatform releases put even more weight on first-party games when it’s time to choose which console to buy.

Let me give you an example: if I want to play something like the next-gen Call of Duty, it doesn’t matter whether I get an X720 or PS4. However, what if I really like Halo, or Uncharted? Isn’t that going to affect my purchase decision?

            • KingOptimusOrigins111

No I’m just basing it on both Microsoft and Sony past this gen If third party developers finally step and advertise on all platforms then Microsoft won’t have a chance to lead over Sony in the sales because Microsoft thrives off of Third Party exclusive content more than their first party.

Now if we are talking about exclusives yes they play a major role but based off of Microsoft history they won’t release much new ips because they would want to keep the primary focus on Halo or Gears at the end of the year with Fable or Forza and probably focus on Kinect games the whole year and xbox live exclusive downloadable games.

Halo and Uncharted are on the same level in terms on sales and they both will sale the same buy the end of the year.

            • Dean Winchester

if you love Halo, Forza and Fable your choice is clear.
Sadly Bungie, and Peter Molyneaux ran for the hills so the “soul” of Halo and Fable are now gone.
Gears is 3rd party but the God of the dudebro’s left in a blaze of shame recently as well so this means two things.
              1. Gears will never be the same.
              2. Gears will be multiplat. Guaranteed.

Now if you want a variety of amazing exclusives to choosefrom there is only one company in gaming that brings the heat.

              Hint: it aint MS.

            • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

Thanks for making it clear. That’s what I meant.

          • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

What Daniel said. You were talking about a lack of “exclusive content” which is BS considering Sony’s and Nintendo’s vast 1st party. MS’s studios are stellar, don’t get me wrong, but Forza, Halo and Gears won’t be enough to convince me to buy XBox 3 for those few excellent exclusives only.

            • KingOptimusOrigins111

Yeah they really need to add a few more franchises to convince me to get it and get rid of paying for live and roll out something similar to PS+ Program.

              • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

I just hope + picks up steam sooner than later, right now the free games added to the IGC are a friggin’ joke. I was so happy with the service until vita was added with awesome games. after that each week’s been more disappointing than the previous one.

        • KingOptimusOrigins111

Who gave you a disagree obliviously you miss read what I said.

      • Well.. Microsoft recruited some new studios these past years lately… They might have a chance at exclusive first party titles, that is if they won’t go make multimedia apps…

“Third party developers are probably going to advertise on all platforms the game is available for”
Microsoft already done it this gen so why can’t they do it on the next again?

        • KingOptimusOrigins111

“Well.. Microsoft recruited some new studios these past years lately… They might have a chance at exclusive first party titles, that is if they won’t go make multimedia apps…”

But we haven’t seen not one new ip game from them. those new studios have been focusing on xbox live downloadable exclusive games and kinect titles and lets keep in mind that they are rumored to announce an Xbox Tablet which maybe why they bought those studios as extra backup for help like if they wanted Xbox to go portable in the future or something happens to the Gears Ip.

“Microsoft already done it this gen so why can’t they do it on the next again?”

See Sony thought the same thing this gen but look what happened to the franchises that were exclusive to PS2 from third party, they went multiplat this gen and with the Valve Steam Console on the horizon how do we know they may want to bring those franchises to the Steam console, exactly we don’t know. The only reason Microsoft use their money this gen is because developers like Crytek, Crystal Dynamics, Bethesda, Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and more complain how hard it is to develop for PS3, so they felt the need to develop on 360 first then port it to PS3 and that is what majority of third party developers have done besides DICE, Square Enix Final Fantasy division, Ubisoft, some parts of EA, & a few others. With next gen its different because the PS4 will probably be running on AMD which is easier to develop for than PS3 Cells Processors which means no more complaining, no more porting, no more advertising for a specific console third party sides of things.

Then on top of that next gen games are going to crazy expensive to develop for. EA and Ubisoft have said that before and as this gen is coming to an end look around you most developers are advertising on all platforms because they know next gen games are going to cost a lot to make so they need to advertise on all platforms to inform people and get more money. I mean AC III was advertise on PS3 but it had another commercial advertise for all platforms same thing with Far Cry 3 and Fifa 13.

          • First answer, noted… Second answer, I might wanna wait out for PS4’s specs before saying anything… I have some doubts that Sony would give up the Cell Technology, which they spent a fortune into it, and developers are finally starting to know what to do with it…

If I were them, I feel bad for punishing the third-party on learning how to use the Cell Tech… All those knowledge and experiences gone to waste…

            • KingOptimusOrigins111

They have to so they can make it easier or else the third party developers will won’t to keep advertising on the the next xbox and it will be 2006 all over again and most of the rumors are pointing at AMD A series over the cells but I’ll wait for the real specs.

  • im Not Ready for Ps4,But Maybe is Good for FFVXIII :)

    • KingOptimusOrigins111

My God that would be epic to see Versus on PS4 but I would rename it and release it on PS4 & PS3 March 2014.

LOL!!! Love it when people disagree. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!!!

  • oh F%$# nvm I just remembered last year’s E3… ugh!

    • Dean Winchester

And the previous 2 years before that.

Ahhhhh Kinect. Its the future. Wont you jump in?

  • paperclichepixel

E3, is always good news, even if you didn’t like the presentation.

  • 浪黒雷 (ro-kurorai)

After their utterly embarrassingly disappointing E3 and GC/TGS-no-show I bloody hope they unveil XBox 3 at E3 2013. Otherwise that mouthpiece’s Hryb’s countdown will be a huge joke.

  • Solomon_Kano

Welp, color me excited. I don’t plan to get MS’ Nextbox since I didn’t particularly care for the 360, but if they blow the doors off the hinges I’d definitely consider coming back into the fold. One way or the other, console unveilings always make for the most entertaining E3s. Should be good to see Sony and MS one up each other.

I have a feeling Sony will have more to show for the lessons they’ve learned from the PS3 and Vita’s launches, so I’m interested to see what MS comes with. Apart from COD. We all know that’s gonna be a big part of their show, but I’m curious as to what else they’ll come with. A Halo 5 tease is a given and Fable is supposedly continuing on, but I’m hoping they’ve got some new IP to show. They really need some new blood in the core Xbox brand.

On Sony’s side, I’m confident they’ll have some first party stuff to wow me with. I’m particularly looking forward to learning what Sucker Punch has been up to. That said, I’m more concerned with what they do with the Vita at E3 than any PS4 stuff. I hope it gets a better showing than last year, though I’m expecting it to see worse what with Sony needing to show off the PS4 and also touting the PS3’s continued existence. Y’know, 10 year life cycle and all that. It should be interesting to see how they juggle it all. Assuming they don’t leave one out completely in favor of spreading announcements for it across Gamescom, TGS, and (maybe) Comic-Con. That would actually be cool with me. Preferably the system they do that for would be the PS3, seeing as the PS4 and Vita will need the E3 publicity much more.

  • EspadaKiller

Looks like this year’s E3 is gonna be hell of a ride. PS4, Next Xbox…oh my.

  • xMCXx

Oh, boy, I hope Usher comes back~

    • Dean Winchester

Wanna see the bottom of youre avatars shoe?

  • King_motha

    yall seem happy.
    ill see wat’s up

  • Ramza Beoulve

E3 cant wait to see all 2013 and 2014 has for us XD

  • But will it have any good retail exclusives this time other then Halo/Gears? Rare made some decent games early on for 360, but now they’re just a shovelware company.

  • zakou

Lol all this talk about PS4/New Xbox and FFVersusXIII still has no release date O_O mind = blown xD

Why Square Enix, Why?! Do we have to wait untill Square releases their own console before we can play VersusXIII?

We should all unite aand sue Square for false advertising, Verus was one of the reasons why i bought a PS3.

  • Locksus

Meh. Not particularly excited for any of the consoles at this point. I’ve just recently stepped into PC gaming and nothing that consoles offer won’t get me excited for them. I’ve had a much better time playing on a computer than ever playing on any of the consoles.

    That’s just my opinion, though

  • Omid

Its not early for Xbox!!! It has been about 7 years after the release of Xbox 360!! Though you can say that to Playstation since its only been 3-4 years after the release of PS3!
