Smaller model lacks internet connectivity and GameCube support.

Nintendo will introduce a smaller version of its 2006-launched Wii on December 7. It will be available exclusively in Canada during the holiday season.

The Wii Mini includes a red and black console, red Wii MotionPlus controller and Nunchuck, and a sensor bar for $99.99.

The system will not offer any internet connectivity or backwards compatibility with GameCube titles. However, it is fully compatible with Wii’s 1,300-plus library of retail titles.

Visit Wii Mini’s official website here.

Thanks, Best Buy.

  • Its useless unless you only care about Wii games and don’t use the internet.. who does not use the internet now in days? O_O

If no one is looking forward to purchasing a WiiIU at the moment but would like to catch up on some Wii gems such as The Last Story, Xenoblade Chronicles, etc. this would be your best bet.

  • I would actually buy one if it had wifi and gamecube support -.- just cause it looks sexy

  • Gaara D.Dragon

Very pretty but at this point 100 bucks for a wii is too much

    WiiU preorder cancelled.

  • im not seeing much point why Nintendo is doing this because its Canada this should be sold in 3rd world countries

Only useful for the broke. There’s no other reason to get this. Buy a WiiU instead!!!

  • Sevyne

Oh this won’t confuse stupid parents and ruin Christmas for their kids at all. Nope, won’t happen I’m telling ya!

  • HeatPhoenix

The only reason I would want to own it is for completion’s sake.
It’s a Wii stripped of every single feature for more money than most Wiis go for on eBay.

  • You’d think with something called Wii mini they’d offer dimensions or a size comparison… it looks pretty bulky from the shots I’ve seen

“…it is fully compatible with Wii’s 1,300-plus library of retail titles.”

2 out of those 1,300 are still playable for me; Brawl, and Kart.

  • fireemblembeast

WTF? Did they just annouce that now, like a week before…? >___< And look at Nintendo, making small adjustments and calling them new systems! It reminds me of a certain other company…Seriously, who would buy this? The extra price for a normal wii with internet and GC support is not that much more and is totally worth the difference, because who wants a system without internet?

  • DrForbidden

I don’t get it. Why exclusive to Canada? Has Canada been demanding a smaller WII while the rest of the world was satisfied with their regular-sized WII?

That wasn’t a pun, by the way.

  • PrinceHeir

ehh i prefer the normal wii with BC and all :)
