Even though it was confirmed yesterday it still stings.

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

      stings is an understatement :[

  • KingOptimusOrigins111

The pain of Versus not being their it hurts too much. :'(

  • Kita

*sigh* So far, its not worth watching TGS this year…. I want Versus… T__T

  • Kurai Warrior

There lineup is pretty crap actually.

    • Malcolm Reynolds

Bravely Default, FF14:2.0, Hitman Absolution, FF3 psp, and Sleeping Dogs begs to differ pal.

Sad that you cant see through your own impatience to recognize that the “world doesnt end with you” nor does it revolve around you either.

There are a good amount of great looking games on that list. Remove your head from versus 13’s unreleased arse for a minute and you may actually be able to see that.
      Or not.

      • Kurai Warrior

We got 8 mobile/arcade titles, sleeping dogs is already out, FF III is just a port, Hitman has been shown A TON already so it’s not that exciting that it’s there. I guess that leaves XIV (Only for MMO fans) and a 3DS game (isn’t even confirmed to be localized). Cool.

      • KainArkanos

I hardly call FF3 and FF14 worth a mention in the end.  FF14 was a heavy fuck up for their company and this is just a rehash that the people deserve because they wasted money on the utter trash they put out on release.  Meanwhile, FF3 on the PSP is nothing new.  All they did was port the DS one.  If they had actually decided to do a remake of it and make it look like an actual PSP game, I might be happier, but no, its still as crap cartoony looking as the DS one.

        • Malcolm Reynolds

          Crap cartoony looking?

So you only play gritty realistic games then?

No fear, another gears of war is coming next year for your broad taste in games.

In the mean time youshould check out Battlefield 3 if you havent already. Its not cartoony at all.

Btw: addressing 2 of the 6 titles I named doesnt negate my comment but it does show your negativity ran out of steam.

  • LOL why do we bother with hoping for Versus anymore. We should forget about the game because SE is not gonna give it to us anytime soon. I guess the rumors where true about what the unknown devs said early this year about Versus not coming out for a few more years. Guess its safe to say it will be a PS4 game. Lets move on guys.

  • Malcolm Reynolds

The comments. Still all about VS13 tears.

I’d say let the whining begin but this article was posted 30 minutes ago which means I am exactly 31 minutes late.

    • Kurai Warrior

You know you don’t have to read the comments. Seriously if we want to whine, let us. We aren’t hurting anyone.

I hope the mods start paying attention to you because you are just straight up rude.

      • Malcolm Reynolds

Well if it isnt Mr. “I’m going to buy VS13 used” again.

You see, if it is against the “gematsu guidelines” for me to “whine” about MS garbage HW and utter lack of compelling worthwhile SW in an MS article then it should also be against those same guidelines to continue to make every article that mentions Square Enix a b**** fest about vs13 and how you hate them b/c how dare they take time to develop a game and make YOU wait on it whilst releasing copious amounts of other quality games while YOU wait.
When they make a new announcement of a promising title, instead of discussing the merits of said title it immediately turns into “F U Squeenix you rat bastards. How about you stop delaying MY game that I have been waiting 6 F’ing years for?!? I will now buy the game I have been so impatiently waiting for all this time…USED b/c I just cant find it in my jaded heart to support you jerks for trying to make VS13 as good a game as possible. Maybe next time you will release a game when I say so instead of when its actually ready. My idle threats of purchasing used will show you!
And I know you guys dont read message boards or comment sections on the web but I will still ruin every thread I enter by singing the same damn out of tune song every chance I get! Guidelines be damned.”

Apparently the commenting guidelines only apply to people who want to bash MS. Sony and Square haters are welcome here.

So guess what buddy…I’ll continue to call you and others out as long as the whining continues. If you dont like my comments you simply do not have to read them.

        Sound familiar?

As for the whining, please…carry on my friend. Its A-OK.

        • Kurai Warrior

I’m definitely not reading all of that. Keep getting pissed at other people’s reactions. Fine by me.

          • Kurai Warrior

BTW, for future reference, I’m a girl.

            • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

A girl on the internet D: omgeeze!!!

              sorry I had too XD

              • Kurai Warrior

Lol, well I don’t want him calling me Mr. it’s weird. xD

                • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

XD cant blame you, cant imagine that isnt awkward…..kinda like how everyone thinks Im black XD…I guess thats more funny then anything else

                  • Kurai Warrior

                    Hahahaha. Wow XD

                    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

The part that makes it really funny is a black man stole my dad and brothers Identity one time XD

                      And they are very white(norwegian)

            • Malcolm Reynolds

That explains all the beligerent tears then doesnt it?

              • Kurai Warrior

                Oh good there’s the sexism.
I was hoping I wouldn’t get a snarky comment like that, but well, I guess I can’t expect much from a user like you.

          • Malcolm Reynolds

I wouldnt expect you to. For you to read my post it would require you to stop flooding the internet with your childish whining.
I also imagine its hard to read whilst your mascara is running down your face yeah?

  • Can’t I just pray/ask/beg for a Versus XIII trailer?

    you guys did last time.

  • SirAuron14

    umm.. where is FFX HD!

    • syaznifaiq

Yeah.. at least show some news about FFX HD … .

      • SirAuron14

it is a shame, square isnt my fav dev, they have taken too long with their game releases.

        • Malcolm Reynolds

Square Enix have released at least 30 games in the last 6 years that I can name off the top of my head. A majority of them being very good games at that.

Im betting the ones I cant name off the top of the dome bump that number to 50 or more. That comes out to about 8-10 titles a year. Nearly 1 a month.

I guess 1 a week is what you are expecting?

Rockstar has released what….3 games this gen?
RDR, GTA4 and Max Payne 3?
I bet you have no beef with them huh?

You know what? Nevermind. Trying to reason with the anti square crowd is like trying to reason with an MS supporter. I’d have better luck convincing a liberal to vote for Romney in November.

          • Kurai Warrior

Yet you try to reason with us on every article every time. Doesn’t sound like you are gonna give up anytime soon. You won’t change people’s minds here. Why are you wasting your time trying to make people like SE?

            • Malcolm Reynolds

I dont give a rats furry crack if you like SE. Im just sick of you crying about how much you hate them.

              See the difference?

              • FlameEmperor

Then ignore it? It’s not directed at you so why bother responding if it won’t change anything?
You’re only wasting your time when you do.

                • Malcolm Reynolds

B/C last I checked these comment sections were meant for inteligent discussion about the topic at hand. Not a dear diary hate forum for crybabies to piss and moan and provide nothing relevant to any potential discussion that may or may not be taking place.

There are guidelines to this websites comment sections of which I have been reminded more than once by Sal and Zero. If I have to follow them then so do you and the rest of the “VS13 has betrayed me” crybabies.

So no, I wont ignore them. Ignoring them does not make them go away contrary to what Kindergarten teaches want you to believe.

                  • Kurai Warrior

You really think your constant arguing with people is going to get them to just magically go away? Right.

                  • FlameEmperor

I’m not saying it would go away. I’m just saying resorting to name calling and acting more immature than those you criticize will not make it stop. Some people are just frustrated that a company they love would not release information about a game they want to buy. I don’t mind waiting for a new game but at least I would like information about a game that’s been in development for this long.

Insulting others because of your dislikes with them does not make you better than they are, it just shows that you’re even lower than them.

              • Kurai Warrior

I’m not gonna stop sharing my feelings about my former favorite company being extremely disappointing this gen just to please a user. Once again, why don’t you just ignore it?

          • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Most of their games are handheld games, which is fine and all but quite frankly I dont care for handheld games, and rockstar isnt nearly as huge as square,so the comparison doesnt work,if you are too compare them compare them to namco/bandai

          • KainArkanos

The amount of games a company makes hardly speaks for the goodness of the company, and Square has a habit of buying companies ever since they became Square Enix and adding new games that aren’t even theirs to their name, like Deus Ex.  I don’t call it a Square game when they do it, I still call it the game of the previous company, because they generally merge the employees in.

            • Malcolm Reynolds

Whether YOU call it a Square game or not means absolutely zilch.

Sorry but choosing to ignore something doesnt make it cease to be so.

  • FlameEmperor

Bravely Default and Final Fantasy XIV and thats about it for me…..
Seeing the list and whats missing from it just makes it even more sad x.x

    • Yeah, i’d like to see more FF XIV.

      • FlameEmperor

I can’t wait to see what they have to show off about it at TGS!
I’ve been looking for a new MMO to play lately and I hope this will be it.

  • Fantasytales

not interested on anything on this list…

  • No versus, no ffx hd, type-0 localization, no nothing…

    • Malcolm Reynolds

      TGS: Tokoyo Game Show.

Why do we expect NA and EUR localization announcements to be made at a Japanese Game conference meant for the Japanese populace in the country of Japan?

      • There are some examples of this happening before though, Monster Hunter Freedom United for instance:

“In the 2008 Tokyo Game Show, it was announced that the game would be released in North America as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite in Spring 2009.”

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Seems like they hate us :

    • Advent_Andaryu

I wouldn’t expect a type-0 localization since this is a Japanese game show and that’s a game that’s been out in Japan for like a year. Even if there has been a case of a localization announcement before, that’s not something anyone should expect.

  • TerrenceG9

Black-Ops is being published by squeenix in Japan? Neat.

Btw, anybody ever hear anything about Bravely Default? The game looks neat, but I haven’t seen too many updates on it. Anybody think it’s gonna come westsideeeeee (insert gang sign here)

    • lol that made my laugh (the west side thing) – got a mental image of Tupac

Anyhow, this news actually came from a Square Enix America press release, which lists the game as Japan Only for now. So nothing yet. =(

    • Malcolm Reynolds

I want to say Squeenix has been publishing CoD in JPN since at least MW2.

Could be wrong though. Either way it would be kinda neat to have a CoD game with a Square logo on the box!

As fo Bravely Default, I have my fingers crossed it will come stateside.

  • I understand everyone is upset about Versus not being on this list. With that said, we already have a proper thread to discuss it not being shown at TGS.

Feel free to discuss Versus in that thread.

I’ll also remind everyone to keep the commenting guidelines in mind before posting. Thank you for your cooperation.

    – Zero

Edit : You can also discuss anything on your mind in the Open Forum.

    • Well my friends, I’m not an anarchist, nor a great leader of the revolution, but we all want to play the final fantasy versus. But Square-Enix is not respecting us and continues to release games saga Toriyama, then as I became the talk, we have to unite and boycott the next game not buying.
They have to show us and prove that versus is actually being done with a new trailer, a game player, a demo, whatever it is, because words are not enough.
They make more than 6 years we expect, and we’re all upset we have fans from all parts of the globe such as Germany, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Spain, Italy, France, Holland, Japan , China and the whole region asiatica and others I will not mention.
I believe that if this boycott she’ll have to move, because they need to learn to respect us.

  • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Its as if square wants its fans to hate them >:

    • Luna Kazemaru

      I don’t hate them…oh wait oops.

  • Kazziyan

Sucks LR: FFXIII and Versus are not present.

I’m looking forward to Bravely Default, though!

  • I’m looking forward to seeing more of Final Fantasy XIV – especially with regard to the PS3 version and the new, redesigned areas. While I play the PC version now, I’d be quite willing to buy the PS3 version for those days when I just want to kick back and relax – it’s all dependent on the PS3 version’s redesigned UI, but I have faith that Yoshi-P’s team will deliver :)

Does anyone know if Square have a closed theater this year as well as the public one?

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

I just want it too go free to play

      • TBH I’d rather it didn’t – the problem with F2P MMOs is that they generally end up being horrendously unbalanced in favour of the real-life rich. Many of them end up being not so much free to play as pay to win. The only MMO I’ve seen do F2P right is Guild Wars 1 (not sure about 2 since I haven’t played it yet), but games like Star Trek Online were ruined by F2P. What’s more, XIV is designed around the subscription model and it’d take a huge amount of work to make it a good F2P game. It lacks any kind of vanity items or much scope for in-game upgrades.

The thing is, at least with the subscription, everyone is on a level playing field.

        • Rydak

I agree on the subs for XIV.  Something to remember is that XIV was a failure at launch, so all of those years making and releasing a game that was pretty much bare-bones has lost them a lot of money.  On top of that, they put new people on the project.  Which, as a side note, I have to commend SE for not scrapping it and trying really hard to re-establish it.  I also think a lot of it lies with Yoshi P. – he has been great with not only his hard work but actually keeping in touch with the XIV community, which is also unheard of with SE.  So, while the game is designed around having the subscription model, it also has a lot of money to make up for all the loss it has incurred.  I played it off and on up until they started doing subs to try other MMO’s, and am currently playing Guild Wars 2, which I think is pretty balanced so far.  And as for the F2P model James, seems to be following in the steps of the first game.

          • I have to be honest, I’m tempted by GW2. With the first those guys seemed to really make a great job of the F2P model.

Also, agreed on the work that Yoshi-P has put in – it’s astounding what he’s done with XIV where in most situations it would’ve just been cast into the E-Nether. Whether or not they stick with the sub model or move to F2P, I feel that after everything that game has gone through it deserves to be successful regardless :)

        • Luna Kazemaru

PSO2 says Hi and I can name a number of other F2P MMO’s that aren’t broken

          • PSO2 was designed from the ground up as such, though – XIV was not, and neither is A Realm Reborn. F2P MMOs are by their very nature different, and trying to shoehorn one into the other generally makes for a poor game. I haven’t tried PSO2, but it’s no coincidence that GW1 worked because it was built around the F2P concept and it didn’t try to nickel and dime you at every turn. Compare it to something like Star Trek Online, essentially the exact opposite, or Aion, or Warhammer Online. Those don’t really work as F2P games for the opposite reasons. That’s why XIV, IMO, is better off as a subscription MMO.

        • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

          I mean with f2p as an option,and not p2w

          • Ah! I’m quite cool with that idea – that way everyone would be catered for :)

  • Talbot

It’s pretty amazing. No sign of a certain game and suddenly for a lot of people, the rest of the list becomes worthless and uninteresting. Okay yes, it’s not a great list, but I’m looking forward to seeing Hitman and Bravely. I’m even stoked for more FFXIV even though I can’t see myself getting the time or opportunity to play it. I just want the chance for Yoshi-P to impress me once again.

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

The onlything interesting to me is Xiv,but then I remember Id have to pay monthly and then I dont care :

    • Malcolm Reynolds

You see, this is logical thought. So few are capable of expressing logical thought. Sad times.

Talbot, +1 internets for you sir.

      • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Or perhaps nothing on the list interest them?Simply because you dont agree does not mean it is illogical.

        • Malcolm Reynolds

Actually it is completely illogical to write off all of SE’s other projects past, present and future simply b/c ones knickers are in a twist over vs13 not releasing on everyone but SE’s timetable.

      • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Did you respond?I cant find it D:

        • Malcolm Reynolds

I did. Im guessing Im banned.
          Oh well.

          • You have not been banned.

For some reason Disqus moved a bunch of comments in the last few hours to pending. I had to approve like 12 comments. I think I got them all, sorry about that.

          • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Hey I found one of your replies :D

  • EspadaKiller

God damn where’s FFX HD? If Versus aren’t gonna appear at least make FFX HD a appearance!

    • Advent_Andaryu

The lack of anything FFXHD is very surprising. I guess they announced it too early…

      • EspadaKiller

Yeah it’s S-E after all, they announced FFXIII and Versus too early as well.

  • It is unfortunate to see that Square Enix’s lineup of games in TGS is not interesting or mind-boggling.

  • xMCXx

S’okay. I don’t need Versus. Do you need Versus? I…..I don’t need it. (I need it immensely.)

  • Rydak

Am I the only one who wishes they could put a redesigned version of Lord of Vermillion without cards on the Vita?  XD

    • Advent_Andaryu

You are not alone. I have wanted to play the Lord of Vermillion games for ages, would be great to get some kinda port eventually. It seems like a series that would appeal greatly to the Western audience, though all the cameos would definitely take a lot of copyright work over here.

  • Kurai Warrior

    • Please don’t try and provoke anything. We’re really trying to prevent comment wars in favor of friendly debate.

      • Kurai Warrior

Then I don’t know why you don’t do anything about Malcolm Reynolds, he instigates most of it.

      • Malcolm Reynolds

Actually Sal, the first half of K-Dubbs comment: “I am disappointed by this lineup” is fair. It could use just the slightest amount of elaboration but it is fair.

In this case it would be followed by: “b/c they dont have any news on VS13 all of this lineup is garbage. I’ll only buy their games used or hell, I may pirate them. I’ll teach Square to mess with me!”

So while K-Dubbs is crying that I am “instagating”…..the truth of the matter is that all these whiners who constantly bombard every article about Square with their hatred BASED on the fact that VS13 has not come out yet has become the most annoying form of trolling on any website.

I understand being upset about the lack of concrete info on Versus, I dont understand the incessant whining every possible chance these kids get, even when others try to discuss the merits of other square titles like Lightning Returns for instance.

So if my reactions after the fact fits the definition of instagation I have certainly learned something new this day.

I dont expect anyone to like Square Enix. I am just completely tired of seeing the comments on Gematsu add up to little more than pissing and moaning about them. Surely you must be growing weary of the Square bashing threads as well no?

      • Kurai Warrior

I am really really confused as to how Malcolm Reynolds isn’t getting any moderator attention. He’s rude to anyone he doesn’t agree with.

        • Malcolm Reynolds

Wrong again. I’ve been rude to you b/c your behaviour is outrageous.
Again….STOP turning every Square related article into your own pity party moan fest and you and I wont ever have an issue.

You also cant call for moderator attention on someone when your existence here has been a constant violation of the commenting guidelines.

Will someone please point out to this user how incessantly whining from article to article about the same fecking game not being released is a direct violation of the guidelines?

          • Kurai Warrior

You know what I’m done, if you won’t ignore us, I’ll just ignore you, and I advise everybody who’s been singled out by you to do the same. I’m still gonna post whatever I’m feeling on whatever article I want to. If you want to continue to bitch at me go ahead. But I won’t pay you any attention. Looking forward to having no more conversations with you. See you on the next SE article.

  • For the record, I did make a kinder post below.

We basically have “post wars” going on in here. This is what it says in the guidelines –

If you have a differing opinion, discuss it kindly.

When you start making it personal, attacking each other, turning a simple disagreement into something more. In my opinion, that is taking it way to far.

Look at the comments in this thread. I bet you can tell me which ones follow the guidelines, and which ones don’t.

    # 6 on the guidelines basically explains why we made them. – Enjoy commenting: that’s our main goal here. We’re trying to create an environment where our readers can share their opinions openly and in a mature fashion. We hope you can be a part of it.

This is why I constantly refer to the guidelines. They were created to make commenting more enjoyable for everyone.

#1 – Know what you’re writing: don’t comment if you’re going to flame, troll, or “fanboy.” Everyone has their preferences, and we understand that, but they are no excuse to repeatedly rant about a publisher or hardware company you’re not a fan of, or any game or genre for that matter. It doesn’t add anything to the discussion. Don’t like a certain game? Either share a civil explanation as to why, or move on to the next article.

This is the first guideline listed for a reason. When we (Moderation team & Sal) decided to brainstorm and create a fair set of guidelines, we talked a bunch about the contents included in the first guideline.

We really didn’t enjoy seeing these types of comments over and over again, we also firmly believe that the majority of the community on Gematsu does not enjoy seeing them either.

If someone is not following the guidelines, responding to them with a post that also ignores the guidelines is not helping. It’s not really accomplishing anything, in fact, I’d say its just steering the conversation down to that immature level.

I’m going to be working with Sal and the Moderation team again to create a news post on Gematsu addressing comments. We all feel that its necessary to do so. With that in mind, I’m going to end this comment.

Last chance to stop – Final Warning.

I didnt do anything bad did I?

      • Nah. Just the people having post wars.

As for removed comments. If its removed its because we are trying to prevent these types of comment wars from occurring.

I don’t personally like to edit out comments. We just don’t want to see people going back and forth attacking each other in the comments. It doesn’t add anything to the discussion when people are just responding to 1 UP each other with petty insults. (Kinda childish to be honest.)
