Capcom has ‘no plans’ for E.X. Troopers localization

"No news to share on that front," says Svensson.

Capcom has said it has no plans to localize Lost Planet offshoot E.X. Troopers.

Responding to my question regarding the game’s localization on the publisher’s “Ask Capcom” forum, senior VP Christian Svensson said: “Guys, I have no news to share on that front right now. Sorry.”

In a separate topic, he responded: “… nor are there plans to bring it [E.X. Troopers] Westward at this time.”

E.X. Troopers is due for PlayStation 3 and 3DS in Japan on November 22.

    Good ol Capcom.

  • You cruel bastards.

  • That ruined my day!!

  • Kazziyan

Hinano has no plans at this time to buy a Capcom game.

    • PrinceHeir

lol let me join you :)

  • Storm

So this game is more profitable and more worthy of being green-lit than a Mega Man game that would’ve been released world-wide. I don’t get it.

  • Genesis

This is bad news for me. This was going to be my LP3

    • PrinceHeir

this is my definitely my LP3!!!

the so called Lost Planet “3” here doesn’t exist.

seriously capcom wtf were you thinking??

Ex Troopers is a mesh between Metal Gear Ac!d 2 and Megaman Legends series.

why would you not want that??

      • Genesis

I agree with you on that note. This game is beautiful and LP3 is looking pretty bad, in my opinion. *sigh*

    • z_merquise

I never played any Lost Planet games and this spin-off could be my first if ever this would be localized.

      • Genesis

The LP games are pretty cool. They’re fun but this one is up my ally. The cel-shading and art direction are enough to keep me grasped.

  • Anime10121

Good job Capcom, keep on adding more and more reasons for me to despise you nowadays.  They aren’t giving me many reasons to gain back my support, and its sad, because Capcom used to be one of my favorite devs, but lately, since a little before the start of this gen, they’ve been just making stupid decision after stupid decision:(

  • FlameEmperor

Can’t say I’m surprised to see this from Capcom with the way they’ve been doing things lately e.e……

    But its still sad……..

  • Bobo Fango

Phoenix Wright gets a localization, while this and Monster Hunter gets the shaft. Typical Capcom.

    • whiteferrero

hey we had to fight for that localization! kinda bums me out that you’re referring to Ace Attorney like that. T_T Just keep fightin’ i guess?

      • Budgiecat

We got Tatsunoko vs Capcom. For Wii. I dont wanna hear any excuses

  • RmanX1000

    Capcom: “What? More work? LOOOOL”

    • xMCXx

“What more money? Don’t need it, apparently.”

      • Duc PC-QB

Capcom dont think this game will bring them money.

        • xMCXx

          I know.
It’s Capcom. They expect every game to sell millions. Anything less is not a success.

        • Budgiecat

why make it then. It costs money to make money

  • syaznifaiq

Guys, please dont blame Capcom literally  . . i had the feeling when you guys blame Capcom meaning that you point your finger at Capcom HQ in Japan which is the developer of EX Troopers ..

If u want to blame someone blame this guy above (Christian Svensson) and his USA branch. They are the one who make the decisions whether or not to localization this game not Japanese branch. As far as I’m concerned, his division only make localization when its appeal more to westerner market and for multiplaform .. 360.

Capcom in Japan has nothing to do with this. Kenji Oguro and his team doing their best effort make this game ..Never wonder why this game is exclusive for  PS3 and 3DS ?

    • Mootoid

      clover studio was their soul.

      • Rezar

Which mainly lives on through Platinum Games these days.

    • HarryHodd

Capcom as a whole has been disappointing this gen. No need to defend them.

      • syaznifaiq

Capcom USA is shitty and its nothing to do with the Capcom in Japan . You guys are such a hypo ,when they make good game such as Dragon Dogma and Resident Evil 6, everyone behind Capcom(Japan) ,but with a mere statement from a guy who work for Capcom USA. everybody loses their mind. .Bravo guys bravo

        • HarryHodd

          No Omninusha
          No Breath of fire
          No HD Monster Hunter
No monster hunter in the west in years
          No Dino Crisis
          No Viewtiful Joe

Dragons dogma is drab and has framerate problems.

Resident Evil 5 was worse than all previous Resident Evil games.

oh but at least we get Okami.

          • syaznifaiq

Ok .different people different opinion ..but  im still looking forward to Capcom next project .. keep up the good work Capcom

            • Budgiecat

              pom poms

              • syaznifaiq

                da hell ? .LOL

        • Budgiecat

We got Tatsunoko vs Capcom which was next to impossible in theory to localize. So we can’t say Capcom USA is all bad. They are puppets of the head branch. Dont try to act like they make the final decisions. If Capcom of Japan wants to globally release a game they will do it

          • syaznifaiq

You right Cat, … but can we just wait until this game is out ? maybe Capcom want to see the feed back from the players in Japan and then decided of not to localize this game .. come on, the same happen to Tales of Xillia right? this Sven guy need to learn more about PR , He should said something that please the fan ..

  • Nekmex

    >expecting anything from Capcom

  • KingOptimusOrigins111

Capcom has no plans to localize anything these days.

    (Prodigy-X Rises 1/12/13)

  • Mootoid

I actually prefer this version than the original. I don’t expect anything from capcom

  • Oh it’s Capcom. No surprises here.

  • Bec66

OH Crapcom you’re just giving people even more reasons to be pissed off at you, next you’re going to tell me that ace attorney 5’s localization is canceled >:/

  • syaznifaiq

lol .. whining until the end

    • Budgiecat

people want to play this game and are disappointed. Why can’t you help them? Tell Capcom to localize it. Do something for your fellow gamers

      • syaznifaiq

        *Facepalm* .

  • margherita mastropaolo

lost planet three looks shitty, guess i’m done with the series

  • Revorse

Well, guess that was a dream that died pretty quickly for me. Lol moving on, I guess.

  • HarryHodd

If it wasn’t for Okami, Capcom would be totally worthless to me right now.

  • syaznifaiq

I wonder what happen if Bandainamco announce that they will not Localization Tales of Xillia 2 .. ..  pretty sure that there will be a lot of comment like  Bandainamco worthless, only think about money and so on from the same person who first said that Bandainamco is awesome when they introduce ToX 2.  .  Talk about the ‘real’ support huh, Classy

    • Luna Kazemaru

If a company doesn’t localize anything you always get comments like ‘X company is worthless” ect or the generic hate company nothing new hear honestly.

      • z_merquise

        Screw you, X company!!

(days later, a new awesome game from X company was announced):

        Take my money, X company!!!

        • Luna Kazemaru

pretty much that right there when a few vocal people don’t get what they want they get mad and post out of hate to they get something they want like they are the only ones that matter. I’ve come to the understanding that most gamers are a complete joke to me and are becoming a part of the problem :/.

          • syaznifaiq

Yeah, honestly i’m very surprised with that attitude  .,how childish act from this so-called fan.  glad someone feel the same way as i am, thnks Luna

  • InternatlGamer3

CAPCOM only wants your $$, and btw It’s obvious that Anime style games wouldn’t sell well here in the west when so many gamers all want to play nothing but FPS games like gay ass COD. So many better FPS than COD.

Oh well Capcom i’ll import this cause localizing isn’t happening.

    • Luna Kazemaru

CoD is a simple and easy game to pick up which is why it sells so yeah. I love how people like to rip on the game just for being what it is. I don’t even care for CoD that much but the hate around it is funny.

      • Budgiecat

CoD is Michael Bay in game form. And also an example of milking it

  • It really doesn’t look like a title that will create much penetration past the hardcore Otaku fanbase, so if high sale projections are required, and Capcom USA doesn’t bite, I don’t blame them.

  • SirRussell

sooo mega man gets scrapped and this gets made and we still cant have it. wtf

  • I’m a little surprised they aren’t taking measures to localize this. I wonder if it’s because it’s basically an anime version of Lost Planet and they know people in NA would just prefer to have Lost Planet over some ANIMU substitute. Anime style games never seem to do well in the States it seems, lol.

Well, maybe they will announce something in the future. I already have my copy pre-ordered, but I’d love for my friends to be able to enjoy this great looking game as well. I look forward to it in November~!

  • Budgiecat

“The West doesn’t like Anime shooters so we won’t bother. We’ll give them Lost Planet 3….with burly manly shooters” – Capcom: trying to misunderstand Western gaming world one brain cell at a time

    •  Well, to be fair… It’s not that we don’t like them in the West. It’s just that the “burly manly shooters” sell a HELL of a lot better, so they are probably just viewing it from a financial standpoint. An anime style shooter is right up my alley, but I know  as sure as I’m sitting here… Even if they sold five different titles for the franchise, a SINGLE title in the Call of Duty franchise would outsell the whole franchise, lol.

It’s a sad state of affairs, really. A shame we’re missing out on potential gems like this being localized because it’s different. They will skip this, then give us yet another rehash CoD game.

  • HanPaul

     Capcom never disappoints

  • HeatPhoenix

    I’ll buy the PS3 version.
The 3DS has no online co-op, as an addendum, the PS3 one does.

    •  Yeah, there’s no excuse for them to skip out on the online play for 3DS, but they did anyway and I have NO idea why. That was a terrible move on their part. Then again… Deciding to release this for the 3DS and PS3 was a pretty terrible idea to begin with. PS3 and Vita would have made sense or a 3DS exclusive title, but 3DS and PS3…?

What the hell were they smoking?

      • HeatPhoenix

Well, simple thought process is what I think they had:

PS3 is currently popular in next-gen consoles, the Wii is dead and Xbox360 was never alive in Japan, Thus, PS3.
The Vita has sold about… uh… 5? So, that’s a no-go, but they want to make more money off of this thing so 3DS (be glad, it could have been an iOS game)!

        • Well, I understand that, but when the Wii was popular, you hardly ever saw games crossplatforming for PS2/Wii. That was just awkward. If anything, you would see a better version released later (see: No More Heroes, Tales of Graces, etc.) from Wii to PS3 or PS2 to Wii.

Sure, the Vita isn’t as popular as the 3DS, but I still say it would have made more sense to put it on there with PS3. The lack of popularity from the Vita certainly doesn’t stop them from releasing games for it, so why change that now? It just seems silly, really, especially with the Remote Play feature about to be patched into the Vita, allowing us to play these PS3 titles and the opportunity for transferring data from the PS3 version to Vita version.

So many possibilities there. Besides, they’re already getting Monster Hunter 4. You’d think Capcom would at least try to cushion that blow for Vita owners by giving them this. Oh well.

I’m just glad I’m getting the PS3 version. I still don’t agree with their choice of platforms though.

          • HeatPhoenix

G Generation Wars is PS2/Wii. And I’m pretty sure that’s not the only one. There were a lot of PSP/Wii games also.

            • I’m not denying that they exist. I’m merely pointing out that the platform choice is odd, that’s all. It would be like if back in the day, a game was to be put on Sega CD, but was also ported to SNES.

That would have been just a tad bit odd to me, just as it is now, lol. I’m fine with the company wanting to make a better version or whatever at a later point for a different console, but to simultaneously release it on polar opposite consoles is a rather unorthodox marketing plan.

Chances are, most of these guys that have a 3DS don’t even have a PS3 anyway because they’ve always preferred handhelds over home consoles and the guys who have a PS3 probably have a Vita instead of a 3DS. So yeah… I could understand if we lived in a world where Nintendo and Sony collaborated with each other on a regular basis, but they don’t >_>

Hence the awkwardness of this whole decision.

              • HeatPhoenix

Well, back in the day, multi-platform was something shitty publishers did (Hydlide).
And I don’t know, I have a PS3, but no Vita… you see, the Vita has no game.

                •  >Vita has no game

In your opinion, yes. However, you don’t make up the entire demographic of PS3 owners. There are plenty of people out there that DO own a Vita as well as a PS3. Those were the people I was referring to.

You not owning a Vita doesn’t make my statement any less true that Sony fanboys tend to stick with Sony products while Nintendo fanboys tend to stick with Nintendo products.

              • fallen

I wonder if I’m missing some element of your confusion here. It seems to me that they just wanted to hit both Sony and Nintendo audiences on platforms that are both established and successful. Their line of thinking might even have been what you just described in your third paragraph — that Nintendo people usually buy Nintendo, and Sony people buy Sony. No need, really, to double-dip into the same market, especially if there’s some financial risk involved in doing so.

But more importantly, if they’re looking to release on successful, established platforms (maximizing potential sales), that really only leaves the 3DS and the PS3. All other current-gen platforms right now are missing one of those two qualities. It’s unusual, yeah, but seems pretty logically sound.

                •  I wouldn’t be so confused if this was a more natural occurrence, lol. You make it seem as though this sort of thing happens all the time, when that’s not so. Yes, I understand the PS3 and 3DS are the dominant consoles on the market right now and while it may make sense to release something for both of those console, it DOESN’T make sense that it hasn’t been done several times before.

It’s not as if the PS3 and 3DS were just suddenly the best selling consoles overnight or something. They have been for a while in Japan. I’m just trying to figure out why Sony wants to cooperate with Nintendo THIS time rather than all the time, that’s all.

  • new_tradition

Awww, that sucks. Really wanted to play this for the PS3.

Don’t suppose a EU company would release this on PS3? That way I could still import and understand the game, lol…
