Weekly Famitsu sits down with Kingdom Hearts director.

The latest issue of Famitsu features an interview with Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura, where he discusses the next title entering the series. Whether or not it’s Kingdom Hearts III, he remained elusived, saying, “I’ll leave that up to you.”

He had little to say about the next title, except that it might be something unexpected akin to a “fast ball.”

Nomura also implied that he has something “lightweight” in the works, but refrained from saying more about the unannounced title.

Speaking in riddles again, no surprise.

I’m starting to think Square-Enix Japan has the man constantly followed by the Cyborg Ninja from Metal Gear Solid.

If he actually gives some details about a project, the Ninja will immediately appear and assassinate him on the spot.

Then, they will activate Nomura-Robot 01, and hope for the best.

And this is coming right after he said “I think it’s time for Kingdom Hearts to come back to consoles” Le sigh:(

Anyways I’m excited anyways because I love Kingdom Hearts (even some of the more lackluster titles like the 2 DS games) and will get it whatever it is.

Im thinking what he means when he says KH3 is “up to us” is quite literal and we’ll only get KH3 on consoles if 3D is a success in the west. I mean 3D sold 300,000 copies in Japan, which is respectable (no excellent because barring Monster Hunter, it is the most successful third party game to date), but not quite what they were expecting Im sure.

Dont get me wrong, I’m sure that KH3 WILL be made, its just depending on the success of 3D (and on if they can ever finish vs. XIII), it may end up on a handheld.

So a downloadable Kingdom Hearts game not unlike R&C Quest for Booty?

Awesome……just what the ORIGINAL PS2 fans always wanted. A series born exclusively on PS2 jumping to multiple handhelds for the better part of a decade (gba, DS, PSP, 3DS) its no surprise the best handheld KH was the PSP version.

“Well I’ll leave that up to you”. i.e. buy our downloadable game on PSN and we will see if its worth it to make a true sequel on a Sony Console again.

Sadly….the Sony fan base that originally printed money for SE with this series may have simply moved on after all these years.

Give me my dang hd ports of all those stupid handheld ones -_-

    • anime10121

@KingKelloggTheWaffleHaggler: If they’re so stupid, why do you want ports of them?

This is the mindset that most “fans” have that has me extremely confused. People complain that the series has not moved forward or that it stagnated after KH2, but when games come along like BBS or DDD that actually advance the plot, people ignore them and relegate them as “side games” because they’re not console releases (even though they, at least BBS as I havent played 3D yet, play FAR better than KH1 and 2 did).

I dont think people really remember that KH2 basically concluded the series and that without the “side games” there was no need for a KH3.

      • KingKelloggTheWaffleHaggler

@anime10121: They are stupid because I dont want to buy more consoles for them X(

And I played BBs,kh2 played better

        • anime10121

@KingKelloggTheWaffleHaggler: Really? I’ll give you the fact that the drive forms were better than shot locks, but there was really nothing to KH2 besides mash X and Δ to do reaction commands, sure it looked cool/flashy but the core gameplay was stale as I even liked KH1 battle system more.

FM boosted the difficulty to make the game a little better but even still there wasnt much strategy, the only bosses in the game that required strategy were the optional Organization bosses in that secret room in HB and Terra (which were really awesome). There was a LOT more to BBS’ battle system including chaining certain attacks to change forms and actually melding your own commands to make hundreds of new moves.

          • KingKelloggTheWaffleHaggler

@anime10121: I liked the core of kh2 more it was smooth(and I played it on hard) and had massive combos you could do,something bbs didnt have =\

Whatever it is, once it’s announced, I know I’ll be super excited for it.

  • Losing faith at Square Enix for not giving a good clarification on KIngdom Hearts III.

  • RoboShinKen

    Its probably not KH3 then.

Fuck all these trolls for directors.

Seriously, it seems like “Trolling your fans/ones who await news” is in the job description now.

I just want a straight answer.

  • XxBarretxX

Square probably isn’t giving clarification because they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing with their own games.
