Resistance: Burning Skies announced for Vita

Game set in new timeline

Sony announced first details for its Resistance Vita title during its Gamescom press conference today. Resistance: Burning Skies, as it’s called, will feature a “new timeline, new levels, and new environments,” built specifically for the title.

An on-stage demonstration set in the Ellis Island research facility — a place where humans are researching chimera technology in hopes to turn the tide of war — was shown at the briefing. Burning Skies follows a new protagonist named Tom Riley, who goes from typical New York City fireman humble hero to folk hero of the entire resistance. New weapons, such as the melee axe and Chimeran chain gun, will be introduced. Touchscreen features demonstrated included an easy-access axe button in the lower-right corner and touch-fire for easy shooting.

No date yet. The first bits of artwork and a few screenshots can be seen at the gallery. The gameplay demo can be seen below.
