Earlier today, Eurogamer posted a report backed by an anonymous source claiming a multiplayer co-op component is in development for Mass Effect 3.
Tonight, a CVG source has said that the multiplayer co-op feature will be built around “original missions made for online,” different from the missions in the single-player campaign.
There will “only be a handful” of missions, according to their source, developed with the intentions of being “played and played again.”
The source denied the Eurogamer report’s mention of a Horde-style mode.
“Mainstream penetration is a major goal for Mass Effect 3 and those high up feel online co-op is the answer they’re looking for,” our source said. “EA‘s keen to push the multiplayer side of the game to help spread word of mouth – so it’s not just going to rehash stuff from the campaign. It’s going all out.”
Stay tuned.
