Atelier Meruru’s Maid and Butler introduced

The latest issue of Dengeki introduces us to two new characters in Atelier Meruru: Alchemist of Arland 3 — Meruru’s maid and butler. These characters are important in the game as they’re involved directly in its catch phrase, “Princess x Maid x Butler = Kingdom.” Meruru’s the princess. Let’s meet the other two.

The maid, Keina Sweya, is voiced by Kaori Sato. She and Meruru have been friends since childhood. In the magazine, she’s quoted as saying something along the lines of her being happy when Meruru’s around. In battle, Keina uses a giant hammer.

The butler, Rufus Falken, is voiced by Takehito Koyasu. An attractive, young butler, Rufus is strict on Meruru and does not show sympathy. He takes care of both house and state matters.

A few new gameplay details have also been revealed.

Branching away from item strictly item synthesis, you’ll now be able to take on quests helping others solve their problems

Taking a lesson from Assassin’s Creed, the game has a world development feature. You’ll earn development points throughout the game which you can use to build shops, buildings, and other structures. The more you build, the higher Meruru’s building rank. The higher the rank, but bigger she can build. Continuously building will raise the popularity of the Arls Kingdom.

As Meruru is the princess mentioned in the game’s catch phrase, you’ll be able to erect statues of Meruru, herself!
