Nomura confirms new Kingdom Hearts for E3; Final Fantasy Versus XIII “progressing smoothly”
In the latest issue of Game Informer, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura was interviewed about his upcoming projects and E3 2010.
Speaking on Kingdom Hearts III, Nomura denies ever confirming the game’s existence in March’s Ultimania Interview.
“Kingdom Hearts III is not a confirmed title,” Nomrua told the magazine. “I actually phrased my answer for the Ultimania “two titles other than III” to avoid speculation that we were working on Kingdom Hearts III.”
Apparently, one of the projects is due for an E3 reveal.
“One of the two projects mentioned above came into existence because we wanted to do something for the North American fans, so we’ll be announcing it at E3.”
Don’t get your hopes up for a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 title, though.
“We have no plans at the moment [for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, or iPhone], but have been discussing opportunities with various parties, so once we’ve completed the two projects we’ll begin thinking about the next steps.”
That game specifically for “North American fans” might just be localization of Japan’s cell phone game Kingdom Hearts: Coded. According to the official website of Phil Synder, the voice of Jiminy Cricket, he’s working on a new project named Kingdom Hearts: Recoded. Sounds a lot like Coded to me.
Finally, regarding Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Nomura said that the game is “progressing smoothly”.
“Development is progressing smoothly, but starting with E3 and through winter, there are a number of titles I am involved in that will be announced. And of course, the company as a whole has money upcoming projects, so we’ll take it one step at a time. We do have plans to officially showcase the title at a certain point.”
Perhaps E3 is that “certain point”?
