DC Universe Online features PVP instances, civilian characters
A fan-powered question and answers session on the DC Universe Online Facebook page has revealed a few new details about the upcoming PS3/PC MMO – including the presence of player versus player instances and civilian characters such as Lois Lane and Amanda Walker.
It’s a short, five-question session. We’ve posted the full thing through the break.
Would we be able to have fights with heroes and villains in a war like scenario?
WY – Yes, there are instanced Player vs. Player alert missions that will allow you to have that exact opportunity.
Are there different ways to fly, at least!? Or is everyone going to be flying the exact same way… for example hover disc, jet packs, etc?
WY – Standard flight is based on the most common mode of flying like Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, etc. We do have plans for variations like wings, jet packs, and discs, but are still finalizing the list.
Would one be able to input a photo of their chest symbol to make their character that much more unique/iconic?
WY -That’s a cool idea, but unfortunately there’s no way we’d be able to get the asset approval system ironed out and implemented for launch… not that we don’t trust you to put a questionable photo on your chest. :) However, you will have a huge variety of cool symbols to choose from for that iconic look.
In one of the videos on the net it was demonstrated that you could put points in increasing strength and points to increase your invulnerability. If I make a speedster is there a “pool” or “slot” to increase my evasiveness?
WY – The system you’re referring to is our ‘trait’ system. That system has gone thru a lot of changes since then and will be a lot more closely tied to your powers than your movement mode.
Will players come across DC Civilian Characters? Like Lois Lane? Commissioner Gordon? Jimmy Olsen? Alfred Pennyworth? Amanda Waller?
WY – Yes, almost all of those characters are in the game! They’re all part of this virtual DC Universe and since your character will be as well, there is a good chance you’ll run into them.
