Activision and developer Treyarch have officially announced the name of the next Call of Duty this morning. Titled, Call of Duty: Black Ops, the name contradicts earlier reports of the game being titled Call of Duty: Vietnam.
“We can’t wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. “We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts.”
A blog post on the game’s official site has also been written, but doesn’t reveal much.
“We at Treyarch are excited to reveal our latest development,” Treyarch wrote in their first blog post, “Call of Duty: Black Ops! Be sure to head over to CallOfDuty.com/blackops as more details begin to unfold! Follow @JD_2020 and @Treyarch on Twitter for the latest news & discussions regarding Black Ops.”
The only information released on gameplay is that it “will introduce fans to the elite world of Black Ops.” The game still sounds like it’s taking place in Vietnam – which I’m just saying because I remember there being a game titled Vietnam: Black Ops. Should be interesting. It launches on November 9, 2010. The first trailer debuts on GameTrailers TV tonight.
