The shots show off the game’s anime prologue, which sees a boy living in the real world check on his digital monster pet Agumon. However, on the other side of the screen rests an entire Digital World filled with living Digimon creatures.

Also in the batch are screenshots of a ghostly Beginner City (the Digimon have disappeared and it’s your responsibility to bring them back), the real-time battle system, Digimon artwork, and first print run bonuses.

Wired has run a huge feature on Epic Games’ new Unreal Engine 4, debuting the first screenshots of the next-generation engine in action, which is running on PC using a single Nvidia Kepler GTX 680.

“UE4 represents nothing less than the foundation for the next decade of gaming,” said Wired. “It may make Microsoft and Sony rethink how much horsepower they’ll need for their new hardware. It will streamline game development, allowing studios to do in 12 months what can take two years or more today. And most important, it will make the videogames that have defined the past decade look like puppet shows.”

Sol Trigger, Imageepoch’s last grand RPG for PSP, will no longer make its scheduled August 30 Japanese release. The game has been pushed just over a month to October 4.

The reason for the delay, according to Imageepoch CEO Ryoei Mikage, is due to the amount of releases on August 30. Distributors suggested the game is better suited to a different release date, as it would then be easier for them to sell. Mikage didn’t set a September release as it is the month distributors complete their earnings.

But it isn’t all bad! Imageepoch announced a Sol Trigger demo for release this July on PlayStation Network.

Lionhead Studios may be working on a hybrid MMO / single-player title for the next Xbox, if we’re judging this LinkedIn job listing correctly.

While it doesn’t mention Lionhead by name, it mentions it is a “major renowned studio in the UK” with “one of the most enivable [reputations] in the games industry” that has “shipped multiple titles in the past decade that have consistently been critically acclaimed.” The studio is known “for it’s commitment to developing titles that are deep in the game play offered to players, and very rich in content.”

The listing includes positions for a database programmer, server programmer, animation programmer, and others, some of which are also listed on Lionhead’s official website.

According to the listing, the game will have a “complex progression system, multiple routes through the campaign, and an MMO like multiplayer experience that will affect the outcome of the player experience, and many other attributes surrounding their [the studio's] profile (such as the environment and the outcome of certain actions).”

The project is a “major brand new IP that is being targeted for the future generation of platforms and will be an RPG based game with a radical new take on how co-operative and multiplayer gameplay feeds into the experience, while blending online and single player into one complete experience.”

They call it a “really huge and ambitious online/offline adventure game.”

When reached for comment, Lionhead told Kotaku: “Lionhead is in the business of making great games. We regularly look to hire great individuals to help in this cause. We have no further details to share at this time.”

Thanks, Supererogatory.

Serious Sam 3: BFE and Serious Sam Double D XXL are coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade this fall, Croteam and Mommy’s Best Games have announced in partnership with Devolver Digital and Mastertronic.

Serious Sam 3 is the third iteration in the series, and promises to deliver “the fast-paced, brutal action Serious Sam fans love and take advantage of the deep online capabilities of Xbox LIVE Arcade’s online community.”

“Serious Sam fans have been asking for Serious Sam 3: BFE to come to Xbox LIVE Arcade and we’re very excited to launch on the platform this fall,” said Roman Ribaric, CEO of developer Croteam. “All the high-octane action and over-the-top violence will be intact so Xbox LIVE Arcade gamers will get the full Serious Sam 3: BFE experience!”

Serious Sam Double D XXL is a 2D side-scroller spinoff. On top of the content from the original PC release, it will include “all new features, missions, weapons and a wild campaign cooperative mode.”

“Our fans loved Serious Sam Double D when it launched on PC but some rightly felt that the shooting grew repetitive and the Gunstacker could use more depth,” said Nathan Fouts, founder and lead designer at developer Mommy’s Best Games. “We’ve taken all this to heart and are incorporating more gameplay variety and, of course, adding the biggest fan request—two-player co-op!”
