Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia announced for 3DS
A re-imagining of the 1992-released Fire Emblem Gaiden.Nintendo has announced Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia for 3DS. It will launch on May 19.
The game is inspired by Fire Emblem Gaiden, which released exclusively in Japan in 1992 and helped to define the series’ signature style.
Shadows of Valentia re-imagines Gaiden on a grander scale. It features dual protagonists, Alm and Celica, who join others locked in a tragic war dividing the continent of Valentia.
The game offers free-roaming, dungeons crawling with enemies, flexible character progression, and everything that made Fire Emblem Gaiden unique. It promises “classic Fire Emblem gameplay with a twist.”
Amiibo figures of Alm and Celica will launch day and date with the game.

In 1992, the second game in the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem Gaiden, launched exclusively in Japan. Now, for the first time, fans outside of Japan will get a taste of this classic game on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is inspired by the 1992 original, reimagined on a grander scale. Every aspect of the Fire Emblem Gaiden game’s presentation has been updated, along with the game being fully voiced. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia recreates classic Fire Emblem gameplay with a modern twist, mixing in exploration of dungeons crawling with enemies. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will launch on the Nintendo 3DS family of systems May 19. Characters from the game, Alm and Celica, will be available as amiibo figures in a two-pack, also on May 19.
