Rumor: Marvel vs. Capcom 4 to be announced at PlayStation Experience 2016
Featuring characters popularized by Marvel Studios, no X-Men.
Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is in development and will launch for consoles in 2017, multiple sources have reportedly told Polygon.
The site claims the Marvel and Capcom fighting game crossover will be announced at PlayStation Experience 2016 this weekend, where the Capcom Cup 2016 Street Fighter V tournament will be held.
Polygon reports that fans should expect characters from properties popularized by Marvel Studios films, such as The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, rather than properties like X-Men. That means characters like Ant-Man and Groot are in, while mutants like Wolverine and Magneto are out.
While Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is in development, Polygon reports there may also be good news for fans of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 coming as well.
When reached for comment, a Capcom representative told Polygon, “Capcom does not comment on rumors or speculation.”
