Monster Hunter Stories ‘Riria Explains #3: Otomon Abilities’ video

Capcom has released the third video in its series of Monster Hunter Stories “Riria Explains” trailers, this time introduicng Otomon (monster) abilities.

In addition to abilities in battle, Otomon have a nubmer of field abilities, including the ride action, honey detection, stealth movement, underground movement, magma movement, and flight. In battle, monsters can use active skills that grant effects, regular skills by consuming the Kizuna Gauge, perform double actions with the protagonist to increase the Kizuna Gauge, and there are even mini-game-esque special situations like a “strength contest” where players have to repeatedly press buttons to win. Players can also perform powerful and unique “Kizuna Techniques” with their monster when their Kizuna Gauge reaches its maximum amount.

Monster Hunter Stories is due out for 3DS in Japan this Saturday, October 8. If you missed it, the previous two Riria Explains detailed how to catch an Otomon and the battle system.
