■ A Free-to-Play Downloadable Game
Tsukomo is a novice goddess who aims to become an amazing goddess. In order to do that, she travels around the country with Amaterasu. In order to come of age as a goddess, she must go on a pilgrimage to meet and be acknowledged by her superiors, the so-called Seven Pillar Goddesses. Help Tsukomo make offerings around the nation to become a great goddess by rolling the dice and traveling the railways on the huge map featuring over 9,000 train stops from around the nation.
■ Spaces
Your journey with Tsukomo takes place on this board featuring the over 9,000 train stations that exist in Japan. Roll the dice and move as many spaces as the number you rolled. There are two types of spaces—station spaces and regular spaces. Various events take place corresponding to the symbols on the spaces.
Station Spaces
The green spaces represent all the train stations of Japan on the board. When you stop on a station space, an event will occur according to the symbol on it. If you stop on a station space without a symbol, a conversation with Tsukomo will start.
Symbols include:
- Superior Goddess – Undergo a trial administered by a superior goddess.
- Offering Box – Obtain offerings necessary to meet the superior goddesses.
- Wardrobe – Obtain goddess garb that upgrades Tsukomo’s various abilities.
- Ingredient – Acquire ingredients necessary for cooking.
- Specter – Exterminate the specters.
Regular Spaces
The yellow spaces are the tracks that connect between stations. If you stop on a regular space with a symbol on it, events leading to acquisition of offering items or mini games may occur.
Symbols include:
- Offering Coin – Obtain offering coins necessary for using supernatural abilities.
- Mini Game – One communication between the player and Tsukomo. Tsukomo’s abilities rise depending on the results.
If you land on a space without a symbol, you can enjoy a conversation with Tsukomo. She will ask the player a variety of questions, so be prepared to answer her. Also, she will talk to you about the words you teach her. Deepen your bond with her by teaching her things about yourself and words, this is connected to her growth as well.
■ Megami Speak Engine
The Megami Speak Engine is a newly developed artificial voice synthesis system developed by Capcom and Toshiba, using Toshiba’s voice synthesis engine ToSpeak G3as its base. The Megami Speak Engine is used in Megami Meguri by having the character make use of user-inputted words and converse in a near natural-sounding synthetic voice.
As you teach more words to Tsukumo and deepen your level of communication, it will influence her, and things such as her topic’s will change. The more you communicate, the more she will become “your very own” Tsukumo.
For example, Tsukumo will try changing her hair style based on what you tell her you like.
■ Costumes
During the game, you’ll obtain a number of costumes in a variety of ways. Costumes are called “Shini” (God Clothing) and can be used to strengthen Tsukumo’s goddess powers. When Tsukumo puts on a Shini, her appearance of course changes, but her tone of speech also changes to match the outfit. From this, you can enjoy special conversations.
Retro Nurse
When Tsukumo wears the “Nurse” outfit, you can enjoy nurse-like conversations. She may gently heal you, too.
Cat Dress
Shinis do not only consist of clothes, but of head pieces, too. For example, if Tsukumo wears a pair of cat ears, she’ll add “nyaa” to the end of her dialogue.
Tons of Costumes
Tsukumo, of course, has plenty of other costumes to change into.
■ Link Your IC Card
Megami Meguri is compatible with IC Cards, which you may use on a daily basis to ride the train and shop. Tsukumo is an artifact spirit that dwells within such an IC Card. Megami Meguri can read the history recorded in your IC Card using the NFC functionality of the 3DS, which can be used to obtain in-game items, or to trigger conversations about stations you’ve been to payments you’ve made. Your daily actions will make conversation with Tsukumo even more enjoyable.
Exclusive Costumes
By having gone to specific stations, you could also receive exclusive costumes for Tsukumo.
Conversations About Stations
Tsukumo will ask about the stations you’ve gone to. You can respond by telling her why you went to that station and such.
Conversations About Spending
From your payment history, Tsukumo will ask about the contents of your shopping. You can respond by telling her what you purchased and such.
■ Characters
Amaterasu Okami (voiced by Yuka Ozaki)
A “goddess to train goddesses” that the player and Tsukumo will meet at the beginning of the game. She’ll accompany the player and Tsukumo on their journey in a temporary form. She has wide knowledge and talents, possesses great supernatural power, and stands at the top of all other goddesses… Or rather, she should, but somewhere along the line ended up getting manipulated by the goddesses with stronger personalities and suffered many hardships. Since she’s very caring and has a friendly personality, she is greatly trusted by the other goddesses. She worries a bit because she looks somewhat young to hold such a high position.
