Sony Interactive Entertainment has sent out invites for a “PlayStation Meeting” on September 7 where it will “share details about the PlayStation business.”
The event will be held at the PlayStation Theater in New York City at 3:00 p.m. ET.
Sony’s PlayStation Meeting events are typically for hardware. The last PlayStation Meeting was in 2013 and saw the official unveiling of PlayStation 4.
Yesterday, both Gameblog and VICE Gaming reported that Sony would hold an event in New York on September 7 to unveil its upgraded PlayStation 4, code-named Neo. Sony has confirmed the existence of said system, but has not shared much information beyond that all PlayStation 4 games will work across both the current and upgraded models. Rumors point to a console with an upgraded CPU, GPU, and memory.
Further information about the event was not announced.
Thanks, Business Insider and @notaxation.
Update 9:25 p.m.: Sony has confirmed to Polygon that PlayStation Meeting 2016 will be live streamed. More information will be shared closer to the event.
