Following a preview in Weekly Famitsu this week, Kadokawa Games has re-launch the official website for God Wars: Beyond Time, its upcoming Japanese-style tactics RPG for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
The official website re-launch brings with it descriptions for three newly confirmed characters, one new monster, and an overview of the battle system. If you missed it, we previously detailed the game’s other characters here and here.
Get the new details below.
■ Characters
Kintarou (voiced by Tasuku Hatanaka)
A young man who lives in a village at the foot of Fuji. He’s such a muscleman that his name is known throughout the area. He is Kaguya’s childhood friend, ever since she was trapped in a bamboo barrier. He takes advantage of a riot in the village to rise up and fulfill his promise to her.
Kuma (voiced by Jun Fukuyama)
One of the eight million gods living in the country of Fuji since ancient times. He has the appearance of a bear. Although he cannot speak human language, he forms a strong bond with Kintarou and the two can understand each other.
Aome (voiced by Yumi Hara)
A natural-born miner who manages the copper mine of Oeyama. Since she was bullied from a young age because of her different appearance, she doesn’t trust people and has a habit of seeing the world differently. But after experiencing the warm embrace of Kaguya and Kintarou, she soon begins to open up her heart.
■ Monsters
Yamata no Orochi
One of the eight million gods. A huge creature that rules over Hiikawa. The attacks it unleashes from its eight heads are generally destructive and can lead your party to annihilation.
■ System
Quarter-View
Battles are seen from a quarter-view perspective. The orthodox battle system places enemies and allies on a miniature garden-style 3D map, where you’ll move and attack using the characters in your party while considering the map’s differences in elevation.
Turn-Based
Battles use a turn-based system where enemies and allies take action in order of speed, and a single turn ends after every character has completed an action.
Skills
Skills are special abilities that consume MP and can be used in battle. There are over 400 skills, ranging from attack-based to support-based skills.
Ougi
Ougis are powerful skills that can be triggered by consuming the Ougi gauge that builds up during battle. You won’t be able to use this early on in the game, but it will become available as you progress through the story.
Powerful Boss Battles
Many creatures exist in the country of Mizuho, where eight million gods reside. Giant bosses that possess great power will stand before the player to block their path, and they’ll have a variety of appearances and abilities.
God Wars is due out for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan in 2016 and will exhibit the Tokyo Game Show in September. A worldwide release is also planned.
