Former Media Molecule dev opens Lizardcube studio, teases Wonder Boy-related project

Former Media Molecule and Q-Games developer Omar Cornut, and traditional comic and animation artist Ben Fiquet have opened a new studio based in Paris called Lizardcube.

The new developer is currently at work on its first game, which it hasn’t announced officially, but says is “related to a certain popular old Japanese game license.” It also said there is a “sneak peak” of the project on its official website, which led us to the above artwork.

A Google reverse image search of that artwork reveals a TIGForums thread by Omar Cornut from October 2015 about a remake of Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Tap. It is unknown if today’s project is exactly as it was planned in October, but this is all we have to go on for now.
