Square Enix has released a new set of Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End information and screenshots, introducing the game’s three types of Monster Coins and advanced classes.
Get the information below.
■ Monster Coins
In Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below, defeating monsters drops Monster Coins, which can be used to summon monsters to fight alongside you or cast a one-time spell. In Dragon Quest Heroes II, Monster Coins are further evolved. There are “Support” type Monster Coins that summon monsters to fight alongside you, “Assist” type Monster Coins that summon monsters to perform a spell or special skill, and “Transformation” type Monster Coins that transform the player into a monster for a fixed amount of time. (A yellow gauge will indicate how much time you have left.)
“Transformation” Type
By transforming into a Killer Panther, you can run gallantly across the field.
Transforming into a Knight Aberrant will let you perform a powerful shield blow attack.
Becoming a Slime Knight will let you strike the enemy with high-speed sword techniques.
“Support” Type
Robbin’ ‘ood fights tough with his strong body.
Bodkin archers fire arrows from long range.
Skeletons keep persistent enemies at bay.
“Assist” Type
Dancing flames engulf surrounding enemies in a swirl of fire.
Candy cats make it difficult for enemies to target you for a little while.
Canniboxes kill off enemies with a spell.
■ Advanced Classes
As previously detailed, the male and female protagonists can change classes, whether it be to a Warrior, Fighter, or Mage, and so on, but there are also “advanced classes” that let you obtain even greater power and learn various skills.
In order to change to an advanced class, you must first gain experience in the basic classes. If you gain experience as a Warrior or Fighter, you’ll be able to change to the “Battle Master” class. Or if you gain experience as a Priest or Mage, you’ll be able to change to the “Sage” class. However, in order to change to an advanced class, you must first complete the quest handed out by the priest at the class change office.
■ More Heroes
Also showcased are Alena (voiced by Shoko Nakagawa), Kiryl (voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa), and Maya (voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro) from Dragon Quest IV, Terry (voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya) from Dragon Quest VI, and Jessica (voiced by Ayana Taketatsu) from Dragon Quest VIII. All five characters return to join the story of Dragon Quest Heroes II from their appearance in Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below.
Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End is due out for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on May 27.
