PSP version not releasing overseas.

Trails in the Sky the 3rd

Following a tease yesterday, XSEED Games has announced that it is localizing The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd for release on PC in 2017.

XSEED Games will share more information about the game “in the coming months.”

Additionally, both The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky and its sequel The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC are on sale today on the PlayStation Store and Steam for $9.99 and $20.99, respectively.

XSEED Games also announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II will launch for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in North America this fall.

According to XSEED, the Trails franchise has sold more than 350,000 units to date.

    PC-only? No thanks.

    • Yuntu

I heard they have some sorta licensing issue with the other version of it or something like that.

      • Delicious Fried Chocobo

no the reason because there is no psp version is cuz its dead and would take too much + money loss time they cant just easily release a psp game for vita in english.

        • Yuntu

          That is also true.

      • Linkmstr

Sadly, yes. XSEED once posted late last year that the Third Chapter would most likely be a PC-exclusive for the West and that the problems with bringing it over for PSP, Vita, and PS3 is licensing stuff.

Plus, it may be also to help them loosen the stress because of what happened with localizing Second Chapter. They did have a rather tough time where one of the members was suicidal.

        • PSI Wind

Why can they release a PC version just fine but not a PS3 or Vita version due to licensing? Is it because they’d be exclusively developing the PC version?

          • Linkmstr

I can’t say for certain. You’ll have to ask XSEED for more confirmation.

          • TheMortalOne

because it was originally a PC game. It later got remade as evolution version for other consoles, but XSEED can’t license them because of some reason

          • http://mobobe.com 13xforever

It was subcontracted to a 3rd party, just like the EVOLUTION versions for Vita. And PC versions of ao/zero/sen.

          • Mozendo

From what numerous peopel have said, PS3 version has no trophies which is a requirement in the NA and possibly EU.

    • Delicious Fried Chocobo

take it or leave it, your loss.

    • Ferrick

      Your loss

    • razisgosu

PSP is dead. Get it on PC or don’t. Whining won’t help.

      • raze2012

quite literally this time, too. pretty sure SC wouldn’t have been for PSP if they didn’t start so long ago (like back in 2012/early 2013?).

If whoever is screwing over Falcom can get its shit together, maybe there’ll be hope for the evo versions sometime down the line. the Vita probably has about 2-3 more years of life left in it (assuming that Nintendo’s successor comes out by late 2018, based on previous trends).

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

      sucks for you

    • Satoshi Ookami

Kiseki games are one of VERY few J-games that work well on PC. =)
I mean, it IS originally a PC series.

      • SA-X

All Japanese games work well on PC.

        • Pereb

As long as the port isn’t atrocious *coughtecmokoeicough*

  • Daniel Guerrero

What the f*** why pc only what the hell is XSEED thinking how am I to experience the hole trilogy without even play the 3rd on the wonderful and awesome Vita.

    • Rovan

Because the PSP is a dead platform.

      • Daniel Guerrero

Dead heck no cause i own a Vita then u buy games for the Vita dont know or have heard of anyone owning a Vita saying its dead.

        • Satoshi Ookami

Isn’t everyone saying Vita is dead?
I would specify it as Vita owners that are into J-games :D

          • Phelan

Actualy 2016 is the first year when there are so many games coming to Vita… that it’s weird that SONY didn’t try to turn the tables.

If anyone would ask me whether Vita was worth buying 2 years ago I would say heck no… But now? I have way more fun with Vita than I have with PS4.

        • chocodino

          he said psp, not vita

    • Linkmstr

Licensing issue. Plus probably to lighten the load after several things that happened with localizing Second Chapter.

    • Phelan

It does seems like bad joke.

But maybe they will think about it again… I mean the Evolution version is in development, right? Maybe they will release it later on, the upgraded version.

      • Ferrick

evolution versions won’t come stateside due to licensing issues with chara-ani, so either you take this version or leave it

        • Phelan

          And you know it from….?

          • Ferrick

            XSEED

            • Phelan

              Oh ok… source.

              • Meckagon

I won’t be providing source, but I’ve also read on their forums, I think, that they said it’s because of licensing issues. They’d have to ask 2 companies (Chara-Ani and Kadokawa Games) about the Evo version, because Evo versions aren’t done by Falcom. So, I imagine Xseed would have to pay a hefty amount of sum to those other companies to have their approval of localizing it for the west.

                • Phelan

It definitly wasn’t worth the hassle when they were working on PSP version. I could see why they wouldn’t bother with licensing issues.

But now? it is entirely different story.

        • Articuno76

It gives me migraines that Nihon Falcom negotiated a deal where they gave up control over their own game. Like… why would you do that?

          • Ferrick

no idea, i mean the voicework on the EVO versions were great, but it doesn’t seem worth it if the licensing becomes a huge hassle for everyone

            • Articuno76

Yeah. I wonder if it would be possible to bring those versions over minus the voice work? Or something like that? *shrugs* I’m not going to pretend to know what kind of deals are going on surrounding these games.

              • Ferrick

well, the regular Zero and Ao has lesser voice than Evolution so there’s higher chance in that

              • Satoshi Ookami

But the voice work is pretty much the only thing separating EVO from regular versions.
Maybe just trophies if you care about that.
Other than that, it’s literally voiced original =D

                • Articuno76

The quality of the visuals overall are better and there’s some quality-of-life enhancements to the gameplay IIRC.

                  • Satoshi Ookami

Dunno if I would call all of them quality enhancements, though =D Some examples.

They added Burn, which is pretty much Tiara-curable Poison, but it’s SO FREAKING common. Literally any skill that can burn you, WILL burn you.
Overall, I would say the frequency of ailments raised way too much.

They changed AOE healing skills into Wind ones. So, Kloe needs Wind quartz to be an useful healer.

Some quartz are of different attribute so previous combos are unusable. Back to Kloe, since Mind is no longer a Water quartz, you can’t make her OP magic even more OP without sacrificing one slot.

                    • Articuno76

I mean things like being able to skip spell animations, for example. It’s so hard to go back to having to sit through them.

                    • Satoshi Ookami

                      Oh you meant this.
Yea, that is pretty good. Especially for the second playthrough.

              • Random Stalker

Falcom didn’t do the EVO remakes personally, Kadokawa Games and Chara-Ani developed them.

    • http://mobobe.com 13xforever

3rd was always a bridge between sora and ao. The duology is a complete story in itself, it’s more of a bonus than an integral part of the arc.

  • Ping

    Awesome!

  • Delicious Fried Chocobo

now the west has the complete trilogy and sen 1+2.
hope zero and ao for pc will follow this series is amazing even tho i have a bone to pick with the sen games

  • Phelan

Suprised that they didn’t forget about EU (both games also discounted here)

Release price was way too high for PSP game. If it was somewhat upgraded like steam version… than sure… but we got 1:1 PSP version. And they probably lost a lot from way too high price.

So yeah… I will be buying it right now.

But no PSP (vita) version of PSP game… sounds ridiculous. I hope they will change their mind.

EDIT: maybe they will bring evolution instead?

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

they won’t be bringing evolution games.

      • Phelan

They never mentioned 3rd part did they?

        • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

they didn’t have to mention the 3rd part..they already said it’s too much of a hassle to bring them over.

        • Satoshi Ookami

It would be weird if they brought TC EVO without FC and SC.
In any case, what others said, way too many licensing problems around that.

  • UMR-10

    PC wins again!

  • The Silent Hours

Bit weird that it’s a PC exclusive when the previous installments have sold terribly on Steam.

    • PorchettaMan

      First Chapter definitely hasn’t.

      • zodd

Second chapter hasn’t gone on a sale either, it should sell well once it does.

        • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

          it’s on sale right now..

      • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Second will as long time sale. Its what Xseed look at.

    • Articuno76

All things considered (niche game, extremely late re-release, no brand name recognition etc) did it really do that poorly? If it’s the Steam version that’s coming and not the PSP one I’d say the Steam version (and it was on GOG as well) did fine.

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Its a combination of still earning profits even on minimal and their love for Falcom and kiseki series because Xseed fan staff at least some of them are fans of their games.

    • Satoshi Ookami

Well, better than not having it at all =D

    • Aluja

lmao, they’re only doing these games because it’s selling on steam.

But yeah that false information spreading, stay ignorant.

    • SA-X

It actually sold much better on Steam than it ever did on PSP/Vita; the dropoff in sales between games is simply because it’s a direct sequel to a 40 hour RPG, so obviously only people who finished the first game are gonna buy the second.

    • awvnx

XSEED already said they were disappointed in the sales of FC on PSP, and would never have done the sequel if it weren’t for it being ported to PC and doing decently there. Falcom was hesitant about investing all the work in programming for localizing SC. If it sold poorly on PC, then it sold worse on PSP.

  • James

    PSVITA(PSP) + PC = TAKE MY MONEY!!!

  • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!

  • LoliKing

meh, still don’t have the motivation to beat the first one

    • Aluja

You’re missing out, all you have to see is the end of that game and you’re a fan.

    • Kora Savage 💎@#404

      Loli!!!!!

  • http://Gematsu.com Vayne

PC=japanese games home today in the west.

    • Delicious Fried Chocobo

the sora trilogy also released on pc first so it didn’t matter after that it got psp port > ps3 port and now all three games have vita remakes with the third coming out soon.

    • Satoshi Ookami

      Are… you serious? =D

  • JuVu

I do understand the problems with releasing this game for PSP, but it’s still a bummer after having the first two on it. Shame if it came down just because of licensing issues.

  • PringlesXD

It’s a shame I won’t get to play it on PSP, but I’m so glad they’re bringing this over! Hopefully this means Zero and Ao are up for consideration.

  • Gloriam

    Thanks XSEED!

  • Mirthful Escrimeur

I’m a bit bummed that I won’t be able to play it on my Vita (there were stretches of my playthrough where I’d play SC for eight hours straight, and that’s much more bearable on a handheld system) but thankfully a toaster can run this game.

    • Satoshi Ookami

I was playing in around 10 hours blocks on PC, it’s fairly doable :D

  • Hatsuaki

This is amazing news, I’m so happy we’re getting the entire Sora and Sen arcs in the west… Hopefully they manage to shorten the localization gap when Cold Steel III releases in JP. The 3rd is an amazing game and I’m really glad they’re working on it, Zero/Ao is still my favorite arc but it’s awesome the series has reached this far in the west!

  • DanSmith

They need bring to west all the Evolution games for Vita.

    • PringlesXD

Not happening. It’s licensing nightmare between Kadokawa and Chara-Ani.

  • zodd

Wherever or not the Zero/Aoi Kiseki games comes to the West, just glad that this trilogy was completed.

    • Restire

I’m glad too, but missing out on Zero/Ao (arguably the best games in the series) would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

  • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

    YES YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

  • Satoshi Ookami

    YOSHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • Chestnut Bowl

    Excellent!

  • KazeJoestar

Well thats all fine and dandy but I would have preferred it on PSP/Vita but I’ll take what I can get.

  • DanSmith

I dont care these old pc/psp versions. I want the evolution version…. but I know its impossible.

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

they are pretty much the exact same gameplay wise…only it has voice acting and worse remade soundtrack.

      • Satoshi Ookami

Yea, pretty much. They tweaked quartz, arts and ailments a bit. And added more turn bonuses.

      • Tjoeb123

        Um…upgraded visuals? Platinum trophies?

      • Saibanchou

        > worse remade soundtrack

…which is purely subjective. Personally I’m a big fan of live instruments (especially Falcom JDK’s) and higher quality synths, so the remake was a welcome change. One of the very first tracks, Setting Off, features a sweet violin for instance.

I do admit though that some tracks – like every arrangement work – turned out for the worse (example: Looking up at the Sky).

      • Ni ~Algidus~

        and worse art

    • Satoshi Ookami

I do wonder. Do people realize what EVO versions are?
I mean, they are still the beautiful PSP games we all remember. There are no graphical tweaks, just added voice acting.

Or do people want them because they are on Vita? =)

      • DanSmith

It’s a simple matter of choice. I like voice acting, theses news battle elements, better visuals… Anyway I will buy this because they are not giving other choice. I played the other two on the PC as well. I would buy the Evo series no matter what console.

        • Satoshi Ookami

          >I like voice acting
          I like this statement =D

          Then, definitely buy them =D

      • commodorewheeler

I did definitely notice a difference in graphics when I played demos of the two versions. At least on Ao no Kiseki.

  • Fooey

Wait what? I would’ve taken a digital only release on the PS store at least….

  • Elle

Welp I definitely won’t be buying FC and SC on PSN when I get a PSTV soon now. 😩 still slayed by the cold steel news. I need that game asap.

    • Tjoeb123

What are you talking about? ToCS2 is still coming out……

…..and there’s nothing stopping you from buying Sky…..

      • Elle

        What am I talking about?

    • Ladius

Keep in mind The 3rd isn’t the end of a trilogy, FC and SC wrap up the first Trails storyline and the third game is more of a side-story that builds on the setting and characters’ characterization while expanding the lore in order to prepare the stage for the next games.

You can safely play FC, SC and both Cold Steel games even if you don’t plan to buy The 3rd, even if the game is so old basically any PC will be able to run it.

      • Elle

I don’t buy PC games tho so I’ll pass

        • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Ewww for a serie like this and to give Cold Steel the importance it needs you should be willing to do so.

          • Elle

I’ll be giving cold steel the importance it needs by buying both versions of cold steel ii like I did for the first one. 👍

        • Brat Sampson

But the whole point was that whether or not you want to get TC on PC, FC/SC are both easily playable on their own on Playstation. What TC does shouldn’t factor into it because it’s not a required part of the FC/SC story.

        • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

but trails in the sky is so much better :L

          • Elle

You haven’t even beaten (or played? ) cold steel.

            • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

i’m in chapter 5 in cold steel

            • Anime10121

As much as I loved Cold Steel… I can vouch for what Kaisen said… (now whether CS2 does anything to change that opinion or not remains to be seen), but as it stands currently, I enjoyed both TitS1 and 2 more than Cold Steel (still a FANTASTIC game though)!

I’d recommend Trails in the Sky PSP versions though even if you dont ever plan on playing third, since those two games pretty much complete the story they were intent on telling!

        • Satoshi Ookami

You should buy this one, though.
Even if they brought the PSP version, since there is one scene cut off, you wouldn’t get the complete experience.

        • awvnx

If you’re unwilling to play available games in the series due to platform, then I’d say you don’t care about the series all that much. If your PC can post on this forum, it can play this game.

          • Anime10121

Thats….not entirely accurate… My last PC could post fine here, and came with Windows 7… and it could not run TitS 2 >_>

It was a budget as hell PC that could barely run the OS it came with, but still >.>

            • Elle

People get a gaming PC and act like they are an all knowing expert. Nothing new.

              • CoolingGibbon

Actually those who game on PC are by far and large much more knowledgeable than thumbstick-twiddling children. Don’t take my word for it though; do your own research.

                • Elle

                  Exhibit A.

                  • CoolingGibbon

                    Careful, your insecurity is showing.

                    • Elle

Oh? You have been doing a fine job of that yourself but OK.

                    • CoolingGibbon

If I were “insecure” I wouldn’t have asked you to do your own research on the matter. Why you haven’t done so yet is anyone’s guess.

                    • Elle

Keep telling yourself that otherwise you wouldn’t have replied in the first place. You aren’t worth the effort BTW.

                    • CoolingGibbon

I have no problems with replying since replies have zero to do with insecurity, though I’d love to have you try and prove me wrong (and fail). Furthermore, considering that you’re the one claiming now it’s not worth the effort, maybe you shouldn’t started this by making sweeping generalizations about PC gamers pretending to be know-it-alls or whatever? Well of course, you have the right to your opinion, sure… and I have the right to criticize it if you don’t have the spine to defend it. Either way, feel free to not respond if you so wish; it’ll eventually be forgotten unless you decide to say something silly again.

                    • Elle

tbh I keep responding to see how long your posts can get .

                    • CoolingGibbon

Take a look at my post history on Disqus and see for yourself. And btw, the mod asked me to drop the subject so I suppose I will; until of course you decide to not keep it that way. I’ll see you around (perhaps?).

                    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Just drop it and move on.

People have preferences. It’s illogical to assume someone doesn’t care for a series just because they aren’t jumping at every single game in a series on every single platform.

        • Ladius

Point is, if you want you can enjoy FC, SC and CS12 on your PSP and Vita while ignoring The 3rd. There’s no need to also skip FC and SC.

    • Aluja

Even if they did release it on PSN, Sony is closing down the PSP front.

So don’t be a peasant lol.

      • Elle

I like you so I won’t clap back like I’m tempted to.

        • Aluja

          lmao

      • Cyberjin

but that doesn’t mean you can’t buy it

        • Aluja

Wait, can you buy it if the PSP side is gone on PSN?

          • Cyberjin

sure you buy games via the webstore or the Vita store

          • Satoshi Ookami

PC store -> download -> put to PSP
            Or from Vita store directly

You just can’t buy them from network-enabled PSPs.

            • Aluja

              Oh.

          • Mk333

The whole psp library is still on psn, it can’t be taken down since a whole lot of them are compatible with vita. Sony is just being cheap by taking down the app store on psp itself. If you want to buy games now you need either ps3, vita, smartphone or pc.

Luckily you can still download the games on your psp by accessing the purchase list. It seems this feature is permanent.

  • DesmaX

Going by those numbers, Cold Steel seems to have sold pretty nicely.

Guess Falcom’s approach to get bigger audience worked even in the west.

Oh well, I’ll be there day 1 for 3rd. Heard it was the best one (Even though it is a dungeon crawler)

    • Satoshi Ookami

I heard people considering SC to be better than TC…
      Dunno =D

      • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

And there are people who consider TC the best trails made. Opinions people.

        • Satoshi Ookami

          Yea, for sure =D
I actually wonder if people like TC because of Kevin or as a whole…

They should like it because of Renne, though xD

          • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Kevin and Ries the nun have such a great chemistry that can outmatch Joshua/Estelle at times. That and his personal story is touching enough, Falcom now where to hit you in the feels.

    • Restire

Based on what my Korean friend has told me, Ao is arguably the best in the series. His fav game is 3rd, but he says Ao throws it under the water with how amazing it is. So all opinionated really.

      • Random Stalker

Pretty much: Sky = Zero/Ao >>>> Cold Steel

  • Ladius

Gorgeous news, especially considering how SC’s lackluster sales made lots of people (me included) think The 3rd’s localization was unlikely at best. It’s great to know XSEED is so committed to the Trails franchise, I will support their effort and I hope they’re successful enough to translate Cold Steel 3 and to look into the PC ports of Zero and Ao.

  • Ein on Shrooms

Sad…..I’m currently enjoying SC on the vita, but am not a PC gamer.

Does TC do the carry save data thing too? Only got psp save files >.<

    • Satoshi Ookami

I’m pretty sure it does not.
The party is different. And if you started with level 90/99 Kevin, the game wouldn’t really be fun =D

      • Articuno76

IIRC you do start at a ridiculously high level like that, don’t you? The characters in The 3rd are practically gods compared to their FC/SC counterparts. Though I get what you are saying.

        • Satoshi Ookami

Yea, pretty much =D They even raised cap to 200 =D

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Yes it does but they are minor things as bracer points, septim an one accesory.

      • Mike

No dialogue changes like SC if you had carry over?
Ahh well I should just be grateful we are getting it at all!

        • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

No there is no dialogue changes at all.

  • Hours Left

I’m so freaking happy about this news.

  • Cyberjin

sad for people that has a save file on “PSP”

    • Ein on Shrooms

      me…

      • Cyberjin

but hey at least they are bringing the game over,
even though it’s PC only (You can probably cheat to make up for it)

        • Satoshi Ookami

At least everyone has the same experience without any cuts.

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

      forgot about that…dammit.. :(

    • raze2012

…fuck. Is there any chance someone can make a save conversion (offically or not)? I’d even be willing to try my own hand at one if it doesn’t get into too grey a territory.

      • Restire

You can just get an SC save file on PC. Go offline on Steam, throw the save file into the game’s directory, load it up, get the start bonuses, save, go back online, and bam, you are now ready to play the 3rd. This is what I did for SC because I finished FC on my Vita.

    • Restire

See, but this is the beauty of PC. You can just get someone else’s save file and use it as your own.

      • Cyberjin

So can you on everything else lol
however it does lock trophies, but that’s understandable

  • AlphaSixNine

Oh Praise be to Aidios! o/

  • Dnetwork7

Well my getting pc then, Master race here i come!!!!!

    • Dnetwork7

Can give me some tips, because i know nothing about pc gaming.

      • Manny Being Manny

If you have a PC that can browse the internet, you can play this game. The original Trails in the Sky games released in 2004 for PC and were already low spec games at that point.

      • Mk333

Get a windows 8 tablet, you can even play it on the road.

      • chocodino

        1-create account
        2-add funds
        3-purchase game
        4-install game
        5-play game

    • Sunny11

Lol you can play this type of game on a laptop nothing fancy

    • CoolingGibbon

Welcome brother, may your ascension be glorious and your framerates above 60!

  • Manny Being Manny

Tom said last year that Second Chapter was their final PSP game, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that the 3rd is PC only. PSP is dead, the store is officially down and theres just no reason to release games for it anymore.

    • Mk333

Store is not down, only the app that accessing that store is down. The whole psp library is still there and purchasable on psn store.

  • OlimacFTW

LOL. So much for the hype.

  • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

To those who said “never ever” and were making fun of SC sales

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

      Also no censorship!!

      • raze2012

what would there be a need to censor to begin with? Trails isn’t exactly known for its…. graphics.

        • ボク

According to this review, some content was censored for the console releases and one scene in particular was quite erotic?? https://gareblogs.wordpress.com/2015/10/09/review-eiyuu-densetsu-sora-no-kiseki-the-3rd/

          • awvnx

it wasn’t erotic at all, just the implications of it…

            • Satoshi Ookami

Still something you wouldn’t really expect from this kind of JRPG =D
And something that actually made me love the character even more :)

        • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

A particular disturbing dialogue accompanied by a picture….

  • UNIverse

Guess I’ll be skipping this, shame.

  • Anime10121

God I love you XSEED <3

  • http://dysisa.tumblr.com/ Dysisa

I can’t believe anyone expected Falcom to still support a dead platform that people weren’t even buying these games on. See this as flamebaiting if you will, but the truth of the matter is that the much better sales on PC is the entire reason this is happening.

Whatever, only babies cry about a game not being on their platform of choice. I’m super stoked that this is happening at all, and you should be too. Rock on, XSEED.

    • Omar

A lot of people (including me) played FC and SC on Vita so that’s why they wanted the PSP version. I guess I’m not too fussed but the computers in my house are often contested while my game systems are always free. Plus, I like playing games in bed.

      • http://dysisa.tumblr.com/ Dysisa

And I totally get that. But there’s a difference between wanting and expecting something. I want a lot of unreasonable things to happen, but I don’t expect them to.

      • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

Im skint right now xD got many other games I have to buy, prioritising

        • Mozendo

I mean buy yourself the game and don’t resort to piracy for me
          promise me you won’t go that low ;_;

          • Sunny11

Unless I see this game for super cheap on a sale I’ll buy it…maybe

            • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

it’s fine if you have other games you want to prioritize but don’t pirate the game :l

              • Sunny11

This game will sell well regardless :p
If they were happy with those amount of sales for the older ones this will be better

    • Mike

      C’mon. It’s a niche series.

    • Mk333

Noooo, don’t do that to XSEED…

do that to EA instead 8)

      • Sunny11

EA games mostly online though :/ so cant

    • Arcade Fanatic

      Don’t forget to seed.

      • Sunny11

        For sure

  • awvnx

Seeing people say they’ll skip the game since it’s not on PSP makes me wonder how interested they really are in the series. The game is going to run fine on any PC, so that shouldn’t be an obstacle. I’d encourage those that say they’ll never play a game on their PC to have an open mind and try it.

    • Satoshi Ookami

      >how interested they really are in the series.
Well, definitely not enough if they did not research the fact that PSP is an incomplete one =D

I love Vita, I am primary a handheld gamer and I would still play this on PC even if it came out on PSP.
(The fact that I will be replaying it on Vita is unrelated =D)

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

played them both on psp and i’m still getting this. it sucks that people are giving it up so easily

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

This. This game can run in any computer, any toaster.

      • Articuno76

I played this on an ancient office machine (complete with a floppy disk drive). It had like 1GB of RAM and I was using the onboard graphics of a processor from 2006 (if not earlier) :P

The machine was the slowest thing I’ve ever owned. Would take 15 minutes to boot into Windows XP/get responsive… Still ran the game flawlessly.

    • Manny Being Manny

I’ll never understand that mindset. Some people just seem scared of playing on PC for some reason, even though you can easily turn it into a console experience with a controller

      • Mk333

For me my obstacle is my family, since we have one great pc that do all purpose. So i cant use it for playing games anytime i want. That’s why i got consoles, since no one wathcing TV in my home.

        • Taiga571

          Um… How about personal laptop?
It’s portable and, most importantly, for your eyes only.

          • Mk333

You can’t play it in sleeping position.

            • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

with a laptop? yeah you can…just connect a controller to it and you’re good to go.

              • Mk333

I’m talking more about a permanent set-up though. Laptop isn’t permanent.

                • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

                  connect pc to your tv?

                  • Mk333

Yep. I’m planning to build new PC to my TV. But still saving up money and looking for a case that is small. If there is one system comes to mind it’s Zotac SN970 but it’s freaking expensive so I want to build one myself.

                    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

                      ah okay..good luck

            • Taiga571

“If you say laptop for my fam, it’s useless, since all data are saved on that big PC, it also acts as a everyone’s data server in our home.”

Based on (bitter) personal experience, this is one risky move. Just sayin’ :(

      • Lokoline

I just don’t like to play game games on pc, I have a lot of games on steam but barely played them. I just get bored while playing on a pc. :/

    • Mk333

Yeah. Even they insist to play it in handheld, a non-brand windows 8 tablet can easily run this game.

    • The Jokester

That’s not really my mindset I am happy more JRPG’s are coming out for a wide verity of platforms so everyone can play. It seems like alot of JRPG games have been coming out on PC and Steam lately when they used to not so good for steam users. It is a shame they couldn’t put this on Vita for those who like to game on the go. I would have liked that to have all 3 games on one platform myself. I am just pretty much a doofus when it comes to computers and PC gaming so I stick to consoles and handhelds because there much easier and user friendly to me. I am just glad I can ply both PSP games without needing to play the 3rd to get a complete story. ^_^

      • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Ugly mindset and again you never really linked it. The things I have to learn for playing games I want, to even learn another languange for that, to even learn the basic of modding to being able to play one correctly, etc.

    • Firion Hope

Personally I’m just as fine playing it on one or the other and I’m glad we’re getting them but considering the first two games on the series are there (and was the only way to play the first game for a long time), theres some save import bonus (I think?), and the fact they’re translating the game anyway which is the vast majority of work for these games I can see why some people would be upset.

Also breaks up the series into requiring multiple platforms, could’ve had all the games on vita, now you have to at least jump between vita and pc if you want to play all the games in the series. Luckily I think nowadays almost everyone has some old PC that could play these games at least and even if they didn’t they could get one on the cheap. But Im sure theres some people who wouldn’t spend the $30 to get a playstation tv to play the cold steels either so it balances out.

    • http://www.shadowedblade.net/ Sean Engel

I play lots of games on my PC… but I tend not to enjoy JRPGs on a PC because the controllers I prefer don’t work well with PC.
There are a lot of other issues, like the ability to play it on the go, or stream it with less resources used on the PC, etc… but overall, I’m debating whether I’ll get TC because of this. I’m not going to say flat out I won’t, but it is significantly less likely. If it were available for PSTV/Vita it’d be a 100% guaranteed day 1 buy. On PC it’s a ‘we’ll see if I run out of my ‘must play’ list’ because it’s less flexible for me on PC.

      • http://www.crimsontear.com/ Tyler

Go PC Master Race!!! lol Just kidding.
I’m glad to hear the game is so popular on the PC that they are continuing it, but it sucks that fans on the other systems aren’t going to enjoy it. If you’re enjoying SC enough, it may be worth getting it on PC and streaming it, or connecting a laptop to your TV and playing it with a controller.

        • http://www.shadowedblade.net/ Sean Engel

Cold Steel = console master race ;)
Nah, just kidding. The reality is simply that I’m already like 40 hours in streaming it on console, and I doubt my viewers will enjoy sitting through the same 40 hours just ’cause I decided to change platforms on a whim, not to mention that I don’t really have time for that haha. It’s a pity, but I kind of expected it. Just hope that someday the series gets like a ps4/xbo remaster. These games deserve it.
The controllers I like don’t play well with PC. The PS3 controller has abysmal pc support and the PS4 is okay, but not great.
Which is a bit of a problem, but ya, we’ll see.

  • Aluja

For the people that absolutely must play it on a ”handheld”.

    • Mike

      Thank you!

“According to XSEED, the Trails franchise has sold more than 350,000 units to date”.
Those numbers are for the west right? If so they are pretty good right?
Anyway I’m so happy for this, If Trails keep on this momentum, we may be seeing Zero No Kiseki and Ao getting translated eventually!

    • Mk333

I think Asia and Europe as well. xseed also publishes their game directly on Asian region

    • Ksatmata

what i’m surprised, half of it came from FC on PC

  • PuppetMaster

Kinda dissapointed since this means i can’t use my PSP saves and can’t put all my TitS collection in one platform. But oh well, i guess this is better than nothing…

Anyway 350k for Trails franchise in the west? Nice! More people need to play this amazing series. But i wonder how many Cold Steel sold between PS3 and Vita…

    • Mk333

Some ppl say u can just download the PC version of SC save file. And use it as if it’s your own.

      • PuppetMaster

        Ah yeah that makes sense.

  • awvnx

work started on it a while ago and XSEED is really passionate about the series

  • tastyharwze

Isn’t that game developed by Falcom? Their games common thing on pc. There’s no reason to feel bad about it in any way, it’s not a “big game series” or something.

  • awvnx

I don’t think anyone’s posted the opening yet.

Where the dam ps4 copy at come on xseed!!!!!!!!!! Bring it

    • Satoshi Ookami

      >Where the dam ps4 copy
Um… nowhere because it does not exist?

      • Chris Saldana

Well this needs to happen the hell are they waiting for!!!

        • Satoshi Ookami

Well, first, XSEED is not a developer, second, there are already enhanced versions in EVOLUTION games and finally,,, Japan still prefers Vita, doing PS4 port when Vita ones already out would be pointless :)

          • Chris Saldana

It’s will not be pointless !!! I want a ps4 addition is that to hard to ask for.. I’m just saying. Guess I’ll dream..

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

      not gonna happen ever lol

    • Richard Miller

Be careful as that can be seen as port begging and might get your comment removed.

  • Lokoline

Only pc? That sucks. Then I’ll pass.

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

      Such interest.

      • Lokoline

        Something wrong?

        • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Yeah buy it to localize more *poiting gun*

    • Zeonis

It does suck because I don’t like playing games on PC.

      • CoolingGibbon

        Lo and behold, a peasant!

        • Zeonis

Lo and behold, someone who thinks he is superior because he plays games on PC!

  • Taiga571

It is quite saddening to know that this finally-confirmed good news is not universally praised. Ew, PC? Ew, not the Evo version. Long gone is the era where *any* localization news of JRPGs was received with joy.
Rant: Why PC? Reason: PSP version sold like sh*t.
Rant: Why no the “better” version, the Evo? Reason: (most possibly) licensing nightmare, especially on VA part. Dang, the thought of “no JP voice, no buy” brigades boycotting (hopefully) Tokyo Xanadu should they remove the star-studded (which, IMO, not really. I see no Daisuke Ono or Maaya Sakamoto in the cast ;)) JP voice gives me shivers.
    There.

And, hell, using spoiler format is cool. Browsing the comment section here’s kinda dangerous. Some people (e.g. me) has yet to finish even FC, y’know? :((

    • Mozendo

Honestly, people these days are just too whiny and it’s most likely a vocal minority anyways.

      >Fans begs for games to come overseas
      >Publisher delivers
      >Not the platform of choice / no Japanese audio / whatever stupid reason here
      >All of a sudden they are outraged and don’t even want to touch the game

      It’s so incredibly silly.

      • Dnetwork7

Some people just need to understand that no one gives a shit about their feelings, this is amanzing news and i myself played both games on my vita, do you see me complaining, no im just going get a gaming pc buy fc and sc again, platinum cold steel on my second run, and be hyped for cold steel 2. Its pisses me off that people always want something to bitch about when they should just be happy such a niche game is making its way to the west.

        • Elvick

You expect people to care about your feelings and be happy with the PC version only, because you personally are cool with getting that version.

          The hypocrisy is adorable.

Good for you that you’re happy. But some people aren’t. Thems the breaks. Welcome to the real world.

      • jamaicandj

People now are days especially gamers complain about anything any little thing they will complain about it’s quite sad especially the new generation of gamers i’m more happy seeing more JRPGS being released in general even if it’s on a system i can’t buy XD

      • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Now now Its not stuppid. I fully support the original language option, I challenge you as a fanboy who bought every english release.

        • Mozendo

I prefer games being dual-audio so that way both sides win, but I’m not going to turn my back on a product after months of asking for it because I didn’t like the voices. Most games these days have the options to turn off voices (except maybe the original Xenoblade), if something minor annoys me I turn it off.

And dual audio / Japanese only while more popular is still a rare thing to do in localizations and people who stick by thear dual/Japanese-audio or death mentality are just hurting themselves.

      • Raziel Kõbe

and the mobile games? You buy this game if it was released for Android / Ios ?

        • Mozendo

I hope you realize that this game didn’t shift in platforms, it’s a
originally a PC game, a platform that due to it’s constant sales can
actually keep the franchise continuing in the west which is was happened to this series.

      • LordKaiser

That’s because they never experience the big boom on fan translations back in the 2ks. What we got from them is all we had.

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

it’s disappointing that it won’t come to psp..but it’s still so damn dumb to just give up on the game entirely. i’ll buy it because i love this series, and i played the first 2 games on psp.

xseed is an awesome company and they deserve every penny for bringing these games over here.

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Chara-ini make things complicated. Thats why Evo version are difficult its not just a language barrier its Chara-ini hating gaijins. 3rd dub or undub dont really matter, characters speak on battles only. Hardly an impediment.

    • Elvick

So if they had ported it to iOS exclusively [no Android] and that was the only localized version, and it crashed all the time, looked even worse somehow, and had Engrish localization, ingame ads, cost $39.99 to buy… you’d be okay with it?

After all, it’s better than nothing? Extreme example, but it proves how ludicrous your stance is. Stop trying so hard to sit on that high horse.

Who cares if people don’t want the PC version? It’s their prerogative. Are you buying their games? No, so mind your own business and let people be disappointed if they are.

      • Taiga571

Except that, you know, in no way I’m attempting to proselytize others with my stance (which isn’t going to change)… except you count the word “saddening” as a strong word *shrugs*

    • http://www.shadowedblade.net/ Sean Engel

Honestly, Taiga… there are a lot of reasons for people to be upset over the version they’ve played not continuing.
      1) Carry-over. I play on PSTV, in fact I stream the game on PSTV, and losing my progress, even if it is only marginal, is still a sore spot for me.
      2) On the go. A lot of people like to play these types of low-graphic JRPGs on the go. A handheld like a PSVita is great for this. A PC, not so much. Especially since a LOT of these games don’t have touch screen support.
      3) Hardware availability. Not everyone has a computer they game at. So they want the platform they have access to to receive the game. And a Vita/PSTV costs <100 dollars if you know where to look… getting a decent computer costs far more than that.
      4) Brand Support. There are people who like to support certain platforms, as its nice to see them grow… or they dislike certain platforms and don't want to support them. Some like supporting Sony because Sony has treated them well in the past. I'm less focused on supporting certain brands, but I will never support Valve. Which means anything steam exclusive is just off the menu for me… fortunately not the case for this game (thank you GoG) but still something worth noting.
      5) Different people like different genres on different platforms. I don't enjoy JRPGs on PC generally. I find them more fun on the couch with a controller than on a pc chair with a keyboard/mouse(less of an issue now that I have an AMAZING pc chair and I do most of my gaming from that, even on console given my room's setup but…), and the controller I like doesn't work terribly well with PC.
It's not good to dismiss others opinions based off of the fact that news makes you happy… I'm glad it makes you happy. But I'm still very sad that I won't be able to play this the way I enjoy it. It's a real low note to what is otherwise good news.

I’m a bit sad that the PSP version is not being localized, but I’m just happy to see this game get localized, platform be damned.

  • Daniel Heuser

Can I borrow the cone of silence for a moment?

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Five years ago we didn’t even know if we were going to get SC and now look at this franchise.

  • new_tradition

I’m not going to say I’m not disappointed the psp version isn’t available, but I expected it. So even though I likely won’t get around to playing it, at least the story is available in English for a good chunk of the fan base.

  • penemue

Not really surprising about the PSP, it’s just way too old, but even more importantly it would have been neglected by everyone except those who only own a PC because they most likely held out for Trails of Cold Steel instead and now with ToCS 2 confirmed, the same thing will probably happen again.

    • Giordan

That’s up to Falcom as there’s no PC version of Cold Steel at this time.

  • kcz7

So they’re calling the SC sale a “bundle” on PSN for what reason? Is it because there were 2 physical UMDs on PSP? If so, why would that be considered a “bundle” if it’s not technically a bundle as it’s one single digital purchase? The “bundle” phrasing got me hyped bc I thought it was both the 1st & 2nd game…. but I’m guessing that’s not the case.

    • TwinBuns

It’s just the way the PS Store works when a single purchase gives you multiple downloads. It’s really unfortunate because it won’t show up when using the “Game” filter on the web store. For a long time it wouldn’t even show up in the Vita store, not even when using the search. I think it’s quite likely only the people waiting for SC to come out actually went out of their way to find and buy it.

  • jamaicandj

hype is here! YEA THE THRID can’t wait ty xseed and falcom for making this possible.

    • Mar Mar

Man, it’s like wait is over. How people were talking that it would take a ridiculous amount of years (2 digit!) to translate these games.

So we can expect Zero and Azure to come out in the future

  • iKoyy

This is a great forJRPG lovers. This franchise went through hell to reach NA and EU and it is a great joy to finally see TC and CSII coming our way. These stories and the characters in these games are on a totally different level than what you usually see. Man I just finished bravely second after doing Trails in the sky SC last month, bravely second feels like a story written for 10 year old kids, it as the depth of toddler bathtub and doing it after the masterpiece that is SC, it felt dull and uninspired. The Legend of Heroes needs and deserves to be played and promoted around us because it really is THAT good.

  • The Jokester

I never played the 2 on PSP but do I need to play the 3rd one I don’t game on PC but interested in the first 2 games is this a side story or all 1 complete story and you need to play all 3 to understand everything?

    • Mozendo

First Chapter and Second Chapter tell a complete story, the 3rd while is more of a follow up to that First Chapter and Second Chapter while setting in motions events for the next game Zero no Kiseki.

So you don’t need to play The 3rd, you can play the first two games, it’s more of a bonus chapter really which is why it’s called the 3rd (since it’s the 3rd entry) and not Third Chapter

      • The Jokester

OH OK THANK YOU!!! This helps me alot because I don’t have a Steam account and not really tec savvy so idk really much about PC gaming exclusive console gamer here lol. :P I wanted to get the PSP games digitally while there on sell but was afraid I wouldn’t get a complete and satisfied ending without the 3rd game. Now that I know that I can buy without worries thanks so much. ^_^

        • awvnx

You can buy it on GOG without having to use Steam. But Steam is fairly easy to use anyway.

        • chocodino

it’s pretty much the same as consoles.
make account, put money into account [via CC or prepaid card], purchase game, install game, play game. The only thing you would have to “worry” about, would be that your pc meets the requirements to run it……but unless your computer is like, 10-15 years old, then you shouldn’t have a problem.

the 3rd can be described as a “Bridge Game”, it’s used to link the first duology with the second [Zero/Ao], and eventually the next one [cold steel].

          • The Jokester

I see well I will give it some thought. Thanks

    • Velesk

I’d advise you to give The 3rd a shot anyway. Yes, it’s not required as FC and SC are a contained story. But it expands greatly upon the worlds lore and is just a blast to play. You will get to understand the characters from FC/SC a lot more and get see their backstory.
Basically if you love the story of FC and SC you will want to play The 3rd. The game also heavily ties into future games so if you skip The 3rd you’ll be missing something.
Yeah, it sucks it won’t be on PC but this game when it was released originally in Japan on PC was designed to run on even the most weakest of hardware your average PC user would have at the time. If your computer was made in the last 10 year it will have no trouble running The 3rd.

      • The Jokester

OK well I might think about it but I gotta play the first 2 games and cold steel before that LOL XD. Once you buy a game from Steam do you have to be online to play it? Like say I take my laptop to some place without internet can I still play the games I buy? Also can you download it on multiple PC’s and laptops or just one download per machine?

        • Velesk

I think you can but you can also buy it from GoG.com which is completely DRM free. So if you want to be assured that you can play it whenever. Pick it up there.

  • BizarreJelly

So unbearably stoked for this, quickly became one of my favorite RPG series and we’re getting more and more of the games. Maybe the Crossbell games will become a reality, who knows? XSEED are the best.

It saddens me that there are people who will refuse to get it because it’s not on their preferred platform, but they’re only missing out in the end so eh.

  • Espoir

Dissapointed. Expected a psp release for the Vita.

    Passing on this game.

    • BizarreJelly
      • Espoir

Lol is this supposed to be clever?

    • Giordan

It makes sense since the PSP is over a decade old at this point. Also the fact the PSP store is getting shut down at the end of March.

      • Cyberjin

they are shutting down PSP Store front.
that doesn’t mean you can’t buy psp anymore.
there is webstore, PS3 store, Vita / PSTV store.

basically they are too lazy to update the PSP layout every week that no one really uses that often.

    • Ladius

While I can understand your disappointment, I think they did a lot to show their goodwill by localizing SC on PSP in late 2015, especially considering they have to rely on Falcom to do the programming (unlike Gaijinworks, which does that in-house). Also, they said that one would be their last PSP game long before announcing The 3rd.

If you like the series and its setting I hope you will still consider The 3rd when it’s released, just seeing some Star Door subtitled videos (you can find them on the Esterior fansite) added lots of details to the series’ lore (including some foreshadowing for Cold Steel) and made me pretty hyped to play the game. That said, The 3rd isn’t directly part of any of Trails’ story arcs.

      • Espoir

        I’ll sww.

I admit I am extremely salty over this, but I hope it will pass.

  • An Tran

    Aw, no PSP?
Well at least we get this game now………Officially.
Wonder if this would run on my Q1UP…..

    • Aluja

      Maaaaaaybe~

      Or you could use this:
      http://moonlight-stream.com/

      • kudostoyou

        >>buying multiple device to play toaster game
        >>top kek

        • Aluja

I’m assuming he has a phone or tablet lol.

EDIT: I just saw the requirements, now I get what you mean.

  • Lara Croft

Just glad that it’s getting released actually. And never give up hope, maybe one day the Vita version will get localized.

    • kudostoyou

hope the EVO trilogy version for vita

      • Giordan

sadly that version isn’t made by Falcom and has copyright issues.

  • Giordan

It makes sense from a business perspective. Not even Gaijinworks is bringing a PSP game in 2017

    • Blackiris

They would also need someone from Falcom to do the localization programming, and Falcom likely won’t have a dedicated PSP programmer available in 2017 (they are always busy enough anyway). You can’t even access the PSN store from your PSP anymore and maybe Sony won’t even approve of new PSP games in 2017. So yeah, it’s about business but also about possibilities.

      • Zet Steal

        I truly appreciate their efforts.
        Which is why I support.

    • Cyberjin

I though they said that they were interested in doing the rest of the Summon Night series

      • Giordan

Interested doesn’t mean they’ll do it.

  • Raziel Kõbe

lol look the news about mobile games…. You buy this game if it was released for Android / Ios ? Hypocrasy….

    • Taiga571

First of all, would they even bother to localize the game at all if it was for Android/iOS?

    • Mk333

I won’t buy it on iOS. Unlike Steam/PSN, Apple has a very bad track record for deleting app that you have bought. I bought Broken Sword Remastered on it and now I can’t download it anymore since it’s gone from their server.

  • Jack

Its a good thing this game’s story doesn’t really matter that much and you only need to play the first two Trails in the Sky to get the complete story. So for those who are just getting into this series and don’t have a PC, its ok to skip this one.

    • Aluja

      No it’s not Jack.

      • Ladius

While I think it would be really a shame to skip this game for anyone interested in the series, technically he isn’t that wrong. On one hand The 3rd apparently adds tons of characterization, lore and foreshadowing that make the series much more enjoyable, but on the other hand it tells its own story and isn’t directly a part of any of the major Trails story arc. The story started in FC gets closure in SC, so people unable to play The 3rd won’t be left with a cliffhanger ending or anything like that.

        • Aluja

No, he’s wrong so are you.

The 3rd is a bridge, it answers questions and asks a lot more questions. If you get answers to questions you don’t know about, it then isn’t going to make much sense.

Besides you see these characters a lot in Zero/Ao.

  • Zeonis

I only wish we were getting this for PS3 or PSP/Vita.

    • Richard Miller

It may come to the vita just like how The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel may eventually come to PC. Everything takes time.

      • Ladius

Problem is, a Cold Steel PC port would be made specifically for the western market, while the Vita Evolution ports’ whole issue is that their licensing (multiple companies involved beside Falcom, issues regarding the dub track’s rights) makes them very difficult to localize exactly because they were made for Japan without any concern for the west.

        • OverLimitBreak

So our hopes for the Evolution version making it to the west just went down the drain…

          • Satoshi Ookami

And people would know that if they actually bothered to read a few comments…
It’s been repeated about 20 times already =D

            • OverLimitBreak

It’s okay I understand some people hate reading and only wants to look at pictures. XD

  • LordKaiser
  • LordKaiser

Just in time since I managed to recover my Steam account. This may be the 1rst PC game that I buy digitally since the physical era of PC games died… I will miss those huge fancy boxes…

    *SPOILERS*

Now I will find more about how the demise of the Bracer guild in Erebonia and how Chancellor Orsbone conspired against the Bracers and to see if he was the ones who contracted the Jaegers to burn them down.

    • Richard Miller

Your steam account must be super old.

    • CoolingGibbon

Welcome back to the PC gaming fold, brother. May your ascension from peasantry be glorious and rewarding just as before!

  • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

    I. If you want to spam post about which platform this is on, please leave feedback on the XSEED social channels. That’s the best way for XSEED to see that important feedback. Do not just continue to spam post it here. Thanks.

    https://www.facebook.com/XSEEDGames
    https://twitter.com/XSEEDGames

II. If you would like to be critical about this only coming to PC. That’s fine. Just follow our guidelines while doing so. Be respectful to each other. If you want to criticize, bring facts and an open mind, along with some patience. We heavily frown upon spam or flame comments. If you have a different opinion, discuss it kindly. Also, don’t post one liner troll replies.

III. Stop promoting piracy. I’m not going to call anyone out, but please stop that. Just like it says in our guidelines, we’re all fans here and we want our industry to thrive. If you don’t want to buy the game at launch price, wait for a sale and buy it then.

Thanks and carry on with the discussion.

Best place in regards to platform complaints, this linked post comes from the source directly and an explanation is given.

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

can’t believe that someone said it’s okay to pirate because the game will sell alot… xseed needs all the sales it can get.

      what scumbags.

      • Ladius

Especially considering SC has been out for months and it definitely hasn’t sold a lot, regardless of our thoughts about its sales being bad or good enough given the boost to FC.

Trails is as far from a mainstream franchise as it can be, as you say every sales matter if we want it to continue in the west.

    • Blackbishop

The sale is also available in GOG.com, just saying in case someone is interested in buying it there.

      • Richard Miller

I support GOG more than steam so that is good news for me.

      • Cyberjin

buy it via the humble bundle store
You get steam version and DRM free version

  • Richard Miller

I will make sure to get this game on the PC to complete the trilogy.

  • DavidCage

    Thank you falcom and xseed…

  • Zet Steal

Sorry, I paid for it like everyone else. And rightfully so, I’m disappointed it’s not coming at least on the psp or vita in some way. I do want to continue it. But I’m not a pc gamer and as someone who was patient enough to wait for the story, because it’s title 1,2,3 “respectivly” yes I’m disappointed 😞.

For those speaking of all other methods while nice, some people just don’t pc/tablet/phone game. And I don’t pirate. All of jeeebuussss rage….

    • Ladius

Keep in mind The 3rd isn’t the final chapter in a trilogy, the story arc started in FC ended in SC and this game is more of a side-story that fleshes out the Trails lore and some characters’ backgrounds while setting the stage for the Crossbell and Erebonia games.

  • LastBoss

Extremely bummed this is p.c only, especially when my Vita can always use more of this type of love. I’ve always wanted to grab a tablet & steal account for various reasons. I completely understand those who only have a psp/vita, like me. PSN is universal which makes the decision more profound. I’d wait for that copy, down the road just so everyone was satisfied. You shouldn’t attack each other just cause others have invested in their platform of choice, so they could enjoy these titles. But. Win on the battlefield is still on a victory. Carry on.

  • vashe9

Still have to begin 2nd that I’ve bought on … day 1 on steam >< You should be ok with pc only seriously. This game can run on a windows 10 tablet… or on any old PC.

  • Qwerty

It’s also more of the case people that played on the PSP/VITA won’t have any progress to carry over as well =/

    • Ladius

Don’t worry, you can easily download PC saves that mirror your PSP ones, not to mention the save transfer apparently has a lot less impact on The 3rd than it had on SC (and that was still marginal).

    • Articuno76

TBH, there’s not really anything to carry over.

  • supersungin

great news..i hope old-new japenese games are coming to pc.cause am sick and tired with ea,ubisoft games.

  • Goth2191

Even though I don’t like their attitude sometimes being “if it’s not already ported, we are not gonna bring it to PC” (Basically just because I would prefer the PSP version of Corpse Party (and oc the other Ys games also) on Steam over the old PC one they are bringing, which I’ll buy anyways, but still), I really like this response from them.

    http://forum.marvelous-usa.com/index.php?showtopic=28074&st=450#entry915649
“Those of you who say you don’t play games on PC, I’d like to point out that the majority of you *can* play games on PC, you’re just choosing not to. And that is certainly your choice to make. But I’d honestly suggest just… giving it a try. I used to think gaming on PC was a sucky alternative to gaming on a console… but then again, I also used to think gaming on a handheld was a sucky alternative to gaming on a console. It was all about playing games on my living room TV, and if I couldn’t manage that, I didn’t want to play those games at all.

…Then a game I really wanted to play came out exclusively for PC. So… I grit my teeth, I bought it on Steam, and I played it. And you know what? The experience was absolutely no different than playing on my living room TV. My awesome Logitech controller is actually even more comfortable in my hands than my PS3 controller, in fact, so it’s almost BETTER in a lot of ways. I’ve actually chosen to play certain games on PC over console now, to no one’s surprise more than my own.

The PC is a perfectly viable platform, and the experience of becoming a PC gamer has made me realize how foolish I was whenever I turned down a game solely due to its platform — because ultimately, it’s not about the platform, it’s about the game. If the game is good, you could literally be playing it on a TI-85 calculator and it wouldn’t matter.

This should be a happy day for the Trails fanbase. So let’s take back Trails Day, shall we? Let’s make this the happy occasion it should’ve been from the start!”

This is something to be happy about, not something to fight
And tbf this games literally works in any PC with a pentium 4, so is not like you wouldn’t be able to play it on the PC which you are typing/reading now n.ñ

    • NateDizzy

Also, there’s Steam Link. Not great for games that require zero lag, but perfect for a turn based JRPG.

  • X-Bone

Well, I AM primarily a PC Gamer, so the issue of it not being on PSP is not really an issue for me.

  • Infasis

Not sure what I missed here.
Is buying a cheapass copy of the game from Japan, extracting the isos, and applying a fan patch considered piracy now? or were people talking about just pirating the PC version or something?

    • Mozendo

      That won’t give XSeed sales

    • https://twitter.com/Kaisenex Kaisen

someone was talking about pirating it but it’s deleted now

      • Infasis

Oh, okay, thanks. I always seem to get to these controversial threads really late and feel like I missed everything.
I’m not thrilled about only having a PC version in English, but I didn’t actually think this was coming at all and i was already planning on buying the EVO games anyway.
I’ve been putting far too much time into digging around and worrying when games will get released in English when I should just be studying more and just leaving English behind. I really need to make a set studying schedule. It’s just way to tempting to reach for my Vita or 3DS instead of my Genki books when I keep them right next to each other.

  • ayanami-chan

    Wait… PC only? Lame

    • Zeonis

      Agreed.

    • Richard Miller

      No it’s not.

      • ayanami-chan

It is actually considering the fanbase isn’t on there

        • Richard Miller

Well seeing how it sells great on PC you must be wrong. Fanbases go where the games go as they are not tied to platforms.

        • Fox

Nope. Majority of the Western fanbase is on PC.

  • Evil_Betox

I’m sorry if i’m incorrect guys but aren’t they making a Vita port called “Evolution”? Maybe they plan to bring that version instead of the PSP version, i can play on PC but i were a Vita user only i wouldn’t just panic yet.

    • Daniel Heuser

Chara-Ani, the Japanese company that has the rights to the Evolution versions, is well noted for being insanely stingy about licensing their products outside of Japan so this is extremely unlikely.

Also aside from the full voices the Evolution versions of FC and SC are imo inferior in both music and art to the originals.

      • waijie666

But Sora FC Evolution is released in Chinese though.

        • Satoshi Ookami

          That’s still Asia =D Asia works =D

  • SirDoucheOfTheSunCovenant

Wonder if Xseed will try too pull some strings too drop this puppy on the psV psn

    • Cyberjin

      so the PSP version? nope

      • SirDoucheOfTheSunCovenant

I don’t see what’s stopping them from putting it on the psV psn you can buy psp games on it so yeah

        • Cyberjin

yea, I guess it does take more time and money to do maybe

        • Aluja

Because it’s still a PSP game, just because the Vita plays PSP games is irrelevant. Someone at Falcom still needs to work and edit the English text in for the PSP version.

Also the PSP version is censored(Renne’s past is gone).

          • Dnetwork7

Holy shit really????? They really censored that, well now im happy we are just getting the pc verison. Lol

            • Fox

Personally, ID prefer the censored version.

Call be crazy, but I really don’t like reading about small children getting brutally raped over and over.

          • Dnetwork7

Holy shit really????? They really censored that, well now im happy we are just getting the pc verison. Lol

        • Aluja

  • Lambadelta

people are mad this is on PC? why am i surprised i shouldn’t be. isn’t Cold Steel 2 suppose to be Sony consoles only on the other hand? isn’t SC3 just a side story/spin-off anyway? i am not a big fan though so i can be wrong, i only played the first one and i am waiting to finish it before i buy the second one.

    • kandori

No, 3rd isn’t a spin-off or whatever. But this thread does show you how childish Sony fans are. It’s not even like these games require a good, or even decent, PC. Anyone should be able to play them.

      • Clousephinat

This happens not only with Sony fans, I’ve seen many threads of PC players also being really annoying everytime their game is not released for the PC, in fact if anything I’ve seen many more people complaining when it happens this way, but anyway there will always be some dumb people in both sides of the coin.
