    YAAAAAAAAAAAAS!

  • Seigi no Mikata

And Cold Steel III in the west for the fall 2017? That would be good actually (but maybe it won’t be possible)

    • Zatekuyo

Autumn 2018 would be more likely, but we’ll see.

If its released this year you can bet in one year of localization for it.

    • Elle

It’ll be at least a year after the Japanese version for sure

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Called it. They progressed quite a lot even after releasing the first entry. We can now enjoy roads between cities and Toval:

Class 7 was kinda meant to follow the approach of the Bracers, but they didn’t even go to places by foot.

Learning the layout of places you’re meant to protect was a big theme in Trails in the Sky

      • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

You will enjoy it in CS2, its one of the big improvements, there also new places to connect with the ones we knew and dungeons in between like TiTS and if you get tired of walking use the motorcycle.

      • awvnx

Erebonia is way too big for that. And railways are the theme of the empire.

        • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

But now you are not bound to the school neither you need to return there for completing a chapter, in any chapter you could still visit the first towns you explore instead of being lock down. In any case Falcom took note, japanese players love walking simulators so they stated wont make the same mistake.

      • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

Well now we have the Courageous and horses and bike, so that shouldn’t be a problem :D

      • NegativeZero

The Liberl bracers only travel on foot because there isn’t a proper transport network like the train system in Erebonia.

The roads in Cold Steel II are there primarily so that Rean has somewhere to use his motorcycle.

        • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

In reality thats an excuse they used for not making bigger maps to explore, other games still encourage you even when you have the means of transportations.

We also have a flying ship at our disposal but for finding npc and do quest we need to travel on foot.

          • James Reilly

There was a big map in the first game where you can do plenty of walking. The Highlands lol

    • Elle

I always felt like the first game was meant to have roads between cities (they talked about them at least) but never got around to it idk

  • https://twitter.com/LeFORCIER Marks

Yay! I’ll buy this eventually. I still have to play the first one, the box is sitting on my desk back home collecting dust, lol.

  • Daniel Masterson

Some damn good Trails news today.

  • Juan Ibarreche

ok now I have a reason to get the platinum in Trails of Cold Steel, just 3 trophies.

    • Metlspaz

same, I have Nightmare, all dances thing, and rean quartzer one

  • Satoshi Ookami

It really is much easier to localize than Sora SC, hehe =D

  • ayanami-chan

    This pleases me.

  • Onsa-san

I’m really happy about this news, there is a hope at least.

It seems like the pattern in part 2 will be different from part 1
    [::Spoilers::](school -> school duties -> field studies…etc)
Not that I don’t like part1 but I hope this will be more open.

    • Metlspaz

it is. after a little while, you can pick from a lot of the maps in CS1 to just jump to whenever you feel like

  • Chris Cruz

I’m actually curious as to how Cold Steel 3 is gonna look.

    • Elle

      Like Ys VIII

      • Chris Cruz

        That’s a good thing.

    • James Reilly

      Similar to Tokyo Xanadu.

      • raymk

Hopefully a little better than that maybe.

  • XrosBlader821

still gotta finish the first one

  • Superior Amygdala

Wish this was on PS4. I broke my Vita and sold my PS3 :/

    • Dammage

Never sell your old consoles dood. You’ll always end up regretting it

      • Anime10121

This! I’ve never understood why people do it to begin with (not saying this is what Superior did but), selling a console just because you get a new one is crazy… A new console does not invalidate all the games the old one has that the new one doesnt :|

        • Martin

I’ve still got my PS2 tucked away in the wardrobe. i rarely use it, but when I do, I feel glad that I didn’t sell it or gave it away.

        • LordKaiser

Because the PS3 was a disappointment for many people.

  • James Reilly

    Millium is still smug.

  • Sneeze

    Time to save money!

  • LunarHaven

Excited excited eeeeexcited!!!! So soon too!

  • Shadzard

How is Cold Steel II in terms of performance?

    • Articuno76

It runs far more stably than the first game, and loads quicker too. The only time I can really recall it dipping at all was during cutscenes loads of characters on screen (like 20+) which happened maybe twice.

      • Shadzard

Thanks, I’ll play the Vita version, so I was worried it could be worse.

  • Troll King Aizen

My face when I’m gonna be playing this + all the other truckload of jrpgs this year

  • Budgiecat

thought it’d be much earlier than that

    • LordKaiser

They just stating recording this month.

  • LordKaiser

So I will have to wait to the end of the year… I better take my time with Cold Steel then.

    I’m currently on chapter 6.

    • Elle

You might as well finish it if you’re that far tho.

  • MegaRay

Shit, I need to finish the first game…

  • commodorewheeler

So excited about this. Cold Steel 1 was my favorite JRPG in several years, I hear the sequel is even better.

    • Frank Doomrider Johansen

Can you tell me why? Because when I see Legend of Heroes games, all I see is crap, like Persona. I bought Cold Steel and played it for about 1-2 hours before I felt like womiting. I can’t stand school stuff unless it takes a HUGE back seat, like almost non extistent.

      • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

It does in this game. Besides the most vital parts of the game happen outside the school anyway

        • Frank Doomrider Johansen

My problems are with how much time is spent at the school/Academy, uniforms, teen/kids anxiety, childish little problems, country based story setting/warfare. It is also a problem for me that there are several games in this series and I am afraid to waste my time, but I see people talking about this series like it is one of the biggest things in JRPG gaming and based upon all those details I just can’t understand it. I don’t see anything that gives me the impression that it could hold a candle to games like Final Fantasy, Xenogears, Wild arms or Arc the Lad.

When I see the cast in cold steel I only get that popular anime teen series that are dominating the anime scene (Inuyasha, Naruto, Sword art online all of which I hate), and I am more into stuff like Fist Of The North Star, Ghost in the shell, Akira and Berserk.

          • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

            Uniforms- NG+ or DLC

The whole war/ anxiety-makes it interesting IMO, seeing everyone trying to live normal lives, knowing a war is on the verge of happening.

The series as a whole-the way everything comes together, full circle. Yes, you have to play just about every game, but the story and the characters really become even greater if you do.

Childish problems-tbf, most of class VII start out as spoiled, self centered kids, who can’t work together initially over petty things. They know when it’s time to, and quickly get over trivial problems. Cold Steel is about them seeing the world for what it is, maturing and being able to make their own decisions, much like Trails in the Sky and SC.

In short, it takes a lot of time and patience to understand and appreciate this game and its respective series more than others, but it’s well worth it, if you give it a chance.

            • Frank Doomrider Johansen

” it takes a lot of time and patience to understand and appreciate this game” to me it seems like the complete opposite :) I see nothing special at all. Nothing to sink my teeth into (mind)

And to me based upon everything I have experienced in games, movies, anime you name it…
the thing about “Childish problems-tbf, most of class VII start out as spoiled, self centered kids, who can’t work together initially over petty things. They know when it’s time to, and quickly get over trivial problems. Cold Steel is about them seeing the world for what it is, maturing and being able to make their own decisions”

Is WAY to obvious for me, it doesn’t intrigue my brain with something new to discover. Things need to be more larger than life and have more unknown factors.

I’m not interested in a gaming world about local problems, and another series dealing with thei local problems in a different place.
Basically I’m not interested in another Suikoden.

              • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

Fair enough. This series isn’t everyone’s cup of tea

      • awvnx

Well, half the game takes place in the school and the other half takes places around the empire. The sequel doesn’t take place in the school for obvious reasons once you know what happens at the end of the first one.

        • Frank Doomrider Johansen

Even if the sequel doesn’t take place in the school they better not repeate the formula at some base or fortress with crappy days off activity stuff. Move the story forward and don’t drag it through the mud with unimportant character stuff :D

      • commodorewheeler

Sure, the thing that impresses me the most is the gameplay. There’s a good tactical element to the combat, but it never gets bogged down in complexity for me.

Story wise, I liked it. The plot kept me interested, and unlike most JRPGs nowadays, I actually liked the characters. They’re still kinda JRPG-tropey to me, but they are so in a way that actually isn’t annoying to me. The school setting didn’t bother me, I don’t play too many games with a school setting so the premise isn’t as tired to me as some others.

The soundtrack is really good too, Falcom never fails at those.

        • Frank Doomrider Johansen

The first impressions of the characters had me jawning big time. And when it comes to plot it needs to go beyond 2 or a few countries at war with boarder disputes with some special forces units with special powers. None of the main characters were cool, they just felt like a bunch of kids. So with so many negative things for me the story needs to be big, with some amazing plot twists that I don’t see coming.

          • commodorewheeler

Well , you asked for my impressions and opinions, and I gave them to you. Maybe I should ask you what JRPGs you actually did like so I can understand why we have a difference of opinion?

            • Frank Doomrider Johansen

Sure thing: Phantasy Star I, II, IV, Final Fantasy series (especially 4, 6, 7, 8, 9), Tales of series, Star Ocean, Lost Odyssey, Xenogears, Xenoblade Chronicles, Arc the Lad series, Wild Arms 1, 2, 3. Ys Series.

              • commodorewheeler

I’ve played most of the games on your list and liked most of them as well. There are a few I didn’t like, but I’m not going to get into the details of those right now unless you really want me to. Clearly you’re not a fan of character activities and school settings. I’m OK with both of these things.

Found it curious that you included Star Ocean in your list of favorites. IIRC, that’s the series that pioneered character activities in JRPGs in NA.

                • Frank Doomrider Johansen

Well, Star ocean 4 is mainly the game for me in that series since it reminds me more of Phantasy Star. I’m not a fan of the slow paced backwater stuff, but I am a fan of Sci Fi so that’s why I like Star Ocean. Like the later parts of Star Ocean 3, moon base and onward :D The backwater planets bore me.
I got nothing against character interactions like Private scenes as long as it doesn’t take up a major part of the game.
I’m not a fan of experience the normal dayly lives of characters. And yeah, you are right that I hate School settings, that’s why I haven’t been able to get into the Persona games.

              • commodorewheeler

I would also recommend Skies of Arcadia to you, if you haven’t already played it and have a way of playing it now. I find it to be in a similar vein to the Phantasy Star games and the Wild Arms games, but I ultimately liked it better than both.

                • Frank Doomrider Johansen

Yeah, that is also one of my faves :D I didn’t want to list every game LOL! I also really like the Grandia 1 and 2. And also Breath Of Fire series to name a few more hahah!

                  • commodorewheeler

Grandia 2 is one of my all time favorites. Amazing combat system.

                    • Frank Doomrider Johansen

Grandia 2 has hte best Turn Based system ever made! And I can see that Cold Steel is inspired by it as well.

                    • commodorewheeler

Yeah that’s part of why I like it so much. It’s actually a little more strategic and challenging than Grandia 2 was, which isn’t a bad thing.

                    • Frank Doomrider Johansen

The ability to cancel/delay the move of an enemy or boss is the biggest thing about the Grandia battle system and the main reason I like it so much. Also the ability to hit several enemies in an aera or line.

                    • commodorewheeler

You can do both of those things in Cold Steel as well. But the default difficulty is more unforgiving of tactical errors in Cold Steel than in Grandia 2.

                    • Frank Doomrider Johansen

well, that can end up being cheap, like Digital Devil saga, that turn based system can be really cheap in a bad way. A higher challenge doesn’t make it better, it needs to be a ballanced system. And Grandia can be very unforgiving as well so based upon that I haven’t played a lot of cold steel I can’t really say :D

                    • commodorewheeler

I would say that Cold Steel’s battles are a little less forgiving than Grandia 2’s but nowhere near as cheap as Digital Devil Saga’s. At my age, with a full time job, a wife, and kids, I don’t have time for anything that is going to cheap shot me as much as DDS did.

          • awvnx

Well, the characters start off as tropes but they’ll get plenty of development later. They’re not super amazing or anything though and if you absolutely hate it from the start then maybe you just won’t like game.

The plot goes quite beyond what you’re talking about and the scope is quite wide, especially since it’s just the 6th game in a very long series.

If you love tons of detail in worldbuilding, then this is the series for you. If you want some fast paced story about saving the world, then stay away. If you go into the game wanting to hate it, then I don’t see how you can end up liking it since it does take quite some time to build up.

            • Frank Doomrider Johansen

So the plot goes beyond country alliegances or being a kind of mediator neutral party so that the actual countries and disputes are just a backdrop for bigger things? And not a story where ancient tech is the danger if one country gets it over the other?

When you say “If you want some fast paced story about saving the world”
It kind of annoys me and makes me wonder…. what games are under your umbrella of thought here?
If games like Final Fantasy VII, Xenogears and Wild Arms are in your mind then yes, that is what I prefer. I like stories that start small but unique and build big with a lot of plot twists that shape the entire world. I like Complex details and what many might consider “convoluted”

              • awvnx

No, the story isn’t what you’re describing at all. You might want to start with Trails in the Sky then, which starts off very small and ends up being a pretty large political thing in the first game, and something bigger in the second. They’re not set in a school.

And yes, there’s a lot of plot twists that are pretty big.

In all the games you’ll be doing lots of side quests that detail the world, and plus there’s lots of details from talking to NPCs whose dialog changes often. That’s the unique aspect of this series, the excellent world-building.

                • Frank Doomrider Johansen

When you say “World-building” I expect the whole planet, not just countries close by. Or continent. I prefer planetary scale stories. Not politics between nations. Things needs to be larger than life and not be like a deeper look at something basic like how people react to the complexity of war between nations. Why invade?, why defend?, why attack?, what are the needs, and how people have to grow fast in times of suffering at the hands of war. There needs to be some element that makes the politics and the actual tension between nations unimportant to a bigger threat.

                  • awvnx

Well, there is a shadowy conspiracy that’s manipulating things heavily between the nations, using ancient tech to do some big things, but the politics are pretty well-grounded before their reveal. I actually really like that aspect. And world-building doesnt need to involve the globe. There’s plenty of detailed lore for the nations that also explains what’s going on inside them to cause the strife.

I dunno dude, you’re way too specific about what you want to the point of absurdity. All I’ll say further is that the series is well-loved by a lot of people for good reasons, and that Cold Steel, the sixth game in the series, is probably not the game for you since you detest its setting. Trails in the Sky and the Crossbell games (if they’re ever translated) are better, but it’ll start off real slow and probably be tens of hours before the big events go into play. The whole thing develops over the span of multiple very long games.

You want to judge games based on what you want, instead of what they deliver, and that seems like an unfortunate way of thinking about it to me. For the fans of the series, these games fill a hole that many other series do not. For me, I fell in love with the series without knowing that it was what I liked beforehand.

                    • Frank Doomrider Johansen

Well, I judge games more harshly these days because so very few give me what I really want. And I have played so many games that I want to make th ebst possible use of my time when there are so many games to play. I don’t want to spend 1000s of hours on something that might just be mediocre. The only Legend Of Heroes game I have played is Tear Of Vermillion and that was basically just a waste of time, and that game had more interesting feel than Cold Steel.

A global threat to me is always better, because when it is based around a few countries I always think… sooo what’s the rest of the world doing while this is going on?

And I can also say that if the characters had looked a lot more cool and badass I would have bought it day one. There are so few JRPGs where the character designs are well made. When I see the characters on the cover of Cold Steel I just think… generic anime looking bunch… so that means they have more depth than cool characters, but without the traits that make a character cool :D

Anyway, I have enjoyed this conversation. The Shadowy conspiracy might be an angle that can get me one foot in the door. That’s More of the type of info I have been trying to find without spoiling too much.

      Because they are~<3

  • PuppetMaster

    Okay i’m waiting.

  • http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Zaig Zaig

I played the Japanese demo for this and it just made me more hyped. This will be game of the year for me, like the first was.

Also, dat screenshot of Sharon using a skill that casually serves tea to Rean sitting with veteran fighters in the middle of a battle. This is exactly the level of awesome I’d expect from Sharon.

    • Tjoeb123

I just hope all 3 of them (at least Claire) become playable party members that aren’t guests, like Sara and Angelica were in the 1st game.

      • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Dont worry about that. Trails always do that first games.

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Awesome nah, felt like a forced troope. Oh powerful maid that take easy on battle. Good thing there are still plenty of her own group that can kick her ass.

  • MrSushi

    2017 for Europe :(

    • Aluja

      Confirmed?

  • Taiga571

Thanks, XSEED. You give my wallet some time to fatten up a bit.

    • Learii

the 3rd one will be on ps4 i think

      • LordKaiser

I hope because I want my PS3 backlog to disappear so I can disconnect my PS3 and connect my PS2 back again. If it where not for the digital only small games that I can’t sell then I would had sold my PS3 a long time ago.

        • Learii

RPGamer.com list it on ps4 XD

  • Learii

    i can’t wait

  • raymk

Yes, perfect time for me as well. Fall is looking pretty good.

  • Invisbin

Shit I didn’t beat the first one yet. I forgot I had it lol.

  • Hoshi

    Yes!!

  • The Jokester

Hi I have played the Japanese demos of both Cold Steel 1 and 2 LOVED THEM!!! But I am really stuck on choosing what platform to get these games on PS3 or Vita. As we all know Vita could always use more games. But I wanted to know is there any big preformance issues between PS3/Vita? Does one run or look better than the other? Load faster and so on? I want to play the games on the best possible format I can. If anyone can help me out with my question i’d really appreciate it thanks! :)

    • DesmaX

Cold Steel has serious performance issues on Vita, and it runs at sub-res

CSII is proper res, and nowhere near as bad performance wise.

      • The Jokester

Ok thanks so I guess I should just get both on ps3 then? I am surprised they not patched it on Vita or something. I actually don’t own a Vita yet but was looking for games to get on it when I get one but if they don’t run as well i will stick to PS3. I herd there is a Cold Steel part 3 I wonder when that will be released PS3 is starting to faze out on games so hopefully the 3rd game comes out on that platform before it’s dead like the PSP.

        • DesmaX

They did patch it on Vita. Game barely worked on release

If you can play on PS3, play it there.

CSIII was announced by the end of last year, so it should be on PS4 (And other platforms)

          • The Jokester

Hmmmm really? Well I was hoping to keep all the games on one platform but I guess it is what it is. Hopefully we get CS3 sooner than later.

        • natchu96

Honestly, it seems to run fine now to me. The only issue is that there’s this huge loading delay for entering battle, or another area (depending on the size of it). Equipment menu lags when you try to scroll to a character you hadn’t previously checked since you opened the menu.

But I haven’t noticed any crippling frame drops when, say, walking around, or doing attack animations.

          • The Jokester

I see well I might still get it on the PS3 I am guessing it was made for the PS3 and ported to the Vita? Maybe that is why Vita has those issues idk.

    • commodorewheeler

I got them on both so can cross play, the PS3 version definitely plays better. Way less loading on PS3 version, except, curiously, right after you save.

      • The Jokester

I see well I guess I will get them on PS3. Thanks

  • Von Himmel

    MILLIUM A QT

  • JoJo

I just bought the first one yesterday. Good to see I won’t have to wait too long for the sequel if I like the original.

  • natchu96

    Is that a . . . purple quartz in a red slot?

    Purple exists?

    • Azure

Yup, it’s a new type. I won’t spoil it for you but you can only equip this type in a color slot

  • Guernica

Woot, still need to finish the first one though.

  • Mark Lengod

The GOD of localizations, along Atlus

    <3

  • quodvadis

Now give me the LE! This game is the only game I’ve ever bought an LE even though I never cared for such things before.

They also should seriously consider porting the game to PC for longevity and better awareness. I really think the game could do Valkyria Chronicles number if done properly. I’d like Japanese audio option too but at least you could do something about it with your legal copy if it’s on PC.

    • kudostoyou

      or even better ps4

      • quodvadis

I’ll take it if it has dual audio but it seems very unlikely.

    • OverLimitBreak

I wonder if XSEED would do another LE since they have that empty space in the original Cold Steel bookcase.

      • quodvadis

Yeah I noticed that too. I’m hoping that they just won’t make a bookcase for the second LE.

Though the artbook also has (spoilerish) art from the second game, so maybe they simply won’t do an LE at all.

        • OverLimitBreak

That just got me thinking, wasn’t there going to be a Cold Steel III? I wonder if that one would get a LE that would have extra space for the first two games.

    • http://www.falgram.com/ Falmung

You already have the LE. The LE is designed to hold both games. Also the art book covers both games for that exact reason so caarefuuul you don’t check the whole art book and slip into spoiler art from this game. I almost did that mistake. Woaah.

      • quodvadis

I know and I know. I still want the LE for the 2nd game just to support them and actually have the excellent OST this time (bought the US LE version, no OST :( )

They actually put a big fat warning on the art inbetween the first and the second game so you should’ve read that first. :P

        • http://www.falgram.com/ Falmung

I scroll through the art quickly on art books by flipping the pages to see the different art work quickly before going one by one to take a detailed look. So unless you’re actually taking your time to see page by page you won’t notice the warning. Doesn’t help that I scroll books from right to left. XD

  • fireemblembeast

And I still won’t have finished the first one by that time hahaha

  • Lara Croft

    Great news :D

  • Daniel Guerrero

At least some good news now that I know i wont get Trails in the sky 3rd on PSP/Vita anytime soon(someday i hope) so can hardly wait .

  • OverLimitBreak

There’s something I don’t like about this news, the fact that it’s been move to Fall instead of the original Summer 2016. I wouldn’t be surprise if they decides to release this on Dec 22 in US and Jan 29 in EU just like the previous game.

    • awvnx

      They never said summer 2016.

      • OverLimitBreak

Really? Well if you say so…

    • quodvadis

      original Summer 2016

      citation needed

Maybe instead of uniformed concerning try to actually doing some research or at least read XSeedstrail facebook where they regularly report their progress which is favorable?

      • OverLimitBreak

Hey don’t blame me I heard it from this one person in E3 2015.

        • quodvadis

          Nice source

So? That just shows how you like to spread info you can’t be responsible of for the sake of it without actually doing any research at all. I guess I’ll note it.

          • OverLimitBreak

I see that you want to turn me into the bad guy no matter what, hahaha.

  • pixxxelz

Oh man! super hyped for this, hopefully they give us at least 2-3 weeks in between all this jrpg’s if they don’t is gonna be tough to choose which one to play first.

  • Wagnaria

    Elise <3

  • Wagnaria

Btw I have a question for those who have already played the JP version.
*Don’t read further if you haven’t atleast finished the first one yet.*

Will I be able to carry over bond levels for the second game? If yes is it still worth raising my bond with that guy? (I’m positive you guys know who I meant), because I’m planning to do a 2nd playthrough while waiting for this one.

    • SgtFrog

You Get Sepith and certain item for transferring save file but not bond level

      • Wagnaria

        Thanks man ^^

    • awvnx

No, nothing carries over into the second game except some bonus items and a few different dialog depending on your dance partner

      • Wagnaria

        I see. Thanks! ^^

    • AlphaSixNine

You can keep Rean’s level, at least up to LVL80 I hear. If you go above it’ll just stay 80 in II lol.

  • DavidCage

I wish this is the one that they port to pc,not trail in the sky

  • LunarHaven

I’m super excited man… Cold Steel II, FF XV, SO 5… I mean damn, it’s not often you get a JRPG year like that!

    • ChieIsLifeButNaotoisBestWaifu

      Persona 5

      • disgaea36

Thats gonna change the entire game system haha gonna be worse than 3 when that was released can’t wait for that

  • LunarHaven

I hope she’s available to play as the majority of the game, because she (hell, they) are some of my favorite characters.

      • LunarHaven

Fantastic!!! Even more pumped now, her fighting style is classic.

      • Kick1212

Great, now I really can not wait for the second game!

  • renji00

Well, It’s time for me to hunt down that Cold Steel copy I’ve been longing for.

  • ShinSansaki

This is great, I hope we get more opportunity and freedom to use the Ashen Knight in Trails of Cold Steel II.

  • Kick1212

I’m playing the first one now and having a blast! Its a really great game and I’m glad it made it to the west. I just hope Sara is playable this time around.

    • ChieIsLifeButNaotoisBestWaifu

Sara is playble in the first game son

      • Kick1212

Thanks for letting me know, I’m on chapter 3 right now.

    ~IN XSEED WE TRUST~

Heck, way too many Kiseki games. I love you XSEED-sama.

  • disgaea36

Yassssss so excited. Im having a blast with te first one and almost passed up on the series due to the bad reviews but went with my gut and best money well spent.

    • forweg

Bad reviews?! Most reviews for Cold Steel are very positive.

      • disgaea36

Nope most of the reviews by asian players gave it low ratings and said it was the worst one in the series. Of course out west we are gonna love its been a long time since we got nice traditional jrpg to the home console.

  • Al Gore

Will someone explain me why the hell are they doing voice overs? Isn’t it easier, faster, more authentic to just put subs?

    • Dystopiq

      Because shut up. That’s why

    • cloud strife

In a fan perspective, it is, but in a business perspective, no. Xseed has the license to publish the game but they don’t have the license to use the japanese voices. Who knows maybe the actors or some of them doesn’t want their voices used outside Japan (it’s stupid hiring a new VA to redo lines in Japanese again for non jp speakers anyway) or maybe the fee is steep or too many issues to acquire it. A small company with 15 or so staff, resources should be used wisely. Hiring english speaking voice actors would be more ideal as it’s cheaper (not like $1 cheap but still cheaper than getting the rights) & less headache with legalities.

So why some companies were able to use JP voices? Again, everything falls into contracts stating how much rights covered to be used in games.

  • Dystopiq

    Xseed, make gaming great again!

  • Kick1212

For what its worth, Gamestop has the game’s release date as 9-6-16. I pre order my games from them and their usually right about projected dates for games.
