Watch Dogs 2 due out by March 2017, no new Assassin’s Creed in 2016
South Park and Ghost Recon: Wildlands also due out by March 2017.Ubisoft has confirmed it will launch “the next installment of Watch Dogs,” as well as a “new high-potential AAA brand with strong digital live services” before March 2017.
In addition to these titles, the company also plans to release For Honor, South Park: The Fractured but Whole, and Ghost Recon: Wildlands before March 2017.
The company will not, however, release a new Assassin’s Creed title in 2016. In a message on the Ubisoft blog, the Assassin’s Creed team said it is “stepping back and reexamining” the franchise this year, “to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we’re delivering on the promise of Assassin’s Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone’s playground.” The team will have more news to share “soon.”
Earlier this year, a report surfaced claiming an Egypt-set Assassin’s Creed code-named Empire will miss 2016, and in its place, a San Francisco-set Watch Dogs 2 will launch later this year.
