Rose and the Old Castle of Twilight details Blood Memories, Blood Seals, more
Latest look at Nippon Ichi's adorably dark PS Vita game.
Nippon Ichi Software has released new Rose and the Old Castle of Twilight details and screenshots, its upcoming PS Vita game from htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary director Masayuki Furuya, introducing the old castle’s gimmicks, Blood Memories, Blood Seals, and more.

■ System: Gimmicks
You’ll come across various gimmicks as you play, from things that will help you proceed through the old castle to things that will kill you upon touching them.
Here are just a few:
A device that can send objects flying. It seems to come in handy for moving things to locations that Rose cannot reach by jumping.
Monster-esque soldiers dressed in armor that will approach Rose when they detect her. Their movement is slow, but you should be careful as a number of them often appear at once.
Canvases painted red. It seems you can change the pattern of the image using Rose’s Thorn Power.
A mushroom that lets you jump far higher than usual. When falling from a high place, these also act as cushions.
A giant, carnivorous plant. It’s dangerous in this state, but it might become obedient if it eats something….
■ Tips: Thorn Power
Using your Thorn Power, it’s also possible to slow down the time around you. This should prove useful in situations where severe timing is necessary.
■ Keyword: Secret Maneuvering Shadow
In addition to Rose and mysterious Giant, there is a secret maneuvering shadow character in the old castle. It sometimes appears and becomes a hindrance to Rose and the Giant. Does it have a grudge against Rose and the Giant? Or is it worried about them leaving the old castle? Its purpose is unknown.
■ System: Blood Seals
Blood Seals are sealed doors entangled in huge thorns. A large amount of blood is required to untie the seal. You’ll need to be prepared to make a big sacrifice if you want to advance.
There are a few Blood Seals in the old castle, and on top of each door is a torture device. Although the form of torture varies for each seal, they’re all terrible devices that cause bloodshed.
■ System: Blood Memories
When Rose absorbs blood using her Thorn Power, she’ll sometimes be to see memories hidden in that blood. Those memories will be the key to finding out what happened in the ruined old castle.
Blood hiding memories can be found at various locations in the old castle. Sometimes you’ll need to take a different route to find them.
Once you absorb the blood, you can view the memory again in your Collection, accessed via the menu.
