Knack II listed on XPEC developer resume

Apparently in development since at least May 2015.

Knack

Mindy Liang, a 3D animator at XPEC Entertainment, has listed a “Knack II” on her LinkedIn Resume.

According to the listing, she started work on Knack II in May 2015, working on “animated 3D character motions and cutscenes for PS4 system.”

In addition to having developed its own titles, XPEC Entertainment is also an outsourced developer working on certain aspects of Final Fantasy XV. If Knack II is actually a thing, this may or may not be the case.

The listing has since been removed, but can still be caught in a Google search.

Knack was a PlayStation 4 launch title developed by SCE Japan Studio.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

No. Just…..no. If this is in fact a real thing, they shouldn’t even bother. They had their chance to make a mark with the first game and failed.

    • TheSpaceUnicorn

Considering this is a completely different company than the first game, I don’t know what you mean by “they”.

      • Zenos71

“They” as in whoever is making the game (differrent company or not). Because the first sucked so hard, the sequel doesn’t have a lot going for it. Being a new IP, the original had one chance to leave an impression. It didn’t.

        • TheSpaceUnicorn

If everyone gave up after their first try then the world would never get anywhere.

          • Zenos71

Well, if they decide to make another game, they better go in HARD!!!!!
Games like haze and lair as launch titles for the ps3 are examples that didnt make it.

        • Elvick

Did you even play the first game? nb4 “no”

          • Zenos71

Whats the point of asking you’re going to assume my answer is no?
Maybe i played it. How bout that?

            • Elvick

And maybe you didn’t, how about that? And given you evaded it, I’m going to take another guess and say I was right that you did not play it.

              • Zenos71

That’s cool. Your assumption is your own and nothing more. Either way, i have my opinion for a reason. I have played the game. And i thought it was pretty doo doo imo. Have a good day.

    • kthanxyousuck

And yet we’re still getting Watch Dogs 2

      • Zenos71

Trust me, i have no sympathy for watch dogs. What sold that game was simply marketing and a lot of hype (same for destiny). Sadly, some games prevail that way.

  • ZayZay_11

    I’m guessing Fall 2016/Spring 2017 release.

  • Roberto

    That nice?

  • Glittering Crux

First game was an “interesting” display of the PS4’s power.

  • LoliKing

    Finally

  • Party Rexy
    • TheBlackRabbit

      LOL WHAT

  • Nesther

    Let the Knackening begin.

  • UMR-10

Nice, i will get it when it’s 10$ on a sale.

  • Infasis

Remember when sony made family games that weren’t retarded?

    • UMR-10

      I don’t…

      • Infasis

It was a time before they only made Naughty Dog work on interactive movies.

        • TheSpaceUnicorn

Sony has never once made Naughty Dog work on interactive movies.

          • Infasis

Oh yeah, I forgot they’re supposedly free to do whatever they want with their creative freedom. Too bad they want to be filmmakers instead of game developers though. It’s a shame Roger Ebert wasn’t alive to see this.

            • TheSpaceUnicorn

Let me rephrase that. Naughty Dog has never once made an interactive movie. Regardless of Sony’s involvement.

              • Infasis

I’m just not one for scripted set pieces, I guess. It was a shame too, because I thought I was gonna love it. Something just felt lacking about it to me. It was like everything was there, but something I needed was missing. I really don’t know what the hell it was. I’ve enjoyed cinematic games like Mass Effect 1. It just didn’t do it for me. Different tastes though, I guess. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

                • TheSpaceUnicorn

And there’s nothing wrong with that, but my entire point is that Naughty Dog’s games have never even been close to logically drawing the conclusion that they’re just interactive movies. I’m not in an argument over personal taste and other subjective matters, even if I didn’t enjoy Uncharted and TLoU I’d be saying the same thing.

        • Meckagon

Ahh, yes. The “interactive movies” meme. Loving it.

        • Party Rexy
          • Infasis

Did you find that on neogaf or something?

            • Party Rexy

I found it somewhere but not there.

        • PuppetMaster

Interactive movies, you mean like Heavy Rain or Until Dawn?

          Crash Bandicoot – a platformer
Jak and Daxter – a platformer
          Uncharted – action adventure TPS
TloU – survival horror with stealth and crafting mechanic

I played all of them and there’s nothing that scream “interactive movies” like Heavy Rain or Until Dawn.

Maybe you should played their game first before hop in with the hate bandwagon.

    • Teepo 64

      Pepperidge Farm remembers. Me too.

    • Party Rexy

Your use of that word makes me question your maturity.

      • Infasis

        Sorry, *interactive fiction

        • Party Rexy

So basically all games? So now you’re saying “Remember the time when sony’s family game weren’t interactive fiction?” Which is basically remember when games weren’t games? Which is a contradiction.

          • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

I think it was a joke.

            • Party Rexy

              Oh I know.

      • Elvick

Because using retarded to refer to the mentally challenged makes you mature? Makes sense. It’s not anyone’s problem, but your own, that you look at someone with a mental disability and see them as “retarded”. That when you hear that word, you picture someone with a mental disability.

That’s all on you. Never in my life has someone with a mental disability been “retarded”. Stop projecting.

        • Party Rexy

I was mainly questioning his comment as a whole. I don’t care if you uses the word all willy-nilly I’ve seen tons of comments from other sites do it. His choice of words and the context made his message come across as nonsensical as Puppetmaster pointed out. Which made me question his maturity.

Not sure why your overreacting and trying to put words into my mouth. So just take it easy.

    • PuppetMaster

So according to you Knack, Puppeeteer, LBP, Tearaway, Singstar, Dreams, Ratchet and Clank, and other Sony games are for retarded people? wow just wow.

      • UMR-10

Puppeteer was such a great game, it didn’t deserve the terrible sales.

        • Elvick

Sony sent it to die like 90% of their games. It’s a shame, that is by far one of my all time favorite platformers.

    • Zackasaur

      Ah, hate speech. Very mature.

      • Infasis

Hate speech, outside the law, is
speech that attacks a person or group on the basis of attributes such as
gender, ethnic origin, religion, race, disability, or sexual
        orientation.

        Seems Legit!

        • Zackasaur

You don’t have to define a term on which I’ve don’t professional work.

You met the very definition of hate speech that you provided. You made an insulting slur against a group of people based on these attributes: Mental illness and learning disabilities.

      • Richard Miller

How is that hate speech. He is just giving his opinion on a game? No need to be so sensitive.

        • Zackasaur

I said exactly nothing about the opinion. Read gain.

You don’t recognise the hateful slur at the end of his post?

          • Richard Miller

Retarded? How is that a hateful slur? He was talking about a game and not a person. And besides people have called me worse on the internet everyday. Words are just that words and you shouldn’t let them affect you as much.

            • Zackasaur

It’s not that it affects me. It’s that hate speech is ethically bankrupt.

              • Richard Miller

Well he wasn’t attacking mentally retarded people so it is not a hate speech. He wasn’t even attacking a person. If saying a word now constitute as a hate speech then freedom of speech is in even more trouble.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Come on now, let’s do a better job next time. I’m not saying you can’t be critical, I’m saying spend more time and effort on it.

This post comes off as a troll post or worse. That’s why it’s getting the replies below. Just keep that in mind for the future, thanks.

      • Richard Miller

It don’t seem like a troll post to me. The guy is just giving his opinion. People are just super sensitive lately.

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I believe it to be so, that’s why I’m not removing it. Still, they can do a better job at expressing that critical opinion.

        • XiaomuArisu

          Your comment is retarded
          Thats my opinion tho

          • Richard Miller

            Ok can you explain why?

  • On the Front Page!

    I asked for this.

  • TheSpaceUnicorn

I enjoyed the first one. It was flawed, but it was a decent throwback to classic platformers. I’m interested.

  • http://www.genkivision.com genkivision

That’s really cool. Knack was a really neat concept and quite fun.

I could copy/paste my post on Watch Dogs 2 about how sequels to new IP, but I’m too lazy.

  • bloodiOS

So when will the first one be included in PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection?

    • Glittering Crux

If they do that people won’t buy the second.

      • Davorbasic

        Good one

      • Party Rexy

        Um…what?

        • donkey3

He means the game is so garbage that if anyone gets a chance to play it, they won’t have any incentive to purchase the sequal.

          • Party Rexy

Oh okay. It’s not a funny or crafty joke but it checks out.

      • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

        Why?

    • Elvick

Hopefully never. And the game is on sale for $7.xx right now, so anyone waiting for it to be “free” is stupid. Cheaper to just buy it.

I say hopefully never, because Sony needs to ensure that their mid-tier games don’t get regulated to “Well, I’ll just wait for it to be ‘free'” status. And make people actually BUY them.

      • bloodiOS

Anyone who are genuinely interested in the game would’ve gotten it at this point already. People might want the game on PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection because while it seems like something folks would want to give it a try, they also aren’t completely sold on it to actually go out and spend their money on the game. I think it’s pretty damn ridiculous to expect that people would do something as stupid as spending a significant amount of time waiting for a game they wholly looked forward to playing to be added PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection.

By the way, what does it even mean that it would be cheaper just to buy the game instead of just getting when it’s available to download at no extra cost? What are you even talking about at this point? It’s not like people would go out of their way to subscribe to PlayStation Plus just so they can play games at no extra cost on PS4 (who would be that stupid?!)

In any case, I can understand not adding titles that are both critical and commercial success to the PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection but Knack isn’t one so it only makes more sense to let PlayStation Plus subscribers access it at no extra cost in order to try and gather more interests in the series when announcing its sequel. Let’s remember that the price of games (maybe not Nintendo ones) drops as time passes, but people still want to get them on launch day (or window) which has resulted in numerous games becoming massive commercial successes. Market a genuinely good game properly (or just focus on proper marketing, period) and there shouldn’t be a need to worry about people waiting for it to be added to PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection (especially when the wait is 2-3 years) because people would flocking to buy it at launch.

        • Elvick

This isn’t a matter of “who is interested in the game”. It’s “who will buy this game on sale, if they ‘know’ it’ll be ‘free’ eventually.”

People wait for this stuff because they expect it to come to PS+. If it doesn’t, the ones still wanting to play will bite on a sale eventually. Rather than continuing to wait it out as an inevitability. Sony needs to show people that it’s not going to happen anymore, so they don’t cut the legs off all their non-AAA games.

I saw people not buy Puppeteer, not buy Knack, not buy Sly 4, because they were going to wait for PS+. And two of those were budget releases. Same thing with R&C: Into the Nexus, also a budget release.

Sony needs to end that expectation people have, not carry it into this generation. Unless Sony want to just forever seal that all their non-AAA games are damaged in sales by this expectation that no one ever has to buy them, because they’ll just toss them on PS+ eventually.

And most of the people I see clamoring for Knack or Killzone: SF are people bitching about “all those shit indies”. So they’re paying for a sub, they don’t get value out of… instead of just buying the games themselves. It’s been how many years since the PS4 launched? How many times have both games been on sale? That’s how it’s cheaper to just buy the games you want. I’ve seen these people complaining since the PS4 came out wanting those two games to be put on PS+.

Sony would have to drastically reduce their output of games to market them all properly. And they’d probably just outright cut out games like Puppeteer because it’s just an uphill battle to advertise that game vs another shooter.

          • bloodiOS

It’s a rather optimistic to think that those who are holding out for a game to be added to PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection of all thing actually had any intention of buying said game to begin with. People who want to wait for a sale will wait for a sale, but people who are already set on getting the game at no extra cost ain’t like that. Games’ sales are low primarily because people aren’t interested in getting them. There were a few pricier indie titles that launched as PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection titles, but I chose to wait it out so I can support the game and the devs because I was genuinely interested in the game enough to go that extra mile, and I can’t be the only one. People will support a game if they find it interesting, so no use in thinking people who aren’t interested in supporting it is going to change their mind later.

That aside, I still don’t think buying a game is cheaper than waiting for it be added to Instant Game Collection. After all, people aren’t crazy enough to subscribe for PlayStation Plus months after months if that’s all they’re planning to do with it. Online multiplayer on PS4 requires PlayStation Plus. That’s the primary reason why its subscription rose so high this gen, and that’s why we see more and more people showing up bitching about offers from PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection. They just want more value out of their subscription to sweeten the fact that they’re having to pay in order to be able to play online. Hell, people who aren’t playing games online wouldn’t be subscribing for PlayStation Plus at all otherwise. I mean, why would you subscribe for PlayStation Plus if it doesn’t offer anything you want?

As for the marketing issue. I think that’s pretty straightforward at this point. When first-party studios develop games, they should be very clear on whether or not their projects are going to get the proper marketing and adjust their budget accordingly to account for the likely future of the game not being a commercial success. So if a game isn’t getting proper marketing, then it just means that the budget wasn’t big enough for Sony to think that the game flopping will hurt and so they don’t see the need to advertise it. It sucks for those IP, sure, but as long they at least manage to break even, there should be a future for these smaller projects.

            • Elvick

“intention” means nothing. You can not intend to buy a game, then see it for sale for $x and think to yourself… “why not”? The amount may be different for every person, but that factor always exists.

A lot of people have zero intention of playing x, y and z. But then x, y and z goes on PS+ and they figure “why not” and try it. To actually want the game to be there on PS+, means you want it to some degree. If the likelihood it would be on PS+ were zero, rather than “highly likely” [solely based on PS3 – not PS4’s reality], then they’d probably be buying it now while it’s $7 and change.

Not all would, but quite a few would do so for that price. But fewer do so when they think it’ll show up on PS+. Setting up precedent again with PS4 is damning all Sony’s mid-tier games to this behavior. Where a lot of people just don’t buy the game, at all. Sure they sort of want the game, ut not enough to pay full price. And why pay less than full price when they can wait a little longer and have it “free”? Thus the cycle of mediocre sales repeats ad nauseum. Of course it’s not the only reason for mediocre sales of these games, but it is a contributing factor.

              • bloodiOS

And that’s why I think it optimistic. Like I said before, people wanted to wait for a sale will wait for one to happen, they do not intend to buy the game at launch or when the price is still high price but they are obviously going to buy the game at some point when it’s on sale. Within their minds, the concept of getting the game at low price clearly exists. I don’t think those folks should be lumped with those wanting to play the game at no extra cost, because these people aren’t like that. One of the point of Instant Game Collection was to get those who otherwise would’ve passed on the game and stop caring for its existence to at least turn around and give it a try. These people would never buy the game, it’s unlikely that they’re even going to finish the game, and all they wanted is a try at it. Beside, buying the game for cheap means that folks at least have permanent ownership of the said copy (until they resell it) and it doesn’t expire along with PlayStation Plus like titles from Instant Game Collection would (on top of being digital-only), so that should also play role in enticing folks to not wait for games to be come “free”. Sure, some folks might decide to go cheap if they think it’ll added to the Instant Game Collection at some point but really, to actually be willing to wait a few years for a possibility that was never guarantee to happen, their number can’t possibly be that significant to speak of. The idea that the possibility of games being added to PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection would be such a big contributing factor that if eliminated, would be enough to stop “the cycle of mediocre sales” really is too optimistic. Even in the PC gaming world where piracy runs rampant, many developers can still find success there, so it’s rather much to pin the blame of games that aren’t selling well to Instant Game Collection as though it could be that big of a problem. Games aren’t selling mostly because they aren’t catching enough interest.

So what’s up with the hate for this game? I’ve only played it once but it seemed fun enough, perhaps a little simple. I mean by no means was it goty material, but it definitely doesn’t deserve all the shit it gets from what I’ve seen…

    • Infasis

I think it has more to do with it being ushered in as a PS4 exclusive launch title. I don’t think most people consider it a bad game or anything. Just a little lackluster.

    • R.Z.

From far away (I just watched a few trailers and read reviews), it seems the game had a ton of great ideas (I know I loved the pitch) that were all wasted by unambitious game design.

The usual stuff, the game was aimed at kids so they didn’t really bother making it actually challenging or interesting.

      • Elvick

it is ‘actually challenging’. Don’t use Crystal Knack and play on the hardest difficulty and count the deaths.

    • The Fabulous Wombat

Yeah, because it was a launch title, it had a harsher judging from people, especially since it was the amongs the first real taste of the “next gen” gaming so many were hyped aboub, expectations were high.

    • Angry Troll Face

Because it’s not a classic game like ape escape, crash, spyro, Jak&dexter, rachet&clank, tekken, street fighter, king of fighter, final fantasy, xenogear, rainbow six, etc.

People only bought it because there was not much interesting PlayStation 4 games to buy. Now that we have a a shit load of PlayStation 4 games/upcoming games. Nobody gives a shit about this game anymore.

    • Elvick

Because it reviewed poorly. That’s it.

That’s the only reason. People jumped on the hate bandwagon from there. And reading reviews of the game you can tell they played on easy to hit deadlines. So they are hardly accurate.

Tons of people who actually played the game like it. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the game. It’s well designed, sure it’s simple, but it’s a challenge. The only real issue is a few framerate drops [ironically in one of the few levels they ever demoed of the game, the city]. And, a bit annoying RND action with the gems, but otherwise there’s no real reason for all the bad reviews it got.

Except that playing easy is boring. But easy is meant for children. Not gamers.

If they are outsourcing to a development studio in Taiwan it’s just a matter of time when they will open a WW studio in Taipei.

If they take a asian direction on Knack II and Mark Cerny is not touching it I can live with it. I guess the teams at Japan Studio don’t want to go near a sequel hence the outsourcing.

    • calcy

Outsourcing is used by lots of studios. Naughty Dog and Square Enix do it and so do many others. It’s a requirement for most developers to reach their deadlines.

Mark Cerny had barely anything to do with Knack. Sony Japan were the ones designing the game, the characters and all. Cerny wrote a draft?

    • Zackasaur

Somewhat? R&C has a full game and theatrical film arriving soon. I’d say that R&C is doing very well right now.

      • Dammage

Full game is a remake of the first game. Make a new game and then it’ll be alive again in my eyes.

Also video game movies… we’ll see about that one

        • Zackasaur

          “Remake” feels purposefully diminutive, there.

And all signs so far are positive on the film. I’m actually looking forward to it.

          • Dammage

Well a remake is still going to be the same game I’ve beaten 3 times in the end. I already own the PS2 and PS3 versions so dropping another $40 to buy it again in a month packed full of games already is not really appealing.

            • Zackasaur

It’s really not, though. This is a reimagining/reboot. The actual game isn’t going to be a prettier version of the original–it’s severely different. It involves no less effort than any other new R&C experience would involve.

They’re simply trying to restart the franchise alongside the film. If they succeed, we might expect this to continue.

  • dzeidzei

Hopefully this time around they’ve got some other hook up their sleeve apart from the building blocks coming together to make up Knack being only possibly on the PS4. While the game was mildly entertaining as a co-op experience, it really didn’t do anything to make you remember it for.

  • XrosBlader821

I still think that Knack is a poorly picked name.

  • Zancrow

They saw all the ironic shitposting about this game and believed it. lmao

  • Retro Reloaded

Years from now are people going to be begging Sony to “Bring back the Knack”?

  • Rid Vesalius

My nephew really love the 1st game. This gonna be a good news for him~

  • Warboss Aohd

oh cool, i still need to beat the first game.

  • Zackasaur

Honestly, I would love to see what they could do with the Knack concept in a new, more refined game.

I liked Knack. I didn’t love it. But it was also a launch title.

  • PSI Wind

UH OOOOOOOOOOOH DID SOMEONE SAY KNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!?

  • Mohammed Ahmed

Can anyone please help, its been several month since i checked this site, what are the jrpg or japanese made video games coming or announced for ps4, thank you so much

    • Infasis

well off hand i’m lookinmg forward to shit like 13 Sentinels, Exist Archive, God Wars, Root Letter, Odin Sphere, Start Ocean, Danganronpa, Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna, Ys, and Valkyria Chroncles
(Sorry I don’t remember the new names for everything that’s already part of established franchises)

      • Mohammed Ahmed

than you so much, you forgot dragon quest 11 and star ocean 5

        • badmoogle

Besides those already mentioned there’s also Dark souls 3, Nier Automata,Project setsuna,Gravity Ruch 2,Disaster report 4Plus and Project City Shrouded in Shadow.
At least from those that interest me personally.

    • http://www.samanthalienhard.com/ Samantha Lienhard

Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kingdom Hearts 2.8, Kingdom Hearts III, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, Dragon Quest XI, Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna, Persona 5, Megadimension Neptunia VII, Tales of Berseria, World of Final Fantasy, Ys VIII, Cosmic Star Heroine (made by a Western dev, but styled after classic JRPGs), and if you count strategy RPGs there’s also Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, Valkyria Azure Revolution, and Disgaea 5.

Probably missed some since a ton of JRPGs have been announced lately, but those are a bunch of them.

      • Mohammed Ahmed

That, im existed for P5 the most.

        • http://www.samanthalienhard.com/ Samantha Lienhard

I still need to try the series.

I forgot to mention Nier: Automata.

    • Retro Reloaded

It’s a great time to be any kind of gamer.

    • penemue

You might have the most common name in the world right? Anyway hope you have fun on PS4 m8 :).

Gives me hope for The Order sequel…
Both these games need to justify themselves…
Thank god, Sony didn’t abandon these IPs…

    • AcedXXII

I’d love to see a The Order sequel be less focused on being incredibly detailed and more on being fun.

      • donkey3

It’s a great game. It was just too short with no replay value.

        • AnimusVox

That’s how I felt also. I thought the gameplay itself was pretty solid, honestly, when you actually got to play.

    • Zackasaur

Oh, man. I would give a LOT for a The Order sequel.

      • shuvam09

        Hope Sony realizes the potential…

    • Richard Miller

      Oh god no.

      • shuvam09

        And why not???
It takes a lot of effort and time to create a new IP…
Devs have to put together story, gameplay mechanics, game engine, environment, aesthetics, characters while creating a new IP, which may lead to deficiencies in some department…
Creating a sequel is much more feasible as most of those stuff are sorted out already…
It can be astonishing how small revisions can create huge differences in a sequel…
        Look at Assassin’s Creed 2…
And I already liked what The Order & Knack tried to do…
It would do no harm to make a sequel to those…

        • Richard Miller

That game was not good and is undeserving of a sequel. It was a OK movie though.

          • shuvam09

So was Red Steel, Red Dead Revolver, Killzone and Just Cause…

            • Richard Miller

Red Steel and Red Dead Revolver was more reboots than sequels. Killzone and Just Cause was average and not terrible like the order was.

              • shuvam09

The Order was not terrible in any aspect…
Its a short & pleasant game overly criticized by a bunch of close-minded people…
And no one is stopping Sony from rebooting the series…

                • Richard Miller

Well to each their own but I rather not get a sequel to a game that was more cutscene than gameplay and yet still have a horrible story.

    • Yuntu

I hope so too, first of because of the ending. And secondly – we saw how much better Uncharted 2 was, so why can’t the same thing happen to The Order?

      • Greek-God88

        agree

    • dc1

Just completed The Order a couple of weeks ago and loved everything about it out side of the crazy glue on character lips who refuse to speak on whats going on at pivotal points in the story.

  • tastyharwze

Why are they decide to make Knack 2 lol? There is no sense, after so much negative feedback from players..

    • PuppetMaster

It sold pretty good for a new IP + launch title (sold more than 1,5 mill copies) and lots of people enjoyed it too despite it had flaws. So yes it makes sense and deserve another chance.

And looking back at Sony’s history, they rarely abandoned their new IP’s just because some people didn’t like it. They will try again to make a sequel that much better then the 1st game and most of their efforts was a success (Uncharted 2, Wild Arms 2, Shadow of the Collossus, LBP 2, Ape Escape 2, GT 2, Dark Cloud 2, Killzone 2, etc).

      • UMR-10

Usually launch titles sells well and most of Knack sales were from bundles though.

        • PuppetMaster

Doesn’t removed the fact it sold well and it’s not the only games that got PS4 bundle at that time either but people still choose it means lots of people really interested with Knack.

          • UMR-10

I wanna see how much Knack 2 will sell….

    • Elvick

Actually no. It didn’t get “so much negative feedback from the PLAYERS”. It got negative feedback from reviewers who clearly played the game on easy, and it is indeed incredibly dull to play that way, but that mode is meant for children.

Play it on hard, or any difficulty after and it’s design, while simple, is flawless. People who actually PLAYED the game, actually really liked it. Tons of people bought the game based on people streaming the game when PS4 came out.

  • penemue

    Literally why, WHY?

    • ghosthunter117

Because “the internet” spent all last year moaning about the lack of first-party support.

      • BSkullClad

The internet complains (rightfully so) about lack of first-party support and they respond with Knack 2.

        I can’t even…

      • Some guy

And god forbid they make a new Ape Escape, Legend of Dragoon or anything that’s not Knack instead.

        • JoJo_718

There’s also Medievil, Folklore, Dark Cloud and Wild Arms…

          • ghosthunter117

Dark Cloud should be in no hands but those of Level 5. I heard Wild Arms rumors though.

        • ghosthunter117

Actually, yeah. Considering Knack 2 is looking pretty outsourced right now, you should be thankful that they didn’t ship Ape Escape or, god forbid, a long awaited sequel to Legend of Dragoon off to a developer in China with no pedigree to speak of.

    • dc1

      Because it’s a great game. :)

Really looking forward to couch co-oping through normal with my Daughter before knocking out hard.

  • Elvick

    Please be in development.

  • ghosthunter117

Knack is really hard as nails. Do do something wrong and you’re dead. My only gripe is the double jump was needed almost every time you left the ground. Why not make it a hold the button to jump higher thing? Just a nitpick.

  • shogunknight

Well clearly a sequel of the game wouldnt have been in suggestion if Knack1 didnt do well so its best for people to hope its better than the previous one right?

Maybe now we will see the fated Knack as a Plus title lol

  • Auzzie Wingman

Knack was pretty great. I liked the attempt to recreate Crash’s formula of linear platforming and fixed camera angles. The spike in enemy AI when playing on Hard and Very Hard was nice compared to Easy. It also looked really good, like that one time in Chapter 3-2 when I fell into an obvious pitfall because everything looked so pretty.

Playing the game 9 times to fight the desire sensor was pretty yuck though. I got Diamond Knack before Emerald Knack.

  • kudostoyou

if they’re trying to boost ps4 slim with knack 2 bundle its kinda weird

  • Richard Miller

I would rather have a Jak reboot.

    • Zackasaur

Since you said “rather,” are you suggesting that you would be okay with a Jak reboot being made by the same developers who made Knack?

I actually think they could do it just fine, so I’m not being critical. Genuinely curious.

      • Richard Miller

I was more implying that sony should have allowed a Jak reboot instead of this.

        • Zackasaur

But those things aren’t mutually exclusive. They’re not in conflict.

UNLESS you think the same devs would be responsible… Which I find unlikely. Jak probably wouldn’t be made in Japan.

          • Richard Miller

I guess you don’t know but Sony blocked a Jak reboot from happening a while back but yet this is OK. That’s bullshit.

            • Zackasaur

That would be irrelevant to what I said, though… They’re not mutually exclusive.

I’m not arguing about opinions on Knack and Jak. I just don’t think either is actually an obstruction to the other. I figure you would say the same. If Knack II is a thing, that’s not a reason for or against a new Jak game.

              • Richard Miller

I just find it sad that Sony said no to a Jak reboot but yes to a Knack sequel.

                • Zackasaur

Well, that’s an opinion I can understand. c:

But one really is not in the way of the other, either. It’s mostly a matter of developers.

  • Mila

SONY , YOU HAVE MEDIEVIL .. YOU STILL OWN IT , WHAT ABOUT IT !

    • Pastmaster

Sir Daniel Fortesque should bring back by Guerrilla Cambridge. If only Chris Sorrell and Jason Arnott was still working there.

  • badmoogle

I wish Tombi/Tomba got even half the love as Crash gets. Unfortunatelly no one asks for him to return. :/ Even though technically it would have been easier to return since Sony still owns his publishing rights.

    • TheSpaceUnicorn

Tomba wouldn’t be easier at all, and Sony only owns the publishing rights in North America and Europe.

      • ghosthunter117

Who owns Tomba? Whoopee Camp is gone.

      • badmoogle

Damn i didn’t knew that! I thought Sony had published the games in all regions but apparently since Whoopee Camp published the game in Japan the IP still belongs to them(even though they no longer exist?)

  • easter
  • McPoo

I got the first one in the US PSN sale the other day for about a fiver. I’ve been curious about it for a while but the chap reviews put me off spending any more than that on it.

I’ve not yet tried it yet, might start today.

  • TheOneandOnlyGamer

Excited for this. I enjoyed the challenge and characters from the first one.
