Kickstarter launched for third-person action, twin-stick shooter hybrid Nelo
Freely switch between third-person and top-down shooter modes.Indie studio Magic & Mirrors has launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking $25,000 for the development of Nelo, a fast-paced, sci-fi game that fuses twin stick shooters with modern, third-person action and runs on Unreal Engine 4.
Inspired by games like Geometry Wars and Robotron 2084, Nelo follows an alien named Nelo Aukal, who after escaping his home planet targeted by its own resource-seeking AI creations known as the Nightsithe, awakens from cryo-sleep to discover that he is the only survivor of a ship that crash-landed on an alien planet once ruled by an advanced civilization called the Plemnibon. Unfortunately, the planet Plemniba is now a hostile home world to the Nightsithe, and Nelo must find a way to escape.
Players wear a power suit that grants them super speed, agility, and advanced mobility such as power gliding, wall jumping, air dashing, and meteor attacks. The suit is connected to four floating hands known as the Hands of Aphelion, which allow players to wield up to four conventional weapons at once. Players can seamlessly switch between third-person action mode and top-down twin-stick shooter mode with the push of a button. The former is better for range and verticality, while the latter for fast, close-quarters combat.
Nelo is currently planned for PC, but the developer has expressed interest in also bringing the game to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Read more about the game via its Kickstarter page.
